bush beans process?

Tucson, AZ

How do these produce veggies? My plants are starting to flower. I don't know if there is any way I can help them along or not when I see them bloom? Also, they are strung in a row on a lattice I built with dowels and twine, so I need to know how big they'll get. Thanks!

I don't know about helping them, but when I've grown bush beans, they're usually around a 12 inches, give or take... I've never latticed them, just let them grow. I'll be interested to see what our experts say, I'm going to give them a go in my first EB this fall and need all the help I can get!

Like most things, the fussing you do over themthe better they grow. Bush beans are among the easiest, just plant them in good ground and let them go. If they are the snap bean type start picking as soon they are big enough. Dry bean types let them get full grown. Depending on soil and cultivar they get between 12-18 inches tall, no need for support of any type. Fertilization needs to be done early on, but they need very little. Once they reach the blooming stage, not much you should do except pick them amd maybe give them a little water during a real dry spell.
