I was watering yesterday morning and moving one of the sprinklers. Of course pulling on it backwards! Usually I am more aware of where I am but was in a hurry and tripped over a wall and twisted a bit and landed on my right hand. Good thing the soil in the bed is soft! I might of broke it, I landed so hard. I can feel that fall allover.
Then several days ago I tripped over the pond pump cord. I have to slow down at home. I'm a danger to myself! No accidents so far today. I'm trying to be more careful.
Best Thing/Worse Thing and What did I learn today? Part 7
Easy to do I'm sure...get concentrating so much that you forget to look for the dangers...poor Darius almost perished because of a fall the other day...will probably take a few days to rid yourself of all the aches and pains...
I am SOOOOO bored here today, can't you just tell..clients are in with both Suzanne and Paul so I dare not paint..maybe this afternoon that will fill in a few hours..such nice weather don't doubt Paul will leave shortly...he had 2 other pieces of tarps for other boat to repair..should say I'll leave early and have them back by tomorrow a.m. lol..not, think we're getting Friday off again so that more than compensates...
Wonder how very proud you must be on your weight loss, way to go! Give yourself a big hug you deserve it.
Shar I have a rack in my bathroom with heat mats and lights *LOL* doesn't everyone want to look at over a hundred seedlings when they tinkle? And yes its very hot and humid here, can't really say we have much going for us here in Orange. I'm looking for an excape route as we speak *G*
Ves Tell the DH I'd like a one too please, it's the only Ford I'd touch.
Well the babies are at the salon getting their hair "done" although what you can do to a Schnauzers hair I don't know...lol pretty sure Zorro (dog we are babysitting) isn't use to this treatment. Hope he's not so spoiled his owners don't want him back when they come home from vacation.
Good Morning,
Whew I am late today! Had a heck of morning. Woke up too late, then car needs gas so driving on red line to-Oops no credit...Now how do I break the news to hubby(hmmm)-Go to use bank card and it's not working-I think it's damaged! Just got paid so I know there's cash--so now what, Arrrr scrounge around my car and my bag-cough up 5bucks in change and 5 dollars lunch money -and get a whole 8 gals. yow- and now I am late with everything today. Ahh well will do what I can.
Betty, I finally found Toronto, Barre, and Midland-so I do got a general idea where you are, Still don't see your town. You got a heck of a drive to work.
I drive only 15 miles to work-takes about 45 min in traffic 30 hr. in no traffic.
I am posting my little house and will have to come back in a bit to make the rest of my post-- Heres the house cut glued and nailed.
Is it going to be a replica of your home..surely it will not be a birdhouse? If so, they'll nest and never leave..you are so talented...what will the windows be made of? These projects sure do take time don't they...
I'm great with larger projects, not so much miniatures...
I've a project in mind that I saw somewhere and am trying to con myself into making it a 'weekend' project..would put it in the front garden...
Don't know if I can explain it properly but will try..some of you may wish to try it...
first I must cement 2 - 4x4's... one on each side of the garden maybe about 4 or 5 feet away from each other, then attach with 4x 4 top beam and bottom beam to secure...then either purchase or make a large picture frame about same 4 or 5 feet in size...then from the centre is hung a large/large hanging plant...looks better than what I'm explaining I'm sure...well, let's see how much energy I have this weekend...need to do homework over weekend on 2 muskoka chairs that I'm painting for the front year on July 7th...
I NEED A LIFE!
Ves...so cute..love it...
Judy..your own little 'miniature village'.....need to see more..
Oh Vess-What a beautiful bed!! No wonder you are pain Look at the size of those boulders! You did an awsom job....and LOL I say go for the Mustang!
I really love little things-they are so much easier for me to handle -I am not a big person sooo the smaller the better-even my garden equiptment are small-well with the exception of my tiller...Anywho-The little house started out to be a birdhouse, but i busted out laughing after nailing it together, a rather large birdhouse. It could be converted but i would have gate in the section as I have a villan cat Boots for a neighbor. so i thought i would use the inside as a seed container. The windows will be plexiglass that the hardware store will cut into small sections. Also the stonework needs to be added. In answer to your question Betty yes! it is a replica of my home.
attached pic is the real deal- then I'll post what it looked like when we bought it 9 years ago.
wow, and I thought I did a major renovation to mine...love the color...well I'll just have to take a look in the wood forum..
Vicki...love the yellow petunias..although I have quite a lot of flowers, for the amount of gardens that I have,it's mostly greenery at this time of year..I'm going to have to research and find out what I can plant that will be in full bloom at this time of year...just learning...
Everyone must be very busy today!
I think I am back on track so taking a minute to post-
Araness, how fun to Puppy sit-Zorrow, might not want to go home!
Liz how fun to be able to spend the Floating -I'm sure you enjoyed the day with the kids.
Shar, What are you upolstering? eyebrows raised with excitement, never done it myself but looks like something fun to learn.
Too funny jazzy climbing up your leg, ouch minus the razor sharp lettle daggers tearing you up. Hope you like my little house pics-Thanks for asking.
Wonder-so glad you are all feeling better! Congratulations on the weight loss. Bet you feel great! I think writing is an incredible talant. Maybe someday you will share a piece with us.
Darius-Amazing how some meds affects us. Glad your not falling, but do be careful about just stopping. Maybe the doc will give you a lesser dosage.
Vicki-Hey I so relate to your excitement on the visit with your sister. I am keeping you in my prayers that everything goes according to plan. Sounds like you are tornadoing around making ready...LOL or just keeping busy to pass the time. You want to visit in one piece so please do slow down.
Betty-you must have gotten busy today. Glad you son and DIL liked their gift.
a big heavy sigh, still got another 1 to go here...Wish I had some work to do.
Best-Company meeting kept me from starving.
Worst-No work to do and everyone is busy(boohoo)
Leaned-I miss staying home in summer.
Hope everyone one else is doing great today.
Judy
Judy,
:Your house is great! Love the color.
I am upholstering couch and 2 chairs. The couch is actually a love seat, but just long enough to fit me. I had given my long sectional to my son, then moved the loveseat and chair into the den where the big sofa was.....turned the unused living room into a library.
anyway...it is a big job, but I like to do it. the second chair will stay in the living room/library.
am attaching a picture of a corner of the couch, sent it to Betty this morning to show her a table I had found at a junky place and rescued. You can tell I like red...anyway, the new fabric is similar to the old on the couch...and the table in the picture is painted in a Lowes paint called garnet, a really dark red...looks magenta in the photo, but really matches the new fabric. (Matches the old for that matter) I sent the photo to betty to show her the gold leaf that I did with a piece of cheesecloth instead of a brush...anyway,
I think my furniture would go well with your house!
so here's the picture...will post more later tonight.
OK, apparently I had unwatched this thread, so I'm sorry I've missed you guys. Feel like I'll never get caught up, so for now, I'll just move forward the best I can
Best: Made a date to have dinner with one of my girlfriends tommorrow night! Woohoo, a social outing that doesn't involve the boyfriend, his aggravating family, or the daughter!
Worst: The heat, if that's all I can complain about, that's pretty good.
What I learned: Wow! I statrted working with a new person today, and boy, aren't teenagers fun!
I have finally caught up on all the posts. It is so interesting to catch a glimpse into your backgrounds. It makes me even more grateful for the life that I've had. I'm the fifth of six children and I had a very stable home. We were the only grandchildren of my mother's parents so we were very close to them. They were full-time grandparents and I think we spent as much time with them as with my parents. I certainly have more memories of their house and their apartment in Toronto. Sometimes I think that it's too bad that my children don't have that same kind of relationship with their grandparents. I know that my kids would love to see their grandparents more but living in Moose Factory means that it's a 5 hour train ride and 11-12 hour drive to get to them. Reading some of your entries has made me realize how lucky I am to have parents (and in-laws) that I want my children to know.
It seems like I've been so busy recently. I've been walking DS to school because it seemed that he was getting overwhelmed on the bus. Of course, DD figures that since I'm going to the school anyway then I should visit her classroom so I've been spending most of my mornings at the school. I really do love to visit, I even got to participate in a fire drill. For the past couple of years I volunteered in a couple classes doing music. I didn't volunteer this year because I had a baby in November and figured that I needed the year off. It's so nice to see the kids though. It just means that I don't accomplish much in the mornings. I've also started babysitting again. It isn't every day but some days are 12 hours so it can be draining. I am very much looking forward to summer vacation. DH is a teacher so he'll be around lots and I love having my children home. Only a couple more days to go.
Best - DS's kindergarten graduation. I never really understood the whole thing with kindergarten graduation. He was excited though so that was nice.
Worst - I went to pick up something at the health unit and found out they switched to summer hours. They're usually open till 5 pm but they closed at 4 pm. I'll have to go again tomorrow when they're open.
Thing I learned - Two of my friends are getting married. This could actually be a 'best thing' too. I'm very excited for them.
That will have to be it for now. I need to check on supper.

well thanks guys...
i cant believe it, A LITTLE VILLIAGE!!! that is soooo cool.... my GD would love that... I will have to give that some thought!
Oh i finally get it betty, your making pavers! How clever.. is there no end to your talent? I admire you.
Take care in your gardens .....
will post after my day... this evening... its hard catching up with you guys with the time difference and all.
xx
Do you believe in signs? When my dad was sick, I wrote him a book called "I Need A Rainbow." To me, a rainbow symbolizes God's promise and I interpret that promise to mean hope and peace. Well, I've been telling God and Daddy for the last 2 months that I need a rainbow. I had my final exam in one class today and had to present my final project to get my Master's Degree at noon today. I left my house just as the sun was beginning to rise (it's a 2-hour drive to the university and I had to be there by 8:00 AM). In the west, there were ominous rain clouds. Then I saw a faint hint of color. The color grew and got brighter. THERE WAS MY RAINBOW! God knew the exact day I needed that rainbow and He gave it to me. I also saw it as a sign that my dad was with me in spirit. A wave of peace came over me. I made an A+ on my exam and aced my presentation! I will get my master's degree in 5 weeks! Just wanted to share this wondrous experience with all of you. love to all, julie
WOW I MISS ONE DAY AND 1/2 AND iT TOOK AN HOUR TO READ EVERYTHING. I can`t even remember what everyone said but I`ll attempt to . Loved the story about being chased out of your house by your own clothes.
Darius, that pond water is yucky, you are going to get some vaginitis or wound infection. You are a stubborn fool. I thought I was bad and I am but you????
Loved all the pictures, it made me want to get on the ball and get some cement to make some stepping stones too for my new side, I`ll probably put wallpaper scraps or calender pictures on some and shellac them or waterproof it somehow and maybe mosaic some.
The cat thing is so cute, because they really do feel our emotions and our pains. If I have a bad pain somewhere my Shar pei goes straight to it and licks the muscle right where I need it.
Julie-How very PROUD Daddy, God and all of us are of you!! Congratulations on a job very well done! Yes I most certainly do believe in signs. So glad yours came exactly when you need it.
I am choked up here-very sentimental "fool" I am especially for Happy accomplishments!
Good for you.
Judy
Lost my post...
Here I am after a long ride home..traffic was bumper to bumper and I didn't get home until 7..Aunt and cousin came to visit at 7:10 to 7:55..then it's t.v. bingo (no I didn't win the big bucks) so it's been a long day since 4:45am..supper on stove, fresh yellow beans, new potatoes..no meat..too late to cook, really to late to eat so might just save it for tomorrow night...
Best thing was the visit...cousin wants to do some 'stepping stones' so she'll drop in on Friday (hoping I'm off Friday) Aunt Muriel is getting older..boy can she talk..if you say 2 words she's off on something that happened 40 years ago..she can tell you everybodies birthdays/weddings/ general info since Christ was a baby..really...but I do love her..she'd give you the shirt of her back...I've learned just to nod a lot..lol...
Worse thing...well 2 I guess...BIL came in this morning to tell me he put the covers on pontoon boat and the top comes in 3 pieces, guess when he purchased the boat last year he didn't check everything was there..says he'll pick up canvas and knows I can make a new one...yep guess I can...then Aunt visited mom at the cottage and I had given her several years ago a paper tole picture with miniature lights which light the windows in the house and and some in background...well, the lights no longer work and she wants them replaced...omg...that will be quite an undertaking..then she would like the double matts changed..so another project to keep me out of mischief..I don't mind really..for those of you who do not know what paper tole is, it's taking anywhere (at least I do) from 6 to 8 of the same print..cutting different layers to create a 3d effect...i.e. the house would have walls, another dimension the windows, another dimension the roof, another dimension, snow etc. etc. each dimension is adhered with clear silicone.. quite time consuming but oh so relaxing..
I'll include photo of the piece but am sure you cannot see the dimension
but I'll show you one from front view and one from side view..not sure I'm explaining it well enough..
What did I learn...maybe I should consider giving perfume, bath oils etc. things that don't need repairs..lol..
2nd thing I learnt..when you are posting on a thread and for whatever reason you open up a photo...magic happens...post gone...
this one is of same photo that I took on an angle to show you...I'm sure though you all have seen paper tole..I'm tired and you can always tell I ramble on, just like Auntie Muriel..yep...
Julie I am so proud of you. I never went to college but may start now that my last kid just graduated. I love that when you pray about something like that and it comes. I am praying that we will have a rainy period this summer even though it is not to be raining until November.
Araness they are little boogers I can tell? lol Gilibean you are so blessed to have great inlaws and parents too.
funny story. One time my sis and I went to Ohio and stayed in my Grandma Bobbi`s house that was built in 1834 or 1836. The whole family had us hearing about all the people who had died in the house and all the unexplained goings on over the years. I was sceptical about the truth of it all but in the night, I woke up to creeking and footsteps in the middle of the night. I could hear it behind the wall that my bed was on. I had to pee because I had taken lasix for h2o retention from my period and really had to go however there was this red glow now floating in the air and I could smell something. It was there and then gone and all the time it followed the footsteps. I woke my sis up to go with me to the bathroom especially because the house had a celler door from the bathroom and the doors were always opened up so you looked like you were looking into hell.
My sister laughed at me then she heard it too so we were both scared. In the morning my aunt came over and was yelling in Ukrainian at my grandma and grandma was yelling back. I heard one word in ?English( smoking )and ",Mom your such a "B"@$&^ ", my Bobbi said," You BEEsh too" (disfunctional Ukrainians they are). Later I got my Grandma to the side and said , "Bobbi were you smoking all over the house last night walking upstairs and down?"She said ,"OH DAWNY don`t tell anyone please.
My dang grandma scared the crap out of us. ( They were upset with her about it because she had emphasema and was on O2 and had congestive heart failure I found out later.)
just did the same thing again..went to look at Sher's photo and saw the hand painted tile book and came back to the post I had just written to you all and 'gone' so must be to tired tonight..will catch up in the morning..thanks to Sher this a.m. she kept me busy with d-mails to pass the morning away...some days are longer at work than others...
So dear friends, it certainly isn't that i didn't want to comment on your posts..they were so exciting..Julie..I'm just beside myself..how wonderful for you..will post tmr.

Ok the sister finally sent me the citation for my Dad's DFC and a few pictures, you'll have to just all suffer through this cause I'm just proud as I can be. The citation reads:
The President of the United States of America Authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, has awarded the DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS for Heroism to (Then) Warrant Officer Jack F. Saint United States Army
For distinguishing himself by heroic achievement while participating in aerial flight on 9 February 1965, in the Republic of Vietnam, while assigned to the 68th Aviation Company. On this date, Warrant Officer Saint was pilot of an armed UH-1B helicopter participating in a rescue mission. Warrant Officer Saint landed his helicopter under heavy fire to rescue the crew of another helicopter that had been shot down. Disregarding his personal safety, Warrant Officer Saint jumped from his aircraft, braving intense enemy small arms fire, to reach the crew of the downed aircraft. Recovering the injured crew of the downed helicopter, he returned to his own aircraft to find his co-pilot incapacitated from wounds. Warrant Officer Saint directed his door gunner and crew chief to return fire against the enemy forces, advancing on the landing zone, while he regained control of the damaged helicopter and fought his way out of the area. Once clear of the landing zone, Warrant Officer Saint directed the door gunner and crew chief as they provided first aid for their wounded comrades. Upon return to the helicopter staging area, his superiors determined that Warrant Officer Saint's helicopter was too damaged from enemy fire to continue flying and had it evacuated to the rear area for major repairs. Warrant Officer Saint's actions have shown a personal heroism and gallantry, professional competence, and concern for the safety of others, which are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
When they gave Dad the award my sister said many called out, "Speech, speech." All he said was, "I just did my job."
It's late tonight, and I have been up since about 6 a.m. because Jazz decided my face was his pillow...so I will shortcut and just tell Julie congratulations...job well done!!! We are all so proud of you.....and so is your DAD!!!
Fun stories tonight, thanks for sharing.
Best: keeping betty entertained this morning....cause she was so bored at work.
worst....nothing bad except major thunderstorms which took the electricity away for about 2 1/2 hours this afternoon...had computer withdrawal...
what I learned: gotta do something when the lights are out and it is storming....cats were under the bed, and I thought about crawling under with them, but instead I got rid of junk that had accumulated on my fridge door...about all I could see to do since it was so DARK for so long! (old photos, unknown phone numbers, grocery lists that i forgot to take with me, etc., etc) and what's on your fridge door?
so...till tomorrow, sleep well...hugs.
sher
