Anita...I answered up above on Post #3708602. Don't make me confess again!!!! LOL

holy cow - and I saw that too!!!!

I was bidding on a 4 fan clump of "Francis of Assisi" when you asked that question. I almost didn't bid!!! But I did anyways, I have wanted this one for a long time for sentimental reasons. My brother Francis passed away at the age of 40, 13 years ago. I have wanted this daylily for a few years now and this was a great deal that I couln't pass up!! Hope I win!!!!!!

Celeste, is peak daylily season for you right now???

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

No, not yet Kassia. Being in the North i'm a bit later than everyone else. Also this strange spring and cool weather seems to have delayed them some. I have one or 2 blooming every day but no "clump shots" yet.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I am waiting for one certain daylily to bloom....it had 75 buds last year on one clump. I am excited to see what it does this year, it already has 7 scapes with multiple buds on it.

Ours are a bit slower this year, too. And our weather has been pretty much the same as yours there in SC, ME. Also, as we were expanding our front garden, some of the DL got a bit more than disturbed! So, our blooms are a bit late as well - although one did bloom yesterday.

I'm going to have to do some research about all the fantastic colors I am seeing on everyone's DL. Does anyone have a recommendation about where to read up on these, or which nursery to order from?

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Last year I had to dig up about 20-30 of my daylilies to move as they were right along the house and we got a new house. I didn't think I would have any blooms but more than 1/2 of them actually have scapes on them. I am SO excited about this. It will probably be another week or so before mine start to open but I go out and talk to them every morning *lol*

Here is a HUGE surprise in my garden this year which I was thrilled about. I tried starting double yellow and double purple seeds inside last year and had about 6 little seedlings which I planted outside too early. The seedlings all died. Next year I will wait longer before trying to put inside seedlings outside :(

I had this in my garden last year and collected TONS of seeds from it. Guess I missed a few seeds as this actually wintered over in my garden. In spring I didn't know what they were so I was weeding them out. I must have missed a few and have 3 plants which escaped my weeding. I also got cleome which self seeded this year for the first time. That has never happened in my zone 5 garden before either.

2 valuable lessons learned:

Wait longer before transplanting out
DO NOT weed anymore *lol*

hmmmm - can't seem to upload an image. Anyone else having this problem?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Kim, that over wintered for you????? Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

I know Pixie, I couldn't even believe it! I have a whole baggie of seeds from last year but I started the double yellow and double purple instead (which died). I didn't plant a single seed of this and had no idea what the foliage looked like so I have been weeding it out. So glad I missed 3 of them. I have never heard of Datura overwintering this far north :)

I have HUGE amounts of seed from last year of it if you would like some to winter sow this year :)

Kim:

That's awesome! As for setting plants out, we try to wait until Memorial Day weekend, but sometimes the temptation to set them into their homes is just too great!!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I would love some!! You have Dmail.

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

That's what it was, the temptation to plant them out got to me so bad one day. I kept calling my gram and asking....can I plant my MG out yet gram and she'd say no Kimmie....wait until Memorial day...so I would wait a few days and call her again....same answer. So I planted the Datura outside instead and they perished. I had raised them all winter too.....was dis-heartening but seeing this beauty made up for it. I will try again as I think I still have some of the double yellow and double purple seeds left (I like to only try a few that way I have backups for when I screw up *lol*)

So many beauties, Everyone!

Kassia, I can't wait to see your spotted bulb blooming. And, I'm not a big marigold fan, but yours looks great.

Pixie, my favorite of this recent wonderful bunch is your delicate pink mallow. I hope you get the St. Francis lilies that you bid on.

Victor, beautiful blue Endless Summers.

Hey, I finally took pics.

I planted a Jackmanii clematis and thought it died, so I planted another there. Now, the dead one came back. They both don't look the same. Which one is the Jackmanii and what might the other be? Anybody know?

Why did I plant lavender in front of a purple/lavender blooming speedwell? What's a good companion plant for lavender? I think I'm moving it.

I went to take pictures yesterday evening and the battery died. Only got this lily that I need to look up, growing through Endles Summer. In the background you can see the orange lily I posted earlier. But as everyone kept commenting on the nice "yellow lily, I figured I needed to take a better pic. it is Baja
