Excuse me Deb....daylilies are the good stuff!!
Sunday June 24 RU...
Kassia - the Hummus is coming with pita bread. (It is middle eastern chips and dip.) Hummus is chickpeas with garlic, lemon juice and sesame seed tahini - I'm going to put some different "fixins" in it for variety. Don't know if sesame seeds count as nuts - but thought that I would mention it anyway.
Well, this is turning into a big 'to do'. I had missed this thread.
After having meet Kassia, I can assure everyone that it will be fun.
There should still be a few strawberries that I could bring. I have some flower seeds and a couple plants, too. I have to check.
Andy P
yes, it's a big thing!!!!! oh it's sounding better by the second!!!!! I am glad you are coming Andy!!!!
Pixie - I made almost $20 on tomato plants alone! I was charging more for daylily divisions, even though I can't remember which ones they are. Fortunately, they are close to blooming.... hopefully by sunday?
kassia,
you didn't put me and Leo in your list above. :-(
we will bring the paper products. we have lots of things left over from the round up last year. (sm & large plates, plastic & styrofoam cups, plastic ware & napkins.
if anyone needs me to bring small chinette bowls, i have those too.
I can't eat bell peppers but i can eat dessert. :-)
i'm bringing perennials and annuals.
see you soon!

I apologize for my late reply. I have been waiting to find out exactly when our son would be arriving on leave from his deployment in Iraq. I just spoke with him and he is now in Kuwait and will leave there for the U.S. tomorrow so probably won't arrive
home until Sunday.
we are thankful he has left Iraq safely though he does have to return there for another 6 months. Anyway, I will miss your gathering but hopefully can attend one nearby in the future. Framingham would have been perfect as I am only a half hour away in Franklin. Have fun!! I love reading all your postings !!
Sue43
I am so happy for you and your son. :-)
Great news Sue - please thank your son. And thanks to you and your family as well. Enjoy your time with him!
Great Sue... we will miss you but since you are not that far please come over... we will do a RU of 2... well, Laura and Debi are close by.... ah the possibilities!~~~
Give your son a BIG hug for me... and I pray you guys have a wonderful time together...
Sue, You wil be going to the BEST RU! Our gratitude to your family and especially your son.
Dave
What Dave47 said.
I think I will have enough strawberries to share. I don't know what to do with them so I may just clean them up and offer them whole so people can pick at them with a toothpick.
I have prepared a few packs of seed. Hardy Hibiscus 'Disco Bell' and Candy Lily as well as a few small bags of leftover Oxalis bulbs. Maybe a few Butterfly weed seedlings, too.
If anyone would like a Butterfly bush, I could bring a few 'bare root'. They are the standard light purple ones. Anyone wanting one should DM me so I know how many to dig up and pack Sunday AM. They are yearlings and will be pruned because it's the wrong time to move them but they will be fine. They are tough. I have at least 6 popping up in the wrong places.
It will be nice to meet everyone.
Sidekick Sarah will not accompany me, she is uncomfortable in crowds.
Andy P
Just got back from vacation .................... haven't had time even to think what to bring to eat or anything. I will bring me and PCA and wheelchair for sure, though.

sigh. Can I find the exchange list? So I can find Kassia's address? So I can come to the RU? No. I know I have gone past it wherever it is in here. Somebody help me! I won't have trouble finding it once I know where it is.
Martha

debi & franklin
Hi, I apologize; however, I do not know how to get to your address on the 'exchange list'. Could you please be so kind as to give me your address in case I am able to come towards the end of the party.
Thank you,
Isabelle
OK, I need help. I just picked gallons of strawberries. How much should I bring?
I'm not cooking them, just clean and offer whole ~ fresh. If someone wants to set up a 'shortcake stand' we might eat half of them, lol
I hate to have them go to waste. (Frugal New Englander that I am.)
I can bring 3 of these, at least.
Andy P
We are all frugal New Englanders. Food won't go to waste. (Maybe to waist!)
In case I don't get the chance later today - have a great time tomorrow everyone!! Take lots of photos and enjoy the ideal weather. Thank (The) Dave for making all this possible. Make sure Kassia enjoys herself and does not get caught up in hosting worries! Have fun.
Victor
Thank you! i found the exchange page. My brain feels so much better now!! I just came home with the stuff for the cheesecake. We can put strawberries on top of it if you like.
Martha
Aha! Shall I bring cream to whip, or do you guys mind the pre-whipped junk??? (less stress) (more sugar) My DH is big on those mini-angel food spongey white things they sell in the strawberry section, but I'm not. HOWEVER, they would be very low stress. I like the old-fashioned high-fat buttery shortcake things, but I'll have to make them, instead of putting noids in paper cups. Please, if the (as yet un-)assembled throng could inform me ASAP.
xxxx, Carrie
If you make the high fat buttery shortcakes just ship them to me. No whipped cream through the mail though. I always have a spare quart (yes, I do) just in case we get snow, or rain or too much sun..........
Have a good time!
I prefer the biscuits to store bought shells. My local store has both. These would be for all of you, I've had enough shortcakes for a while, lol.
I already have my season quota in the freezer, what ever else I pick is for daily use or give-away.
If the shortcake stand is a go, I can crush a few quarts in advance.
Andy P
Andy, I am already drooling
Which local store, Andy? I like the biscuits, I'll bring whipped cream, would you crush, Andy, please?
x, C
Martha, you have made me a very happy woman - I LOVE cheesecake - but can't make it 'cause I am the only one in the family that likes it. (I'd eat the whole thing myself . . . ). Andy - thanks in advance for the strawberries :-)
I am so looking forward to tomorrow. :-)
Did someone say CHEESECAKE???? What is everyone else eating?!
YUMMMMM Cheesecake.
Carrie, Johnny's Foodmaster in Whitman. 6 biscuits ~ $3, but they are good.
I looked for paper bowls for the shortcakes today, no luck.
My cardiologist isn't going to be happy with me this weekend, lol.
Andy P
yes.....i vote yes for the strawberry shortcake. with the biscuits, no spongy things for me. whip cream please. that's my vote.
i have some bowls i can bring, the rest can go on plates. i have plenty of plastic ware to bring. no problems..................
I think I may have some styrofoam bowls . . .
But... freshly whipped cream? Or Hood whipped cream in a can?
Yeah what is it with those sponge things? That's my DH's idea of strawberry shortcake, a sponge, canned whipped cream, and a strawberry on top. I had an attendant once (Denise; you met her, Debi) who had absolutely no idea that 'whip cream' was actually cream that had been whipped. We were whipping cream one night and she was flabbergasted. Then I told her if I whipped too long it would turn into butter - I'm not sure she believed me!

Kassia and all, I'm sad to say that I'm sick and won't be making it tomorrow. I am so disappointed! I was going to drive with Yankee Cat, so I feel bad to mess her up too. If anyone is coming from near Bridgeport, they might want to send her a dmail.
Dave47
Oh too bad Dave - feel better. I think the real reason is that you couldn't go without Al and me!
Ahem!
And Pirl!!! Sorry, I was just thinking three stooges.
