I'd be able to contribute a dahlia to that thread but no photos until it blooms. Now it's about 1/2" tall.
What's blooming today # 2
I don't know about the damage difference but it's easier to catch a slug (yuk) than an earwig.
Very lovely flower, Anita.
Uh oh, Anita - that looks like Star of Yelta MG - one of my nightmares.
Anita - mainly by seeing which one is around. For me slugs need a lot of surface moisture to be happy, earwigs just like some dampness.
Nice rudbeckia - do you have them seeding everywhere?
I think this is one of the darker versions of Cherokee Sunset that I didn't like - it overwintered. I usually just save the seeds from ones I like.
It's Grampa Otts Victor. I got it in a trade last year. Al, they only reseeded where I had them last year. I guess that means they like it.
Bigsky Sundown slowly showing it's color.
Must be snowing.
The flower looks like Balloonflower, the leaves I'm not sure match though.
Maybe a Campanula?
(Al - your snow comment was cute.)
Nice photos, Pixie. I agree with Al and at first I thought it was balloon flower, too, until I saw the foliage so I guess Victor has the answer.
Campanula Persicifolia
Thanks polly!! I looked it up on plant files and you were right.....and fast!

Pixie, they seed all over for us here, but never invasively. And you never know if they will be blue or white.
I have c. persicifolia and that's what I thought Pixie had until I saw the foliage. Mine has very upright, thicker stems. Pixie's foliage looks more similar to coreopsis foliage.
Maybe it's the angle?
Ask Polly.
I'm pretty positive this is campanula persicifolia. They start out with a basal rosette of long thin leaves, and in summer grow tall quickly with thin stems with thin scattered leaves. There are quite a few cultivars, and they have more substantial stems and foliage, such as Chettle Charm. (But I've been wrong before).
Yours appears to be a cultivar. The ones I've grown, Chettle Charm, and Telham Beauty do have more substantial stems. I went down and looked at mine this morning, and the foliage and stems look just like Pixies. Yours is absolutely gorgeous. That color is great.
Nice color, Dave. That blue really stands out in the garden.
I, too, have Chettle Charm and love it's light violet edges.
Candyce, that's going to be a very nice area.
Pixie, is that iris in Post #3652909 a spuria?
I believe it's a Dutch iris called " Blue Magic"
Thanks Pixie. I'm surprised Dutch Iris do well for you up there. I've not been able to overwinter any here. Very pretty blue.
