Any chance we could start earlier and end earlier? Actually, six hours would be a lot for me anyway. I just don't want to miss anything exciting! Just let me know when the good parts are gonna be....

I probably can't make it any earlier than 1pm...

every one is fortunate if they are not addicted to smoking but I am, am certain I can find a spot some where so as not to annoying to anyone, like my car, :-))

All of a sudden I feel very far away (sob!). Well, maybe I'll get to come another time. Now don't you guys embarass me in front of THE Dave. Or if you do, at least take a picture of it LOL.

It always surprises me how many smokers there are out there. It seems like at each roundup I attend, easily a fourth of the people present are smokers. Being on the outskirts of the seating area, rather than lighting up in the middle of the action, seems courteous.

I surely hope those 25% don't expose their plants to second-hand smoke!

I will never smoke in front of anyone even in my own home I will go out of doors or not smoke at all if I have company unless they are smokers too.

That's very courteous, Maria. I've known far too many smokers who are not.

Hello and thank you for hosting the RU. I would love to attend and will bring something to eat..not sure yet..but something. I also have plants...mostly the Siberian Iris I have been peddling since Spring.

I don't smoke but I am ok with having those that do out side. it is a very hard thing to quit and people who smoke should not be excluded

Laura, thank you I will sit with you and anyone without prejudicial attitudes I am a firm believer that it is true no one should be excluded, all gardeners are just the best people to know and meet, so very much looking forward to this, I never get out too often, sort live like a hermit , if it were not for DG I really would be one.

I know isn't the internet wonderful ?!? you can connect with people who have similar interests . I think gardeners are salt of the earth kind of people and are pretty easy to get along with for the most part .

Yes, Laurie, we are, :-)) So far I hve met 4 of them in person, not at any RU since I never have been to one, all are just great people from PA, CA, MA and WA. Now I am looking forward to meet more

Your round-up sounds like it's gonna be a blast, and I'm going to try and come if I can get someone to cover me at work for that day. I just heard of this today. I went to a round-up last year in Springfield and had such a good time, and met so many wonderful people, and got some great plants to add to my ever-expanding gardens. I want to do it again! I'm going to try really hard tomorrow to get someone to cover my shift. I've asked my sister, who works with me, but she may not be able to do it. She will find out tomorrow. Ohhhhh, I hope I can go. If I do I will be bringing a friend and my father (he can't be left home alone). We will bring chairs for ourselves. My friend can bring sodas, and I will think of something to bring. Maybe coffee from Dunkin' Donuts, that Cup O' Joe in the box that they have that comes with the cups, sweetener, stirring stix, etc.

Oh, I would love to do a round-up at my place here in Halifax (near Plymouth) on July 22. I love showing off my gardens. I have over 800 varieties of daylilies, and that is their peak time. I'm also on a 2 week vacation during that time, so I will have a week before that day to get my gardens into some semblance of order. If anyone is game, just give a holler. I will go ahead and post a thread on it.

about smokers: I don't discriminate even if nobody in my family smokes.... I hope we have great weather so we can all be outside... I LIVE outside basically... why stay inside in great weather???? I will have my messy garage in case it rains or whatever....

I so look foward to all of this.... my garden is all a big experiment... you guys will see... I have tons of seeds growing... they will probably be ok next year... but I am having fun... experimenting with some plants and some parts of the yard... so I will need a lot of advice!!!!

Karen, you don't live to far from Rehoboth either but I will be away and am sad to think what I will miss not able to see you, the others and most of all your great sounding gardens

Kassia, no matter that your garden is new or your garage is a mess, it is your hospitality that is simply the best

Maria, I may be i=on your neck of the woods tomorrow... I am going to try to find Uncle Ed's Back Porch(?) it's an ice cream place on rt 44... I went there once... it's one of the best home made ice cream... have you been there???

Because I can't be there.....I am mailing a box of plants to Kassia's next week. She will have to decided how to give them out.....maybe everyone can pick a number, or play a game......whatever is easiest for her. There are a few different daylilies, some Iris's, Clustered bellflower, asiatic lilies, sedum, and what ever else I can scounge up! I hope you all enjoy yourselfs and when your plant blooms you'll think of me!!

I am dying to show off all the nice gifts I got from you, Andy, Yankee, Alice, Laura, Steph and so many others... so many gifts.... so many blessings.... that's makes my garden a true Friendship Garden... I think I am the most blessed person... I get to meet wonderful people and make new friends, I start a garden, I get to show off my hard work (which is not completed) and I get to party with all of you!!!!!! and get to see some of you guys!!!!!!!!!!!! wow... what more can I get??? Oh I love it!!!!

anyway, I called Mike Lowe today - he owns Lowe's roses in Nashua NH - this coming Sunday is the open house - 9-5 .... more than 4000 roses... can you guys imagine how many pic I am going to take???? It was funny when I called and asked if I could visit ... he told me sure... as long as if I see a weed I can pull it out for him!!!!
I didn't know that but Mike Lowe is a rose hybridizer... his roses are sold at Ashdow Roses...
