You can prominently see Morning Star in pink. Grandpa Otts, Cypress vine in two colours.
Few of my MGs in bloom now... in colours!
love them all - especially the first one that gives context to the blossoms - very cheerful and exuberant
Hi,
Grandpa Oats is my favorite. Love that color.
Thanks BettyFB. Nice Phlox. The plants posted above are also taking off very well.
Cypress are so pretty. I especially love their foliage.
Oh yes, the foliage are so attractive and so beautifully green!
Many thanks Joseph.
Dinu
It is about time you popped back in with us. It is good to see you again. Our friends from far away are always special here. Frank
Beautiful pictures Dinu. I especially like the cypress vines the put on such a show and the leaves our just so airy looking!! Keep them coming...
Thanks Frank. Will do so as this is the season for MGs.
Dinu,
Very nice glories and I really like the Cypress flowers.
A.
Dinu - I didn't know that there was a Cypress Vine cultivar that had pink blooms! Very nice. :-)
I've got some growing, but haven't had a single bloom yet. It's about 5' tall on a trellis. What am I doing wrong that I have no blooms? I seem to be short on blooms on many of my MG vines currently. What do I need to do to get them to bloom? When I did my Spring MG seeds, I got many blooms right away. Seems there are less blooms now that it is summer.

Becky,
I got those pink seeds from a trade recently. The sender had that packet mentioned 'pink, white and red mix'. All three are in bloom now. I had red already from one of my earliest trades here on DG some 5 years back. I'm now thrilled to have the white and pink. This pink has a beautiful pastel shade to it.
I guess you have fertilized it too much and so have too many leaves and no blooms. That could be one of the reasons. Many vines require ordinary soil and not too much care. That's my experience as well. Yours should bloom soon as it has grown high enough to get a bit old. Some appear later.
Dinu
Dinu,
I agree with Becky. I have grown Morning Glories in the past and learned the hard way---they do not like to be fertilized.
Betty,
I too learnt it here on DG [in fact, I am still learning many things], tried it out in my garden and am able to tell by experience!
Dinu,
I am still learning by experience too. I have had so many flops in my garden I care not to think about it. This year I have lost 3 of the Vista Bubblegum petunias and I have no clue why they died. They are one of the new Proven Winners and I have been on their website and two people at that company are still trying to figure out why the flowers just up and died . But I have these pink petunias growing in a planter and they are doing great.
Betty - Your pink display is beautiful! What a great idea!!!
I tried one treatment of BloomBooster. Other than that, I have done nothing else. No blooms! It has been raining a LOT here. I wonder if that might be the problem. Too much rain? Though that usually comes in the late afternoon. Mornings and early afternoons it's been sunny and hot.
Hi Joseph,
The vine is a Mandevilla Vine. I took a picture of a White Mandevilla that I saw at a Garden Center a couple of days ago and next year I plan to plant a White Mandevilla and a Pink one together and that should make an interesting combination. I will post a picture of the White Mandevilla. The pink flowers are Vista Bubblegum Petunia--pretty new and it is a tough plant and spreads like crazy. In that planter are only 2 or 3 Vista Bubblegum Petunias. I also planted one Purple Wave Petunia and one Sky Blue Petunia but the pink ones are about to overtake the others and so far the petunias have had 2 'hair cuts' to keep the petunias off the lawn. I put all new soil in that planter this past April and put nothing in it but Miracle Gro Potting Soil and Miracle Gro Garden soil and the soil is light so the roots are able to spread and thus the plants are taking off. And I have only fertilized this planter with Algoflash , a liquid fertilizer I got from Burpee Seeds on line.
Thanks for the nice reply. And I have lost 3 Vista Bubblegum petunias so far--that I planted in the ground and have no clue as to why they just up and died on me.
Dinu,
Your pictures are beautiful. Are you a professional photographer? If not , you should be. Some of those shots would bring a lot of money I would think.
beckygardener,
Sorry , I was reading the thread too fast and thought Dinu was having the problems with getting the Morning Glories to bloom--just read it again and saw it is you. Well it does not seem you are over fertilizing , unless the soil is very rich in composted cow manure or something similar. It may be the heat. I know with my roses--when it is very very hot they just do not bloom. I read a reply from one member in Florida who said she wishes sometimes she lived further up North because at this time of the year she has very little that is blooming because of the heat.
Thanks for the nice reply about my planter. It is right next to the street so many many people see it daily and ask about.
If your morning glory does bloom please post pictures.
BettyFB,
Lovely show, brilliant I should say. I'm just a complete novice with photography, at least I consider myself as that. But I have absolutely no ideas how some of my shots can bring in a bit of money. Do you have any ideas? My experienced photographer [now retired] friend also thinks my shots are good and he also does mean what he says with other things, so I have to take his opinion seriously! Thanks for the appreciation. Your guidance could be of help.
Dinu
Hi Dinu,
I have no experience in the area of photography. I just know the pictures are so beautiful and the close up shots are breathtaking. You do not seem to be a novice. It is obvious you love to take the pictures!! I would just keep listening to your friend and ask him for further advice. I wish you lived in the States to teach me.
I ALWAYS enjoy your pics, Dinu. When I see your name on a thread I always pop in to see what you've "captured". BettyFB - AWESOME planter! What are the blue & pink blooms popping out of the ground by the white mandy at the garden center??? I want some... adorable!
AuntB,
You are so funny!!!! I am a little slow and did not get it at first and clicked on the picture again to look for blue and pink flowers and then finally I got it and had to laugh and laugh and laugh!!!!
Thanks AnutB.
Here is what grows as O'Hara. This is one of my first MGs I grew and has been doing quite well every season.
lol, I wasn't trying to trick you, Betty. Thanks for sharing your reaction. I've still got a big grin on my face. :) The little bloom girls are so cute. Love that hair bow!
Oh yes, I forgot to mention about Betty's girls in that picture. I endorse your view!
OOO wee! gorgeous! Such a dark pink, I love it!
Dinu this is fantastic!! http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=3777633
Hi AuntB,
I love that name you picked out , Makes me think of AuntB on the Andy Griffith Show and I still watch the reruns on tv. Big Hair Bows are very popular around here on little girls. Sophie loves her bows and she likes to line them all up in her room so I can count them. She has about 23 bows now---one to match each outfit. She is 2 and a half and she loves to wear dresses. Today I put her in a cute dress that is really too big for her and she said. " I look pretty in this dress." Go to the Photos Forum and view the pictures I took of the girls last week in my back and front yard. I took a hundred pictures in 2 days---and posted a few of them. The girls were so good letting me take their pictures--that I surprised them with two new Dora dolls. Needless to say they were thrilled.
Aunt B and Dinu--- The girls are not mine. I am a nanny and have been for years and still love it.
All the plants look nice...
Just a reminder about the general term 'fertilizer'...

Have fun...
