Well ~ I hope you didn't miss the thread about NOT saying thank you for a plant... Hhhhmmmmmmm?

Crosbyton, TX(Zone 7a)

what thread? was that the international plant trading thread?

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

Nope, right here. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/749464/

Although I think it has been discussed elsewhere. I have heard this from some people around here that gave me plants ~ Not to worry, I still say thank you. It was drilled into me while growing up. : ))

I think the persian shield is lovely but after I tried one, I will admire it from afar. Look forward to seeing those photos ~ Sticks.

pod...what didn't you like about it?? do you like coleus? i SO love coleus and i like color in my garden especially in the shade which is my whole front yard....

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

I loved the color (purple fan here) I also loved the silver sheen the leaves had. I kept it in pots so I could control the moisture but some of them seemed to wither away.

When the survivors got bigger they got scraggly looking even when I pinched and pruned. I'm not a great hand at cuttings and was unsuccessful there too.

I wrote it off as pretty but being basically lazy, not worth the effort... Anyway, I will always admire it at your house... best wishes. ; ) pod

Sticks I love Coleus too and I would probably spend my $20 on those even though I have to overwinter them. I take lots of cuttings in the fall and overwinter those too.

My second idea would be to add a little to the $20 and buy another birdbath for another area of our yard.

Hey there!
Yep I've been terribly busy this summer. Mother had heart bypass surgery and of course my Dad has a chronic illness so I haven't had much time for my gardens this season or my gardening friends. It's a good thing we got rain or all my plants would be dead by now. LOL
My parents are doing much better now so I'm watering like crazy. It's really dry at our place now. I will be potting up a lot of things to winter over. Boy do I need to do some major weeding!!!

Crosbyton, TX(Zone 7a)

well good to see you .....and when ya get done you can come to my house:)

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

Dancey, I am so glad your parents are both doing okay! I have elderly parents who need care as well - I go twice a week and my brother goes at least that often so we are more or less staying on top of things.

Sticks I have more weeding to do than you can shake a stick at. LOL So I guess you're on your own with that project.

Murmur you know what I'm talking about then. ;) Fortunately my parents live right here close so all I have to do is walk across the driveway to check on them or help them. I'm the only sibling left so I've got my hands full. Thanks for the good thoughts. ;)
