Oct 28th looks good so far. Will be bringing my daughter. I saw on the Randol Mills website that there is one grill for public use. She likes H.National hdogs, so I'll probably bring a bunch of those, some charcoal, some buns, and ketchup/mustard.
Correction:
2 grills at pavilion and 1 large grill at the south area

Josephine or myself will keep track of the money. I think we can gather it up that day - Josephine tell me if I am wrong here.
Grilling would be great!
Robert and I are planning to attend. We will, of course, contribute to the rental and bring food.
Yes I will make the reservation and pay the fee, and we will collect at the swap. I will start a recap thread for the food and attendance later,
so we don't have a lot of duplications.
Josephine.
Thank you Josephine.
Count my crooked nose in! $5 np.
I will be bringing Sherry's Corn Cassarole! When we get a better head count, I may make two.
This is all contingient on the good Lord willing & the creeks don't rise!
:~)
I talked to my mom and it looks like she will be off work this weekend, so count three for us!
:) Kim
Count me in. I'll try to drag hubby along. It's too far away and too hot to think about what I might cook. Really looking forward to meeting everybody! Anita
Wow! things are really warming up, it looks like we will have a really nice group, I am so excited!!
Josephine.
I can see this will be the biggest and best yet!
Count me in (for both attendance + $5). I will also be delighted to help others carry their plants or compost to/from the parking lot. I won't have much, if anything, to trade -- but I am very good at feching and carrying. Can I bring plates, napkin, utensils instead of food?
Carla
That would work just fine Carla.
My 5 bucks and me will be there. I will use this spot to list trades later too.
I am planning to come, probably with my wife and daughter. We would most likely bring something desserty, unless there is going to be an overabundance - if that is even possible!
DH (Kevin) and I are coming with 3 kidos. 17, 15, & 9. Will contribute $5. Will let you know when I decide what dish to bring.
:-D
All right, things are really warming up, it is great to hear from all of you.
Josephine.
Do you all want to do door prizes again this year? It went great last year! Sheila and MamaJack would you like to put this together?
I will be more than willing to help Mitch.
Note to those who are new:
Please, don't spend big $$$ for door prizes, check out the dollar stores, or you can bring things you don't use anymore, garage sale goodies, books, hand tools, wind chimes, even potting soil lol! Or you can offer up a extra plant to a new home.
Great!
sheila.....................do "we" know how to do this? lol.
of course, i would be happy to help too but please lmk what i need to do.
In the past, we just took names as people arrive, and then put the names in a cup. We pick a prize and hold it up, let a kiddo draw then call out the gardener's name and they got that prize. Simple, but if someone has another suggestion that would be fun to try, I am all for it. It needs to move fast though, we get a lot of door prizes!
Dont worry all our swap activities are rather laid back
Yes Sheila, the way you described is the fairest way and I like that one.
Josephine.
I can't make the swap. So sad, I love to meet people as passionate about plants as myself. If anyone is going and traveling west on Hwy 80 or 20, let me know. I had really good luck with propagating this year and can try to get even more cuttings started. No trades needed, the plants are just looking to hitch a ride to those who need them. lol
Cocoa, can you put a list of the plants you have on the trade thread? That way everyone can see it and I'll try to come pick them up a take them to the swap.
cocoa, could you meet me in terrell or some other place not so far from there? terrell is about 20 mi. from my house. how far are you from there?
Mamajack, Grand Saline is about 30 mi. east of Terrell on Hwy 80. Terrell would be almost halfway between you two.
Cocoa, please post what plants you would like too, that way we will know what to save for you.
Josephine.
Can my make a suggestion for the door prizes? Instead of picking an item and calling a name, how about calling a name and letting that person choose an item for himself/herself? That way everyone is assured of taking home something that they really want or need.
I'm not complaining about the way it was run last year -- I went home with 2 absolutely outstanding prizes -- but it seems more fair to let people pick their own goodies.
What do you think?
Carla
Hmmm.....the only problem I see with that is that the best items get picked first and then the people at the end are stuck with what is left, which isn't really fair. Although I suppose if all the items are awesome it wouldn't matter. But it is a thought.
:) Kim
we could go white elephant... let people "steal" them and take turns, 3rd steal it stays.
Last year there were so many items that we were able to go around 2-1/2 times. I was lucky enough to win 2 of the most sought after items, but I know some people left with 2 things they will never use. And Deb's poor daughter got a bag of compost. And y'all know that Deb stole that from her as soon as they got in the car! :-)
