Hi, Louise, and welcome to the best forum on DG!! Your Molly is adorable! I love your shed. we're looking for one (probably larger than yours, though) with a porch so we can sit and look at the gardens.

I am going to take the earlier suggestion (was it Eleanor's??) and say 'Nice pics, everyone!' It's such a wonderful time of year. Every day something new.

I'll start with roses. 'Moonstone' just has this most perfect bud opening

'Sheila's Perfume' (haven't had a chance to smell it yet)

almost all of the new roses (@70) I put in this year have bloomed now. 2 are spring bloomers only, so will have to wait until next year. three are not in the ground yet.

Great shots Jan.

Beautiful Eleanor and Jan! Jan, there's just so much to comment on. Each photo was better than the last! You're making my 'must have' list longer! I'm not complaining though!

*sigh*

I am so jealous of everyone's garden! Ours may be large, but it isn't near as full nor as beautiful - yet - as everyone else's.

All these photos have me making lists of things I want. I want everything!!! LOL!!

Louise, that is the most beautiful little potting shed I have ever seen. Did you and DH build it, or did you get it somewhere?

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Harper:

You and I are certainly on the same wave-length!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

I noticed! How can you not feel in love with everyone's gardens! And that shed! Love it! I fell asleep last night dreaming of my fantasy shed and where I'm gonna put it.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Just stopping in at lunch - Jan - there are a few disbudding tricks, but very often the first flowers form way down in the plant. I'll post some disbudding pics for you later.

I'm picking Shocking and Moonstone today.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

'Fantasy shed'!!? You have to do better than that - especially after the massage post.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Yeah, right? But it's true! My dreams were about my gardens... Saturday's dreams were a little more lucious...

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Glad you all liked my little potting shed! I'll try to get a shot of the inside.....it is my grownup's playhouse, but I have to confess - I really only have a half of it. The other half is home to the roto-tiller, mowers, etc. BUT my little half is all me. I took all the various colors of leftover paints we had and sort of striped the inside with sage, red and cream colors, sewed some cool little plaid valances for the windows, added some of my Blue Ridge pottery cups and saucers and a rooster plate, found an old $5.00 wooden bar-type chair at a flea market for my work bench, put in some shelves to hold all the "stuff" we all use constantly, put in a threadbare old oriental rug and a rattan chair inside that I can easily bring out to my little deck when a visitor comes, added a dog bed for Molly and some of my birdhouse collection up in the rafters, and Voila - a place to do pot painting, keep my garden literature and my planting journal notes, etc. What I really enjoy is right outside Cuppatea (and yes, Eleanor - you can see why I call it that from your response!!) We live in a 1763 farmhouse, and we transported the old kitchen sink cabinet with the old farm sink in it (painted cherry red by moi!) up to my garden area next to the well faucet. We dug a drywell under it, hooked up my coiled hose from the well, and now I can use the sink to wash off all my veggies and to mix fertilizers, etc.. I cover it with tent cloth when I'm not using it to preserve the wooden cabinet part. It is a fun and functional add-on to the potting shed.

Isn't it fun to use what's just lying around?? I'll see if I can find a photo of the garden sink with my weedy veggie garden in the background. I know I have one somewhere....

Candyce - the shed was Amish-built (and very sturdy) and delivered already painted to match our old farmhouse. I can find the name of the people we dealt with if you are ever interested. They are pretty reasonable and they did a great job with the stone foundation, etc..

Harper - keep your dreams filled with fun things like potting sheds. I know just what you mean, because that's what I always wanted and would spend lying awake time envisioning just what I would do if I had one- just a little spot to make my own to play in. Fortunately, when we needed a tool shed, my DH went along with granting me rights to half of it. It's modest, but it's just my cuppatea!

Grampapa - Now that I've see so many of your gorgeous flowers (great photographers you all are!!) I can understand why you probably need a much bigger shed than mine is!! All you need is a little porch added to any size shed to have a little nook out of the sun for a rest and a tea or coffee at breaktime. Oh My....you have some pretty flowers!

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

I got such a kick out of this daylily I had to share it with you.
This goes to show you just how confusing my gardens are *lol* Even the daylilies don't know what to do in it. This is EXACTLY how it bloomed too....I didn't do anything to the picture. Poor thing.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Kim, it's 'poor thing' because it only has 4 petals? Did I guess right?

DonnieBrook, your shed sounds fantastic on the inside too! Yes, I love daydreaming about what I'm gonna do in the gardens. If I actually worked in the garden as much as I daydream about them, I'd have BUILT my own shed by now.

Ah, well... time to go to the hammock for some zzzz's.

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Yes, that's right. It's truly not supposed to look like that *lol* Usually a daylily will have EXTRA petals which they call "poly" but this poor thing is MISSING petals *lol*

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Louise, please post a pic of the farmhouse!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Yay! I guessed right!

Oooh, yeah, pics of farmhouse Louise! I grew up in two farmhouses. One from the 1800s and one from the 1700s. Now I live in a house built in 1960 and it feels like plastic. Wait a minute, it IS plastic!

I'm only posting pictures of 'new' flowers today. Everything else I showed you, I think... or I don't want to show you because it's such a sloppy mess in there. Gotta learn the art of pruning. Tracy DiSabato-Aust, here I come!

Stargazer. I've got about seven of these. Mmmmm, smells great, especially at night.
