Way to go, Dave! Look forward to seeing you again!
North Texas RoundUp - Head Count
I'll bring DG mugs. :) Out of shirts...
Those mugs are the best. My only complaint is that I keep wanting to plant something in them, lol!
Barb,
I can't come as I will be in N. Carolina that weekend. Can I talk you into picking up a mug for me?
yes, dawn, i will get you one if i can.
dave, are you looking for any type of plant?
ALSO...........FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE BRINGING KIDS..........................would you be intersted in bringing some "kid" items for our kids to have their own little swap or drawing? if you want to why don't you dmail me and let me see how many people might be interested.
Thanks for the offer, mamajack. I don't think I'm looking for any particular plants, but I sure won't turn down interesting items! :)
I am still continuing my quest for Paulownia seedlings, comfrey divisions and any interesting grape varieties... A sassafras tree is also on my wishlist but those aren't likely to be found in most parts of Texas. :)
dave
well my sister and i are planning an "interesting item". and i have some comfrey i can bring you as well.
That sounds great!! Do you have a wishlist I can peruse?
not necessary dave. but do you have any leftover colored tile pieces or broken china? or if you have any interesting "junk" made of metal you don't want my sister would love it.
also, for fun and i make no promises but on your "interesting item".....................do you have a need that it could fulfill? or a color scheme?
I might have some interesting pieces of metal items. I'll look around the barn and see what I can come up with.

Hmm, I don't know what you're talking about, so can't speak intelligently on the subject!
well ..................at least give me favorite colors.
Trish pulled me aside and explained everything. :-)
French country style with burgundies and deep blues.
Thanks for your patience with me; I can be pretty slow sometimes. :)
LOL. i don't know dave................if you are slow i wish i had gotten a little bit of it thru the gene pool.
Dave, I saw you mentioned that you are looking for a Princess tree and I have an interesting story to tell.
There is a feed store in my neighborhood and they happen to have a Princess tree growing by the side of their building, so i decided to stop by today and see if they might have some seeds or seedlings they could share. They said, Oh no, that tree is very expensive and they import the cuttings, but they had some potted for sale.
You won't believe this, the cuttings were in gallon pots, 3 of them, and they were about three inches tall.
Here is the kicker, they want $40.00 dollars each. I couldn't believe it, the tree was loaded with seeds which weren't mature yet, and i asked why they don't plant their own, he said the tree is not self fertile, but I said they could take their own cuttings, he said they don't have time for that.
Can you imagine? $40.00 for a three inch cutting? Incredible!!!
I didn't think you would want to buy that, but if you do let me know.
Josephine.
That's pretty silly. I had a Paulownia tree (a single specimen) in Lenoir City, TN and it produced billions of tiny seeds. I sprouted hundreds of them and ended up with some fine new specimens.
After moving to Texas a few years later, I found the seeds I had saved were no longer viable.
Spending $40 for a common Paulownia is silly and pretty outrageous!
dave
Ridiculous!
this is way changing the subject but has anyone heard of the NEW and improved walnut tree that reaches maturity much faster than the usual varieties?
No I haven't tell us about it.
Inquiring minds want to know!!!
:~)
Dave - I have some very rare grapes I will bring you if you want them. They are extras from the database out in CA that I rooted if i can get them to make it until then.
when i was in miss. this summer my friend told me about them. she learned about them from a game warden in miss. but he is in the hosp. right now and so she is unable to find out about them. when i get some info. i will let you know. i might write miss. state univ. to see if they know.
Mitch, that sounds great! Are they viniferas? Do you know the variety?
They sure are and yes I know what they are too - will have to get out there with the book and see what made it with more then one (one will stay here... but I will bring you the rest.)
Outstanding Mitch - thanks!
No problem.
I am going to try very hard to make it...will be happy to contribute something..
Kris
Great, you won't regret it! Dave himself is planning on being there too!
What? Dave is coming to our swap, here? I'm not confusing this with the other swaps, right?
Yep.......if he can make it. Here it is in his words.

Well, that's great! I've not been able to make any of the roundup's so it will be nice to actually meet "the man"!
Our little swap is growig up,
I might need a moment...
lol
Remember our first year? The garden web folks came over and hated it, said it was all too small.. it was so small just a hand full of us. Me and Josephine really had to work our tails off that first year... this is what year 4 and it is like no effort needed! Life is good and we have been blessed in North Texas.
I'll definitely be there; it's on my Google Calendar and everything. :-)
dave
I'm going on a diet right now !!!
