Gardener's Diary is back on HGTV

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

Unfortunately they removed Simply Quilts, but at 8AM EST, A Gardener's Diary is being aired again, Monday thru Friday.
It's a great way to start the day and enjoy that first cup of coffee.

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Oh, yes, I begin my day every day with that one. Actually, I wake
up about six in the morning, which means I sort of half-baked watch
Creative Juice, then Gardener's Diary comes on.

:-)

Tulsa, OK(Zone 7a)

never heard of it.. i miss rebeccas show guess been over 2 yrs ago.. i think thats her name her and that funny guy did make overs?/

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Oh, yes, Rebecca's Garden. I sure miss that show. :-(

Hope, in Hulbert, Gardener's Diary comes on at 6:30 in the
morning on channel 229.

:-)

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Is Gardener's Diary on HGTV? I tried to look it up, but HGTV's website isn't loading for me. I loved that show! I was trying to find out if it was on HGTV, and what time it aired Mountain Time.

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Hi Joan,

Yes, it is on HGTV. If you have cable / satellite, etc. there should be
a search option on your satellite remote. Ours is Direct TV. For that
particular company, you just push Menu, Search, Channel, enter HGTV,
then scroll over to the right until you find it.

It is actually called A Gardener's Diary, so when searching, you may
have to enter the 'A' to find it in the menu.

WELL GUESS WHAT????

In doing the same thing mentioned above to help Joan, I just discovered
ours has changed too. "Ground Breakers' is on in the Gardener's Diary slot for
Monday, then on at seven instead of Debbie Travis' Painted House on Tuesday.

Okay, DirectTV, what gives?

Crossville, TN(Zone 6b)

Joan, it should come on 6 am. I am in Central time and I watch it at 7AM. I have Dish.
Linda

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Thanks! 6 AM huh? I'm gonna have to re-think how bad I wanna watch that. LOL

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

Joan they are in Central time zone, that would be 8AM for us. I hope they haven't pulled it yet. They are awfully fickle at HGTV.
Also if it's to early, we can always tape it.

According to my sunday paper it will be on every weekday morning at 8AM.
Joan I think you are probably up by then.

Quoting:

LOL Yep, I am. Sidney, you must be on Eastern Time, so if it's 8 your time, it would be 6 my time. At that time on weekdays I'm trying to get ready for work. If it is going to be on every day though, I could set my VCR and tape it to watch in the evening. :)

Me too...I also watch..P. Allen Smith, Victory Garden, and a couple of others on Create TV
drooling and wishing that my yard looked like some of them. But I'm not able so I'm happy with potted plants I have.

South/Central, FL(Zone 9a)

My HGTV schedule is...

Mon. 8:00 Ground Breakers
Tues 8:00 Gardening by the Yard
Wed. 8:00 Gardeners Diary
Thurs 8:00 City Gardener
Fri 8:00 Outer Spaces
Sat 9:30 Landscapers Smart
10:00 Landscapers Challenge
12:00 Gardening by the Yard

Sun 7:30 Ground Breakers
8:00 Gardening by the Yard
8:30 Landscapers Smart
9:00 Landscapers Challenge
9:30 Landscapers Challenge

I wish there were more,.......and at different times.

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

Well Lucy I hope your's is wrong, mine didn't say that and it's been on weekday morn. since I returned 2 weeks ago.
Joan I'm sorry I read ND as MD. and so I thought you were in Maryland, LOL.
I'll try to pay more attention and wear glasses in the future.
I would tape it and watch it on the weekend or in the evening if it were me.
My guide also has garden shows on HGTV everyday at 12 noon except monday.
Here's hoping,
;)

South/Central, FL(Zone 9a)

Sugarweed......I got those off the HGTV websight. They may not be right for our area. If I get up in time, in the mornings... I'll check. : )

Selma, AL(Zone 8a)

Well, I turned on HGTV for the Gardener's Diary and got Ground Breaking...about the time you got it figured out...they change it.

Crossville, TN(Zone 6b)

Don't they usually change the schedule in Jan, June and Sept. I was so disappointed to see ground Breaker but yet the DISH program guide said Gardener's Diary.
I will write to them and ask for them to bring it back along with Gardener's journal. i have done it 3 times since they have taken them off.
Linda

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

Yes I was POed too. I too am going to write to them I just hate their new format. I think they are trying to drive all us Baby Boomers away.
.)

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

I love HGTV, but lately it seems all of the shows are
selling houses, organizing and people who have limited
knowledge of gardening getting a major backyard makeover.
Shows to help you impress people. I'm not interested in
impressing others, I just want to garden.

More shows for the little common folks who garden on
a realistic budget, please!

AND if I can a little red cent, I did NOT like the new Groundbeakers format that aired this past weekend. It was NOT cute NOR entertaining how the new host acted as if he was doing Gardening Sesame Street TV!! Of course just my little red cent! ;0)

Crossville, TN(Zone 6b)

http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/programdaily/0,1783,HGTV_3658_6-6-2007_CST,00.html It looks like she is only on Wednesday.

Linda

Selma, AL(Zone 8a)

I used to watch Gardening By the Yard, but they have moved it so many times, I can't find it. Might run across it by accident sometimes
CreateTV has Cultivating Life, and Smart Gardening also in their schedule. I watch CreateTV more than HGTV lately.

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Well now get this...this morning, the screen showed Gardener's Diary,
but Gardening by the Yard was on.

Yesterday hubby was watching a race, but the title said something
else. I think someone at the cable place needs a break, a bathroom
run and an eye exam. LOL

Yes I think you're right.... I saw Pual James this am as well, but I was wanting to see A Gardener's Diary! ;0).

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Oh my gosh, I just noticed mention of Create TV...do tell!
We must not have that here, but I'll sure look.

:-)

Crossville, TN(Zone 6b)

it is not just on cable as DISH had GD but aired GBTY too. Sounds like a last minute change at HGTV.
Linda

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

I wrote them and Quoted WUVIE

Seattle Burbs, WA(Zone 8b)

I hope there are new episodes of A Gardener's Diary. I really like the host, her name is Erika....? Can't remember the last name. That show really inspires me to try new things in our garden. I have seen most of the old ones, probably twice! I've saved a few special ones, like the Hosta guy and another I really liked was the daylily hybridizer. Both special interests of mine.

Another great show on HGTV was Gardener's Journal. I wish they would produce more shows like these two.

Powder Springs, GA(Zone 7b)

The hostess is Erica Glasener. Here is her web site:

http://www.ericaglasener.com/

Selma, AL(Zone 8a)

CreateTV is a child of PBS

Crossville, TN(Zone 6b)

Thanks for the Glasener URL.
I wanted to write her and ask her to bring back the glossary with pictures that they feature at the end of the 2007 shows. Or, maybe they can write the name over the plants as they tour the gardens. That would be perfect as they only give you 5 names at the end of the show.
Linda

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

She's going to film in Ireland, well I doubt if that will give me many new inspirations I have most of her shows on tape anyhow.
;)

Seattle Burbs, WA(Zone 8b)

Ah! Yes, that's her name, thanks hcmcdole. Well the Tivo is set and I've got several episodes waiting for me. It is still inspiring to watch the old ones. Problem is trying to find time to watch in the hustle and bustle of gardening here at home. I hit the bed and it's goodnight charley. The TV can run for hours and I won't hear it. ;-)

Thanks sugarweed on the update. Hopefully we can see some of the Ireland episodes soon.

Central FL, FL(Zone 9b)

I'm another one who's disappointed that Gardener's Diary has now been relegated to only once a week. It's my favorite gardening show and the one that inspired me to start my garden. I notice that there's a very long list of past shows, and I could watch reruns forever and never get tired of it. I'd been setting my DVR to record it at 8:00 every morning.

I think HGTV is going downhill. They keep showing reruns of the better shows such as Homes Across America, but I don't know if there will be any new ones. I think the designer on Divine Design does a good job, so I hope she hasn't been cancelled. (I'd like it better if they left the schtick out, though.) However, they'll probably renew Rooms by Goons forever and ever ad nauseum. Excuse me if I've offended anyone with my new title of that show, but those two make me gag; I can only stand so much "cuteness" and so much dated design, so I don't watch that show. To each his own.

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

I've had it with that network. I just sent them a scathing email asking them to get their home & garden s____ together. I don't recommend anybody being as mean as I was. It will probably go in the trash, but I feel better! I've been wanting to do that for a while, ahhhhh

My Tivo thingy said it was recently rescheduled to once weekly on wednesdays.

bivbiv,
Please go to that second hgtv web addy above and post just what you said here.
I think if enough of us write they listen.
Sidney

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

When I wrote I quoted WUVIE and added that I had several conversasions with gardners at nurseries too.
;)

Seattle Burbs, WA(Zone 8b)

bivbiv - you will not regret recording the past broadcasts of A Gardeners Diary. It truly shows passionate gardening in many areas around our states.

Regarding the topic of HGTV:

At the risk of even skirting the issue, thank-you for pointing out that the HOSTS of Room by Zoom is way too false. The viewer can detect false/fake/contrived hosting, and these are probably some of the worst I've ever seen. When they began I watched with gusto, meaning every single episode. But it was soon apparent, even these two "lovebirds" were at war for camera time.

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

When RBR comes on, I cannot change the channel fast enough.
There is something about her voice that just sounds like nails on a
chalkboard. As soon as the show previous ends, I race to change
the channel. Ugh!

Again this morning I found the programs mixed up. This time, it
was "The City Gardener". Now while I love a foreign accent, the guy
spoke so fast with such an accent that I had to listen closely to hear
what he said. I suppose it could be that I didn't have the television up
very loud, but geez.

HGTV, please. Don't make me disconnect you.

:-(

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

Wuvie, the RBR people sound "fake" happy and the woman's laugh is the WORST. I forgive the City Gardener guy because he's good looking but, like you, I don't understand one word he says.

edited to add: I like Divine Design a lot because of all her helpers, they are nice to look at. I notice though she doesn't call one of them the "hunky" guy anymore. She must have gotten some flak for the sexist remark. She now calls him by his name, whatever that is.
