My rock garden isn't growing. Should I have planted bigger gravel?

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

It's farther than it looks, but closer than you think.

Oh no! I know exactly what you mean, Al.

Funny.

The best!!!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Just read this morning that "singer/actor" DMX's home in Phoenix AZ was raided and his dogs were not being given food or water. What goes 'round comes 'round and he should have the same treatment.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, I heard that yesterday. Sickening. How many more are out there?

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

'Pop' go the weasels!!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Did we win the prize yet?

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

We'll find out tomorrow if the NE forum got the most posts. No prizes. How was Tanglewood?

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Tanglewood was terrific! John Williams was conducting the Boston Pops Orchestra and they had film clips to accompany much of the music.

We took Viggo - my little yellow garden cart to transport our little folding picnic table, two lawn chairs, the backback picnic set, and a cooler filled with blackberry wine for me and Sam Adams for David, a mini carrot cake, 4 sandwich buns filled with deli thin-sliced roast beef, asparagus salad, mixed fresh fruit, salted cashews, baby carrots (dh would rather die than eat a salad!), potato chips, whole wheat and oat cookies, and Starbucks Frappichinos.

We arrived just after 5:30 set up the picnic table on the lawn about 30 feet back from the centre of the shed (row 11). Got a great view of the screen for the films and if I sat very erect I could even see John Williams conducting. We even had a table cloth for the picnic table and I had a vase with a flower arrangement of hosta leaves, a Betty Harkness rose, orange gladiolas, and white butterfly bush.

The first part of the program featured music from David Lean films - wonderful stuff from Blyth Spirit, Dr. Shivago, Lawerence of Arabia, Oliver Twist, and Bridge over the River Kwai.

After intermission, Lynn Redgrave introduced the different musical pieces - all from Harry Potter. Great stuff. John Williams also gave the crowd an encore musical selection - the theme from ET. The place went wild!

The music from ET and HP are similar in rythm since both involve flight. Does anyone else ever fly in their dreams? I remember the first time it happened. . . . it was and remains one of my biggest regrets that I ever woke up . . .

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Glad you had such a nice evening.

No flights in my dreams.....yet.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Man - if taking drugs is even 1/10 as great as flying in dreams, it's a miracle we are not all junkies.

Honestly, you may be better off if you never fly in your dreams - it is REALLY AMAZING! What is really weird, is the first time, I had a guide in my dream to teach me how.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I have flown many time in my dreams. Many times I do a swimming motion to fly. Weird, but lots of fun. I have also fallen from very high many times but had a soft landing each time.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Never fallen in a dream. When I fly, I am horizontal so I can see the landscape below me. I don't have to move my limbs in any fashion, buy merely think where I want to be.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I have jumped from someplace high but always wake up before I hit the ground.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That's what most people experience.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I just fall off curbs and wake up with a jolt.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Not much of a fall!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Less of a flight!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I see people in the room (one at a time, thankfully) and wake Jack up so he can go after them. The amusing part is that he always believes me.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Surprised I haven't had deer nightmares.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Ahem! Making way too much sense!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Glad you had a great evening M. Sounds just lovely, very romantic.

Never had a flying dream but used to be able to edit dreams if I didn't like them. Kind of a dreamland redo. Don't really remember very many dreams anymore.

How do you make nonsense out of sense? Ans: Sprinkle it with non. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes until done :)
