Aloha, ginger's computer has a virus and it is getting fixed right now, but I myself am still curious about that dark-leaved beauty-lol :)

I wonder if there is any of the old participants still out there ?
I will post one of my latest Pictures to see if there is.

Hi Tropicbreeze,

I was told to repost that Picture here for an ID.
It was posted on the regular ID Forum and did not get one reply in 2 weeks.
Then ‘Plant File Admin' told me to post it here ;-)

Where is noonamah ?

noonamah, Australia

G'day Ginger, it's just south of Darwin.

Have you tried the orchid forum here?

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Hey Ginger!! Love the orchid!!

Santiago, Panama

I actually had to dig these up and move them as they were becoming invasive. Everywhere I've planted heliconias pups keep popping up!

They look like the rostrata. Heliconias are very invasive. A lot of people here recommend leaving them in pots.

zones 10 to 11, United States

yup Tropibreeze, H. Rostrata ...all those pendant heliconias tend to be too big, but there are some erect ones that are quite small and would fit inside a house, and still pretty... there is one red caribea I have that only gets to 4 feet on the floor, 2 in pots, and flowers. I just bought a couple more for my garden. Another erect caribea (huge one though, the plants gets to like 18 feet) have a pic, but it doesn't do justice to the flower (3 feet tall. 1 feet couple inches wide :O ) there's another small one I know but it's veeery rare and don't know the name (will post a pic as well) stays at 3 feet on the floor and its very symmetrical shaped... please, if someone knows the name let me know.
also bought some gingers, starting to like them more as I think they are more manageable than the Heliconnias

....yup Stump, it's hard work to take them out. Once they are established, those rhizomes just keep coming out. Only way is to dig at least 2 feet into the ground, and be lucky. But I think the Hedichiums are even worst, though I also got me a brand new one of those :( can imagine myself next year trying to move it from the site because something or other (too much light, too much shade...water,,,etc, etc :() Ohhh, have 100s if not 1000s of hedychium coronarium seeds available atm Ginger743... flowers are way smaller than any heliconia and most gingers, but the fragrant smell is something spectacular indeed. And they do flower in a pot and stay at 3 feet in 1 as well.
Have a good 1 gang!

Hi Plancton.

Love the second one of your pictures.
I would very much like some of your 1000's of seed.
But alas Australia has a total 100% ban on seed and plant material from USA.
Probably something to do with the infamous Cane Toad. (Bufo marinus)
So I will keep an eye open in my regular Nursery. ^_^
