If they are the snap bean type start picking as soon they are big enough. Dry bean types let them get full grown. Depending on soil and cultivar they get between 12-18 inches tall, no need for support of any type. Fertilization needs to be done early on, but they need very little. Once they reach the blooming stage, not much you should do except pick them amd maybe give them a little water during a real dry spell.
