Today's Weather in Your Garden

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Okay gang - I mentioned I was thinking of doing this. Since our forum has members from such a wide area, it's interesting to know how the weather conditions are in people's home towns. Use this thread to do a quick post to let us all know how things are where you live.

For me right now - 58 degrees, very rainy. Not complaining about the rain though. Seems we've gotten about an inch so far.

Also mention if you have outside weather instruments - thermometer, rain gage, etc., or even a full system.

I have a number of thermometers and a rain gage. I'm considering a complete system that interfaces with my computer.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

wow... you are high tech!!!!

right now is 68... a bit cloudy but still really nice!!!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Don't know what the temperature is - but it is nice . . . probably around 68 - 70 degrees. Lots of high overcast.

North Augusta, ON

Right now it's 75 with a cool breeze. Supposed to rain Thurs., Fri., and Sat.....we really need it though. I can smell fall in the air. I have to be more zone aware next year when planting. i put in some African Lions tails and the poor things are just starting to get buds, they only have maybe 3 weeks so they better get on with it. I can see me building tents over them just to see what the blooms look like.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

It's been raining for hours in Danbury, CT. I hope my garden in Bridgeport is getting some of it!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Sprinkle last night,45 this am, mostly cloudy to overcast today, struggling to get over 60. Dead calm for a change, kinda gives me the creeps. I wouldn't mind some of that rain up here either.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sounds like a Stephen King novel, ngam.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

There is almost always a little breeze. You only notice when there isn't any at all. Stephen King used to spend weekends at my house when he was a U of Maine. That was when he had two flannel shirts one old pair of work boots and long hair and a beard. Looked like Grizzly Adams the mountain man. Nice guy, he was friends with my younger brother and they were just there. Who knew!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Are you serious?? Have any signed books by him? Could be worth some good $$.

Harvard, IL(Zone 5a)

Send some of that 45 degree weather here to Missouri. Temperatures will hit 95 today, heat index 101, and we haven't had any measurable rain since April. Since the first of August, we've averaged over 90 degrees with lows at night about 70.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

No I knew him before he was rich and famous. My brother has letters they wrote back and forth for a while after they both got married. There are some references to places and people in his books though. My brother is one of the government agents in Firestarter, I think is the one. He put the names of most of the guys from college in his books as the names of characters. Also descriptions of a pond in Attleboro and Central Falls where my sister lived, I think he asked her out. He was just one of my little brothers goofy friends. I remember he was big but quiet with dark rimmed glasses and dark shaggy hair everywhere. LOL!.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Ouch! Thanks for checking in iguy.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Still is goofy!

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Sunday--rain. Monday--rain. Tuesday--heavier rain. About 60*

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Are you stuttering, venu??

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Since you asked .....

It's 3:27 PM. The sun is peeking through some thinning clouds. And it's 69 degrees with a light breeze.

At 6 AM, it was VERY cloudy. There was no breeze. And the temperature was 43 degrees!

Should we try to repost our weather at about the same times each day? Each day that we remember to, that is. I've started to add it to my Gardening Blog for future reference, too.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

ffffeels that way

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Whenever is convenient. It's nice to see the highs and lows of the day too. Wow, you have sun peeking. Not here! 57, rainy and chilly.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Yeah, Victor. I have moved my laptop to its autumn and winter location which is a desk near a window that has sunshine streaming in after 3 PM. I am sitting in a pool of sunshine right now, luxuriating in it like a fat cat!!

I expect that we will have the rains sooon enough, as the weather you guys get usually shows up here in a day or two. I don't think our temps will get that chilly, though.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

70 and cloudy here. We've had 3-4 inches of rain since Friday. My grass is flooping over and I have to mow it before it rains again - although I hate mowing it when the ground is so soft.

68, cloudy and a gentle breeze. Very, very, little rain for a looong time. Poor lawn is going brown. Feels like Autumn, but weather people say summer will return this weekend.

(Zone 4a)

This week has been nice and sunny and hovering around 73....I would say that is nice for this time of year. However we are expecting a few days of rain starting tomorrow.

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

Mid 50s all day with rain. Forecasts of a high of 85 and lows of around 60 over the next 10 days. We could get a second rush of growth yet.

Right now I'm looking out the living room window at droopy tomato plants.

Late February vs the wet, rainy view today: (that is a tomato in the white pot):

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, thanks David. Makes the complaining about today look silly!!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

What a nice, gentle reminder, David Paul. Brrrrrrr ... I can just feel those February chills!

Around 62 and the sun is going down and hitting the garden.

Hey bigcityal - what does it mean your grass is flooping over ?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That's an old one schick. It's Pirl's word.

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

Its official....today's high of 59 degress in New York's Central Park ties a record set in 1911--the coldest high temperature ever in August

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

That's cold.

Shick - yes that's a Pirlized version of floppy.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Oh, DP! You could have gone all evening without saying that! Imagine! We here in chilly New Hampshire being more than 10 degrees warmer than Central Park!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

This is great weather, folks! Of course, it will be 90 degrees and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms on Saturday - because DH and I are going to Tanglewood and only lawn tickets were left. :-)

6 AM 42 degrees wicked foggy.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

7:03 am very foggy and 46 degree's here. Weatherman says summer temps will return by Friday. Should be in the 80's Friday, Sat. and Sun.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Schicken ....
funny what a difference a few miles makes. Pass the hot chocolate, please. Clear skies and a very chilly 37 degrees at 6:15 AM.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

7:23 am.... have no idea of the real weather!!!! I am still in bed... lol!!!!!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Kassia ... you devil, you!! Toasty warm while the rest of us whine.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

I tried to go out and work in the garden but ... tut, tut, it looks like rain....wait..it is raining. just a very light drizzle and very gray sky. 63deg. that's the warmest it's been in the a.m. for the last few days, though.

the forecast a couple of days ago was for sun all week. they LIED to me. I had my pool all warmed up ready to spend the week floating. pooh!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Cool outside and breezy. Good day to sort out seeds for winter sowing.

Assonet, MA(Zone 6b)

Candyce I don't want to even hear about temps in the 30's yet. Shame on you. :)
