Is it hot and humid where you are in Texas? Any flooding?

I am in Jacksonville EAST TEXAS.
Just south of Tyler
Looking at a map, Jacksonville is about 3-hours drive straight north of Houston's north side.

No Flooding but LOTS of rain. We have had rain for about 2 months now.
At the moment it is sunshine, but we will have scattered THUNDER Showers every day for the next two weeks at least. *sigh*

It is amazing that I have MGs growing at all, but they do love this rain. I have two more large areas that I'm starting seeds for now that I need to get in the ground when the rain will let me.

Yes, Texas IS BIG. . .

The couple of times we have driven to Colorado, it was more than half of the trip just to cross the Texas border in the Panhandle - a LONG trip . . . LOL

Emma, today's Lilac Luster bloom looks different than my earlier photo's.
I will send a pic later when I download They all faded fast in the 95 degree heat
except Rosita/youjiro.
Love the China Doll and the Fuji's. The Shibori Hige is drop dead
gorgeous.

I think the rains from Texas are moving east to Florida because I have been getting rain every day. Good because we needed it, but bad because some of the areas I have MGs planted are now wet areas. Don't know how long the MGs will last with wet feet. Probably not long. :-( Just another reason for me to start growing them in pots instead of the ground. I too only grow a few seeds from each cultivar just because of this reason of a possible weather condition unfavorable to the MGs, so I will grow the rest of the seeds out in the Fall in pots. I am so enjoying all the wonderful blooms posted here. What an exceptional thread! Thanks for all the eye-candy everyone! :-)

Oh, Emma - I don't know. I was able to go out while it was slightly drizzling last weekend - ooh, my clay soil was like melted butter . . . if I had done the digging I did on a sunny afternoon, it would have taken over an hour (and been much messier). As it was, it only took about 20 minutes! I'm hoping it will be as easy tomorrow! Gotta take advantage while I can.

LOL, Nichole! I, too, am guilty of working in the drizzling rain. (Provided there is NO lightning,) Much cooler and the dirt does come up easier unless it's at the bottom of my yard where it is like soup! Behind my fence (in the vacant lot) it is now swamp land! And we haven't even gotten any hurricanes yet this year! I need a row boat! LOL!

I have a few places like that too where I haven't amended my soil.
BUT, you both will be amazed at the difference it makes when you amend your soil and water actually will d-r-a-i-n instead of puddling up. I think that is why my MGs are loving this all so much.

Amending is a LOT of work and we've been at it for two year and STILL haven't gotten all of the beds done. Maybe next year we will get to the others.
BIG DIFFERENCE in all of my plants.

This is waaaay in the back of my property [that hasn't been cleaned out this year yet] with an alley access. Wisteria Vine on the left, and Blue Dawn on the right.
Look up in the tree between the utility poles *ha*

I forgot that I planted some Blue Dawn on the other side of the alley last year and it is at least 20' up in that tree.
