LOL makshi!!!
That 'Whirpool' is gorgeous! I have what was sold to me as 'Escargot'... I love the whirlagig begonias... but mine has so much red hair on it! I didn't think 'Escargot' was like that... at least not in the photos I had seen. I'll post a photo of mine this evening, when I get to my home computer...

Aug. Bingo Call List
WildRose...................if you go to the begonia forum someone will tell you...........I have a hard time with those kind of rex begonias even though they are beautiful...............maybe begoniacrazii will be lurking later on as she is on Pacific standard time zone...........
OK Gail... thanks. I thought you were the propping queen though!
I cannot seem to keep Rex's alive for anything! Beautiful Plant. It looks like 'Escargot' to me too. Here's the PF info on it:
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/56090/
I have several in the house but the only way I can keep them is to keep pebbles under them in a bowl to promote more humidity...............
the other rhizome kind with the smooth leaves seem to grow easier and propagate easier..........but don't know why..............
Is it ok that we are visiting about everything and nothing on this bingo thread???????????
I like to experiment, Wild Rose..............
In the first picture of streps 2 leaves are planted in 1/2 perlite and 1/2 av soil-less mix
and the tall one is in vermiculite only ................iced pink flamingo
That Cathedral begonia sure is lovely, Gail...hint, hint... LOL ;o)
I have begonia propagation pictures! LOL I'm having pretty good luck propagating them from leaf, just like an AV... Hang on let me find those pics or go snap a few new ones... I'll BRB
good, I want to see, Rain.....................isn't Cathedral a beauty............almost killed her about 5 times before I got the hang of keeping her alive......................you may have, Rain (LOL)
Oh thank you, Gail! How did you ever know I'd love a leaf or two of Cathedral?? LOL
Actually, Lali helped me out with Begonia propagation, and I promised her I'd post these on the Begonia board...because of that and the fact that I'm waaaaayyy off-topic posting these pictures here, I'm going to start a thread over there and we'll talk about Begonias there. OK? I'll link back here in a minute. Don't wanna get in trouble for going way OT, because I've got several pictures. :o)
Link us to it, Amy!
thank you Makshi and Rose.....................for indulging us...........we will move this over to another thread and drool over avs here.
This is on our bingo list..............makshi doesn't get to guess (LOL)

So far, it is my favorite AV..................it is Russian and the blooms are giant.........not kidding..............she is called Lubimaia Dochka.............I am going to take a picture of her right now ...........she is not in bloom and she is only 4 months old..........check out her foliage size.........
Did I miss it? B I N G O!!!! Did I win? LOL

you missed it............sooooooooooo sorry Janet...............Rain has already claimed victory today....................
I have one of the two calls made today!
Oh .... I can see that this game is gonna be really something .... down to the wire and Miss Janet will have all our heads spinning ... hee hee, she's Bingo-ing & Bango-ing the first day!

Guys you can talk about anything here. I love all of the begonia pics.
I love the rex begonias. The only begonia I have is a NOID rex and I have it in a self watering pot. It seems to be very happy there.

Darn it!!! Alright makshi! I am now sending you mind vibes, from my mind to yours...
**"You must pick one of these numbers neexxxt!!!"**
Did ya get that???
;*)
(((LOL)))
Wild-Rose I can't quite rec. it because there is to much interference from the other ones trying to come through.
Darn I am so sorry it is still fuzzy.
Here a fact about African Violets that I didn't know. I am guessing some of you do though.
The African violet was first discovered by Europeans in 1892 in East Africa by Baron Walter von St. Paul who was the german governor of a northeastern province in Tanganyika (now part of Tanzania). He stumbled across these plants growing in the Usambara Mountains around the shaded rocky ledges. He instantly sent the seeds of this plant he called "Usambara violet" back to his father in Germany. While in Germany, this plant soon acquired its botanical name that remains with it to this day: Saintpaulia.
Speakin' of streps... I've been trying to make a very small wishlist of a couple streps I'd like to start out with, and so far 'Party Girl' and 'Bristol's Nightfall' are on the top of my list. My questions are...
Is 'Party Girl' and 'Party boy' that only fantasy-type streps available? Are there any others that offer even better fantasy markings?
Does anyone here have 'Bristol's Nightfall', and if so, is it as striking as the photos I've seen? If you have it, and have a photo from your own plant, I would love to see the bloom please!
As always... thanks in advance!
Karen
There are at least several other Streps with fantasy, Karen. Streaker, Bristol's Pajama Party, Spooky, Space Dust, Spin Art (though I've never seen this one before today). The ones beginning with S are on this page. http://www.streptocarpus-info.com/tables.html There are more, I'm sure, but, with the exception of Spin Art which I just found, those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head. I don't have Bristol's Nightfall or I'd give you a review of it. :o)
Oh Geez, I found a whole bunch, typed them up, and accidentally left this page so I lost them all. Let me see if I can remember them - Jules, Bristol's Surprise Party, Neil's Wam Bam, several more. Anyway, go to http://www.streptocarpus-info.com/ and on each letter's page do a Ctrl + F and search for fantasy. You'll find quite a few. :o)
OMG! 'Spin Art' is the bomb!! And the one right below it, 'Spiritual Corridor' looks alot like the 'B's Nightfall'.
Thanks for the site... I had this for the episcias, but not for the streps.
Spiritual corridor is one I want, too. It's gorgeous, isn't it?? We'll have to start looking for Spin Art. I had never seen it before. Wonder if it's for sale yet?
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME, AMY?!?!??? I said I only wanted a couple!!! I'm going through there... saying, "Ooh! OOOHH! I like that one, and that one, and THAT one!"
Stop it! Just stop it! I live in an apt!!!
;*)
ROFL I'm not makin' you BUY them!! I was just SHOWING you what's available!!! ha ha ha ;o) I'll just not help anymore.... :oP Besides, if I have the addiction, so should you!!!
That's OK... 'cause I'm gonna find them, and post WHERE I find them! Then you'll get tempted and HAVE to buy them too!!!
Naahhh! 8*P
You're not playing FAIR!!!! I don't wanna know where to get them! I've purposely NOT TRIED to find them!! I'll just not read anymore of your posts!! :oP ;o)
SEE?? I didn't read it!! I looked at the picture, but I'm not READING it!!! ROFL
