Feature: friends and groups

ecrane3 was on the right track; you had to have previously added members to a group before it would allow you to enter new ones (what a funny bug). This is now fixed!

I love ya Dave, but so far I'm underwhelmed with all of the new changes. I am on dial up and have no other option at this point. This site has slowed to a crawl! I will wait for a few days before I make a final decision, but I'm not really excited about the changes at this time.

That's odd; none of the changes I've made should have affected the speed at which DG loads. It still is extremely responsive for me.

Really enjoying this new feature but a question came up. If you want to refer back to it, how do you find it without someone posting again?

Nice feature.

Just heard of this. Great change. I have been gently warning people about posting photos of their family - especially children. This gives one layer of security - they can post in their diary. I have never used the diary but will check it out now. Hiding the location is another plus. Thanks Dave. With over 300k members now, these changes are very important.

When I go to My Info and click on Manage Friends and Groups it immediately takes me back to the home page? Help!

I'm not sure I'm friends with myself though! Sometimes we have issues.

When I click manage friends and ? nothing happens...........what am I doing wrong.....what would i do if I wanted to add a friend?????????????

To add a friend you need to go to their homepage and click on "add ______ to your friends group." It is the last thing listed in the "Actions" box.

oh, thank you sooooo much!! I am 65 and a tad computer challenged...........

So far, so good. Today things are working smoothly and in a timely fashion. Even my cranky server seems to be having a good day! But its still early and that part is subject to change!

I haven't had a chance to explore all the new stuff yet, but I will soon.

When I click on the member name, the box for the picture comes up and the info but they are both showing over the post below and it makes it really hard to read. And no picture is no fun. Does this go back to Norton???

Only members who have added a picture of themselves will have it appear...

I am still having trouble/confusion. I clicked on a few names to add to my friends/group. Now when I go to my info and manage my friends/group and click on it .... it again takes me right back to the home page!

Can you help?
When I enter on a name ... instead of seeing the person's page like before ... it brings me right back to the top of the thread I was reading. Then I have to find the person's name all over again. I've tried clicking again but am not having any luck. I don't use a mouse. Does this make a difference? This isn't working for me unless I'm missing something. Thanks for any help you can give me. :-)

The same thing happens to me.....from Home Page I click on My Info, click on Manage (it happens with pretty much everything in there, and has for weeks), it takes me right back to Home Page. I haven't been able to to much of anything with that stuff for a long time.

This may be a problem just for me..............will have to ask the computer tech.............I did shut the computer down on XP completely. Then i turned the computer on to go to a photo program on Vista on another hard drive on this computer.................switching back and forth may be creating problems...........don't worry about it...........i did try again and the same thing happened........took me right back to the home page .....it is okay.................I can dmail all my friends anyway............(for the time being)..........thanks for the help...............

I was having the same problem, and it happened once before when I was trying to change my preferences. I generally use Internet Explorer to run DG. If I switch over to Mozilla Firefox it works perfectly.

I use Mozilla Firefox and didn't even have the new IE put on this..............that new version threw me for a loop.................and really messed up the 'puter.

I don't know what Mozilla is, but I still can't use my "manage" things.....they just put me right back at Home Page. Thought I was being punished for some infraction or other, but if others are having the same problem....what gives?

It's all working fine for me when I go to it through the My Info page. I'm using IE version 6.

Obviously it is working fine for some, but not for others....Dave, are we doing something wrong?

I really have no idea at all. I've tried logging in as several members on this thread and was able to access your groups management area with no problem.

I am absolutely at a loss as to why you cannot access it.
