That doesn't look like slug damage to me. Slugs generally eat holes all of the way through a leaf, and the leaf remains green.

Ayrshire Scotland, United Kingdom

The bird feeding on the slugs picture, was just the thing I needed to cheer me up after all the confusion about the slug killers being banded about, here in UK we have hundreds of different slugs and snails to contend with from tiny white ones to large black/brown and even spotted ones, all have huge feeding frenzies in the evening when it gets dark, damp or just plane old humid, some lay eggs under ground in little clusters of white ball shape eggs, others lay eggs on the plants and earth close to the stems where the new hatched babies will find easy feeding, both male and females lay eggs so there is no point trying to sex these creatures as it is impossible, but the best way to tackle slugs/snails is to make sure you dont leave untidy plant material laying about for them to hide under when daybreak comes, no old bits of wood or other rubbish that will offer a cool dark place for them to rest up till next evening, the only point I would say about killing the slugs AND trying to attract wildlife into the garden, every time we use any poison, chemicals etc to get rid of the slugs, there is always a creature who will come eat the dead or dying slugs, and before we know it, we have also killed the very creatures we want to encourage into the garden, some birds will even carry the dying slugs back to the nest to feed the babies and believe me, that is a horrific death for any baby animal
I know it is time consuming to gather these slugs up and destroy them, but it is the safest way to do it for animals and humans alike, I go into the garden early evening, with a torch light, a glove on hand and a bucket of boiling water, pick up the slugs and drop them into the bucket and then in the morning, tip the bucket onto the lawn or garden flower beds, and the birds have a great time eating up the tender cooked slugs, or either flush them down the toilet/drain or into the compost heap, as you tidy/dig your borders, eggs will come to the surface and you just stamp on them, this way no damage has been done to any animals that come out at night while we are in bed, and by day, kids, pets and birds are kept safe from all the chemicals, salts etc that are scattered around the garden to try kill the slugs, another way to keep the slugs off the pot plants is to wrap a copper band around the bottom of the pots, the slugs get an electric shock from this and cant climb up to eat your plants that are in the pots. good luck with the slug hunt, hope all you garden birds can help you get rid of the slugs, and they will thank you for your kindness. WeeNel.
