Potluck at Weegy's July 14, 2007!

Temecula, CA(Zone 8b)

Great pics Kathleen!!

It always seems that I'm gesticulating when a pic has me in it....lol. I guess I should get some personal handcuffs.

It was great seeing everyone who came and Weegy, your gardens, pond, and home are truly a reflection of your welcoming personalities. It was great meeting Tony and those gas pumps are really a sight to behold.

George, you and Sue should come out to the ranch to meet your namesake.

best to all and thanks for the fellowship!
don and Pam.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Marie's spirit, you were in the shade the whole time, we didn't feel the need to remind you about the sunscreen. I did truly miss Marie, the real Marie, not her spirit.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Kathleen, great pictures, too bad I was in them!
It was such a great day, I have to thank you all for all the goodies and food you brought.
It was such a pleasure sharing the day with all of you, it was my first time meeting Michelle and Paul, what a wonderful couple.
I'm so glad that Tony got to meet you all, now he knows who I'm talking about when I'm bragging about my DG friends, he can put a face to a name now.
Thank you all for coming, you made my Saturday.
Don, we'll see you soon with a delivery, thank you.
Donna, a special thanks to you for St. Anthony...he looks really good in the picture above.
Again, thank you all.

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10b)

Weegy and Tony, Thanks so much for a wonderful day!!!

It was such a beautiful setting (I want misters now!!!!) and everyone was just as sweet and gracious as only DGers can be.

Always fun to see those who I already had met and meet those who I had not yet.

Oh, and the lasagna ROCKED!!!

What a refreshing visit, ya'll. After being not participating in DG Real Life activities for so long because that other schtuff got in the way, I have to say that I am rejuvenated. Kind people, good conversation, delicious food and obsessive compulsive plant disorders. Who could ask for more???

Who is going to break it to Jo that not only was my pie not lumpy but Paul's pie (I taught him! I swear!!) was as smooth as silk and ALL chocolate goodness!?!?!?

Thanks Spin for the seeds and Weegey- I will get my garden donations when I pick up the rinds of that fruit! ;)

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Would you all believe it if I told you I just woke up? All that fresh air and heat made me a tired little puppy. Yup, made it home by 7:30, made a cup of coffee and talked to Jerry for a short bit, then fell asleep on the couch by 8:15. Now I'm awake, so what do I do...go on the computer to make me sleepy again. lol

What a fantastic day we had. The DG friends and food was excellent. It was really nice being able to really get to talk with everyone today. It was also great to see Michele (daisyavenue) again, it's been quite a few years. BTW Michele, I really like Paul, thanks for dragging him along. lol

Weegy, thank you sweetie for a lovely time. You and Tony are great hosts and I can see why you spend so much time outside.

Kanita, so sorry you couldn't make it...you were missed. :-)
Jasperdale, where were you? Hope all is ok. I have your camera, book and an ice chest full of beer here at my house....come and get it when you can.

What a fabulous day!!!!!
Donna

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Michele, that pie was not lumpy at all....only good and chocolaty!! yum yum

Valinda, CA(Zone 10a)

Spin, when do the seeds get planted? Can I try a few now and more in the spring?

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

You are all the best! Let's do it again real soon. Sorry about those darned flies.
It really was a memorable day. I'm so glad all who attended had a great time, why does time fly when you're doing something you love??!!?!?
Have a great Sunday all, I'm going to the garden to water and all the fun stuff.

Crossville, TN

OK......Pam....I hope you enjoyed MY chocolates as much as I would have!! and Michelle....Lumpy or not....I'd have enjoyed your pie...even if it was Paul's. Nothing like a good man that is trainable!!

Looking at the pictures above...it's like looking at family photo's....and I love each of you. Sorry to have missed this one!! Jo

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

We missed you, too, Jo. Were your ears burning? We decided Michelle's pie should be named Michelle's Lumpy Chocolate Pie just so it won't be "lumped in" with all the other, substandard, chocolate pies. It was outstanding. Sorry Amy couldn't make it, too - she would have had fun and she was missed.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Awwwww, Jo, we did miss you. Kathleen brought chocolate covered biscotti in your honor. The pie was yummy, everything was.
Mike had a death in the family, the funeral was yesterday. Thought you'd all like to know. I hope he doesn't mind me posting that and I will let him post details.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Yes she was, I hope her ant problem is under control now. (((((((AMY & JO))))))
A very special hug to Mike. ((((((((((((((((((MIKE)))))))))))))))))))

Temecula, CA(Zone 8b)

Pam enjoyed the chocolate Jo....lol. And she ate enough for you as well I'm sure.

Mike, both of us extend our deepest sympathies to you and hope you are well.

Crossville, TN

My condolences to Mike also.

Ya'll are the nicest people!! Next time I'll try to make it....if it doesn't fall the first half of Sept....

HEY MARIE.....Let's make it happen...and go together....Amy will have room for us! Jo

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

I had so much fun, though I was ready to crash off the road at 10:00 though but I was 2 miles from home. The food was great and the company better, the conversation was all over and real interesting.

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Whoa, you guys kept it going for a while, eh? I made it home by 8, but I was up at 5 this morning unable to sleep. As soon as it was light I was out watering. Wait 'til you see what I came home to! Will post pictures later.

Mike, sorry for your family's loss - we missed your company, too.

Kathleen

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Uh oh, Kathleen, what happened?!?!?! A waterfall?!??!?!
Dawn, glad you made it before you fell asleep. Yikes girl.
Jo, we'll have another get together soon.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

I managed to get 3 photos before Pam broke not one but both my cameras!!!! (jk Pam)
Wish I would have gotten more, I guess you have to charge batteries??!?!?

Pam sure did a good job of getting rid of the "chocolate evidence".....LOL Good pictures. Jo

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

That's why she's got that smirk on her face!

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

I see you guys had someone there with a deep understanding of the problem we all have to deal with daily.......I love it, Michelle..."obsessive compulsive plant disorders"...truer words were never said! Sounds like you guys had a great time...wish I'd been there...all I can think about now is chocolate pie.
Mike, I also am very sorry to hear of your loss.
Sherry

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Sherry, we missed you! Great pictures of Pam, Weegy. I found out our camera had lost its settings, which explains some of the poor quality I got. Oh well, the operator should have noticed! So I fixed it and here is part of my surprise.

The waterfall. I know it's not falling very far, but it's what we wanted.

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Hmmmm. That's nice,K. Gives me all sorts of ideas...I'll have to think about that, where I could place a creek.

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

The pond from the bottom. We have eight waterlilies blooming now, and one lotus. The bog and marginals are starting to spread and grow. Next year things should really fill in.

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

The pond and stream from the top. We've covered the filter setup with burlap for now, until we find a good way to disguise it. We've run out of big rocks, so we'll have to make do. In the fall, we'll plant close to the stream to soften the edges. The way that toyon is growing, it will help hide the filter, too. Weege, see why I was happy to take those hyacinths off your hands? lol.

OK last one. The cream on top was this bloom on our Chilopsis linearis. We've been waiting for this for a year. Isn't she a beaut? Thanks to a certain generous DGer, we have several of these in the garden and we just love them.

Ooops, I lied. Weegy, I'm pretty sure this is the same plant you have that Don was talking about - don't remember the name. We saw this in Costa Rica. It's weird, but I can't call it ugly - there's something intriguing about it. Those flies are just pollinating away. :-)

OK, that's the last one.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

sorry for your loss too Mike, you were missed. I needed someone to give crap too again.

Sherry I was wondering what in the world happened to you, I hadn`t seen a post in ages. Hope your doing nursury stuff and it is going well, everything.

Great pictures.

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

K, is that a stapelia? The DH would like to do some kind of pond also, but I don't know where we could squeeze it in. Oh well, change is good.
Dawn, I try to get outside to work by 6, but the mornings are so lovely and quiet that I usually don't make it til 7-7:30 and work on stuff til 11-12 when it gets too hot, so I go back out at 6-7 in the evening to get more done. Between the heat and the flies it's hard to like gardening this time of year. I've discovered 'naps'.......I guess I don't have much good to say when it gets hot...I whine.....

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Oh that is pretty much my MO, though not a nap usually but a long down time after i recoup from the afternoon heat and morning yard work...I enjoy it in the evening but the neighbors dog`s start barking and ruin it sometimes when I`m out working late. Hope it`s going good though.

By the way Paul and Michelle my dh said the car that was at the fairgrounds was the Roush 427 not the Shelby GT, like I said, I had forgotten. He rreally wants the new Shelby Cobra. I will kill him if he buys it though, right now. He thinks he`s buying the new challenger when it comes out too but he isn`t Jay Lenno as he thinks he is. When my yard looks like Don`s or Loiuses, he can buy more cars.

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Weegy,

Yes, I think that's what it is. The plant of yours we were looking at that had the little flower. I wanted you to see a proper picture with the flies crawling in and out! lol We were in a special garden there that had loads of beautiful orchids and tropicals, then saw this. A bit of a shock, it was. :-)

Kathleen

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Ewwwww, Kathleen, that's awful! I have never seen my stapelia with flies all over it, well I always never see it bloom because of where it is. The poor thing gets overlooked, but you can bet I'll be checking it everyday for flies. Your pond is progressing very nicely, what a joy to come home to, huh?!?!!? We got all of our rocks for our pond and yard in Fontana, some in Lytle Creek, illegal I hear. There's still lots of places out here where you can pick up rocks. Do you need more hyacinth?!?!?!?! You know where they're multiplying quite nicely!
I smile every time I think of yesterday, just a nice, nice time. I really enjoyed all of you and the whole day.
Thanks again everyone.

Temecula, CA(Zone 8b)

Yep that's a Stapelia.......and holy smokes!, what a specimen. Nice pics kaperc!!!! Looks very much like S. gigantea.

Citra, FL(Zone 9a)

:-) It sounds like you all had a great time! I worked in Cucamonga once upon a time (sordid story....)
Brings back memories; Gypsy, I hope you'll be at the Northern RU...probably too far for others, eh? Seems quite exciting to meet people in person.....and to go to a party with folks of similar interests.

I'm thinking about that German Apple cake...mmmm..... (sorry to crash your party)

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Laura, it would be such a long way for you to come down here for a RU at Don and Pam's, but I wish you could.....it's the Roundup to beat all Roundups....I seem to think they've already mentioned doing next year again...I'm sure if I'm wrong you'll hear Don yelling, "NO,NO,NO". LOL.

Temecula, CA

Just wanted to make sure that Jo knows that I have eaten the chocolate in HER honor! (Mmm Good..and yes, the smirk comes with it). Sorry about the cameras, Weegy. Thanks so much, oh peerless hostess--and also to Tony, for the fabulous time. Amy, we missed you- and hope that the ants are on their last legs, or quite, quite dead. Sorry that there were so many Pam photos, guys.
Big hug to everyone,
Pam

Temecula, CA
