paper plates, of course. Right?
Scattelogical ramblings and desultory humor - Part III

Chocolate is one of the basic food groups--the brown group. It also includes coffee, coke, dark beer, cookies, breads, peanut butter, nuts, brownies, figs, whiskey, dates, breaded fried foods, and several other goodies packed with essential nutrients. As many busy people, I find it difficult to get a healthy 5 servings a day in, so I compensate by eating NOTHING but brown foods one or 2 days a month.
Balanced nutrition is essential for a healthy lifestyle. In case of emergency, knock back a shot of Hershey's syrup. It will cure what ails you.
In a pinch I eat the little semi-sweet baking chocolates, that usually takes care of the craving for the time being.
Pixie - you and my daughter are two of a kind eating the chips!
brownie batter, choc chip cookie dough, choclate sauce, fluff, van ice cream, choc ice cream . Do not bake first two ingedients, mix all in a pan and freeze. Give to older "sweet-a-holic" brother on Christmas morning as a joke. Older brother eats it all and declares it the best gift ever. 25 years later Ben and Jerry get rich. We are not related to Ben or Jerry. sigh
Seandor, get one of those assorted cheesecake platters from Bj's, Sam's or Costco(in the bakery dept), whatever you have up there, you can freeze it and have a slice whenever the mood hits.
Anyone ever have Nutella? YUM!!!!
pirl did you find you were missing chocolate chips bits when you went to make your cookies? I always knew when my Mom was about to make cookies cause I would hear this rumble through the house...
" CELESTE ANN! WHERE IS ALL MY BAKING CHOCOLATE?"
Years later in my house you hear:
"JOSHUA JOSEPH....WHERE IS MY BAKING CHOCOLATE?"
(that's only if I wasn't the one to eat it!)
This is where Mom would say "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree does it??"
I have plenty of chips now but remember the days DD would scoff them up so I'd hide them in empty oatmeal containers. It was the cherry pie filling, which I used in between layers of Devil's Food cake, that she could eat as fast as I could buy it. I should have left it in the LOCKED car!
Notice how we all get rather serious and logical when we talk about chocolate, lol? No nonsense here! Everything clear-cut and understandable. We must have clear communication when it comes to chocolate!
:)
Dee
Dee - we could have our own NE Chocolate thread!
The @#$ leaves are changing colors in Bethel! Why are they doing that? I mean, it is pretty and all, and I do have a new boiler - so bring on the cold weather , but, but I'm not done with summer!
I think there are many of us fighting the change in seasons, AYC. I am!
Yank, did you come to Maine? (Bethel) or is there a Bethel in Conn. too? Because I wouldn't be suprised if the leaves are changing in Bethel, Maine. Thats the mountain area and they always change first.
Bethel, CT - I drive through it every day to work. I haven't been to Maine - yet. It is on my list of places to go.
I've got to go get my chores done!
I've got to get this darn course outline finished - they want us to give our lists of courses we will teach for the winter, spring, and summer sessions now - go figure.
After that is finished - maybe some time in the garden - then it's chores and getting ready for the workweek . .
Well, it's labour day, right?
Pirl, forget the thread - how about a chocolate forum, lol!
Leaves do seem to be changing rather early. Noticing some changing all over, Yankee - Stratford, Monroe, Trumbull, Shelton. I was up in the Valley yesterday and there too there are leaves changing. Too soon, it seems...
Sounds good to me DD!
No change of colors here.......yet.
They are turning here too, the trees are under stress because we have not had much rain so they are going dormant early. It is mostly the shallow rooted ones like maples and birches but we really need a whole day or two of widespread rain now.
This thread is making too much sense now but maybe a chocolate and comfort food recipe thread for the winter might be nice. Nothing like a hot bowl of chicken soup on a cold snowy day.
Now back to nonsense...Who put the boop in boop boop eee doop? :)
Who put the shang in the shangalng . . .
That's why I stopped buying chocolate chips... they kept getting eaten. Or DD makes those no-bake chocolate-candy-rice krispy things.
xx, C (Getting the family to labor as they ought on Labor Day is so difficult!)
We have dropped down to second on the postings in DG this week.
NOOOOOOO! More pictures, post and stupidity is needed!! LOL
Post, post, post, hmmm, hmmm, babel.
Thank you for your contribution Carrie! LOL
You're totally welcome, my dear. We put some extra furniture outside for my daughter's birthday party Aug. 24th and it's still all fine = NO RAIN.
x, C.
Thank you for your contribution, Pixie.
Thank you for your contributions, carrie, pixie, and cat!!
The big Ginkgo is huge and the dwarf ginkgo is small and now I find there is one with longer skinnier leaves that I don't have, or did I just imagine that due to a lack of chocolate ? It is time to go chew on a branch and improve my memory. Memory. Memory, did I lose my memory ? or was it just my mind.
I lost my mind...memory works cause I know where I put the chocolate!
How cool, schicken. Our family was all either "C" or "K". The next generation of kiddos didn't do that. Funny how that happened.
My Father went through the ABC's but not in order! LOL Got all the way down to the G which is what his name started with.
Me, I have 2 T's, 2 J's and 1 N. Kids thought I should have one more so I could have another N. Wasn't a good enough reason for me, so it didn't happen!
I like to call my boys '1' and '2'.
