Like in "Cat In The Hat"?
Scattelogical ramblings and desultory humor - Part III
One of my favorites!!
Each of my groewn daughters can recite that book from memory. It was a favorite of theirs, too, when they were younger. So much of a favorite that my then DH and I would try and hide the book!
Now, when one of the 'grands' wants to hear the story, they start in ....
"The sun was not shining,
It was too wet to play.
So we sat in the house,
All that cold, cold wet day."
Ugh! I may have started something.
Would love to get a first edition in good condition. Signed would be even better.
I can look to see how old our book is. My oldest DD just turned 37 and it was her book.
not signed, though
I'm sure first editions in good shape, even unsigned, would fetch quite a lot of money. Books are a great investment and a good way to diversify away from stocks, bonds, etc.
I got lost. That is perfect for this thread
No GPS??
My mother's name is Sarah, my father's name is Austin. All four kids (my generation) had names that ended in N (I'm really CarolyN). My mother (they've been divorced for 35 years) still growls about that.

edited because I can't spell four correctly (fore!)(for?)

One of my ancestors had 12 children, all of whose names began with O! I am a descendant of Ozro. There were few normal names, no Oliver or Ophelia or Obidiah. Just made-up ones!

Carrie, I think this is beginning to explain a lot! ;^)
Oh yeah? What's that supposed to mean? Those are fighting words, Dave!
x, C
uhh...nothing..Everyone's name begins with O and ends in N, not that there is anything wrong with that.
Sincerely,
On (my new name)
Good recovery, Dave.
Sorry you got lost. Where did you finally lose it?
Turn left at Ontario
My new name will be Ollettan.

I'll opt for Oenthera as a name - it's not my choice in plants.
I like it as a plant - not great, but not bad. Why don't you like it Pirl??
I planted chocolate snakeroot today in a shady bed I'm renovating. Got some chocolate cosmos on order for the spring. Planning on moving a Chocolate Ruffles Heuchera put of a pot and into the ground before the first frost. I covered a mound placed over a pine stump with Chocolate Mint a few years back.
Now check out this website!

I'm getting some new ideas for a theme garden. Where will it go? What patch of lawn will get scarificed to the Goddess of Chocolate?

It's too invasive for me, Victor, but not the Gooseneck Loosestrife. Go figure!
LadyC, Eupatorium 'Chocolate' has been an invasive nightmare for me. Still pulling it after years. Its seeds end up everywhere. Very pretty but if you don't dead head it mercilessly, it causes nightmares.
That's funny - it never moved for me. Is it the plain species - O. missouriensis?
Yes, Victor. I think my Round Up fight with Aegopodium, last fall, finally got the Oenthera, too, but didn't harm the Lily of the Valley. Wouldn't have bothered me if it had disappeared, too.
Lily of the Valley is the flower for people born in May, Pirl! I'm offhanded by your altitude!
x, C (a May baby)
All my husbands were born in May.
I love lily of the valley but it has struggled here. My Grandmother always had lily of the vally and blue forget me nots on the side of the camp when I was a kid. I smell them and im 7 at camp again.
Pirl, how many have there been?!! Have you been holding out on us?
Thanks for the warning Victor. If I get anything to grow for long in this area, I'll be a happy gardener. Gooseneck loosestrife, cimicifuga, japanese wild ginger, joe pye weed, sedge grass, swamp milkweed and hakone grass are all limping along. It used to be well established with day lilies and siberian squill, but the deer, the tree growth and and an ever increasing deer population have done away with that. Water runs through this area with a strong current when it rains. I can't even keep mulch on the ground for more than 2 seasons at a time. I doubt that the deer will allow the eupatorium to flower much less go to seed. If I can establish enough roots to hold the soil I'll be content.
Dang! That was way too sensible.
I'm going to order some Chinese food.
Dumplings anyone?
Poo poo platter, please. I have deer AND 'Chocolate'!
I'm on #3 and loving him...
xx, C
So said Paris after ten minutes...
One of my student's gave me dark chocolate covered fortune cookies for Christmas a few years ago. I still have the beautiful red satin "take out" box it came in.
Want to share an order of cold sesame noodles?
Love Chinese food, I eat anything that has "Gai" in it.
Stay away from 'One yung...'
Victor - was today show and tell day?
I'm very concerned about the little bunnies that were safely in their nest (warren, right?) and I lifted up the branches I put over it to keep them out of view from the crows. They all scampered away! What are the chances they'll return? I feel like a criminal. They couldn't have been more than 3 or 4" long.
Victor stop before your edited!
He likes living on the edge.
Sorry!!! It's instinctive sometimes.
How come General Tsao's (many other spellings abound) Chicken isn't General Tsao's Gai?
