Wow!! I think I need to get some more of these!

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Chris they are nice, and they are easy to grown from seed too.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Love the double bloom.! My first time seeing a double bloom on a Rose Of Sharon.. Very sweet! I've clicked to enlare that picture so many times, my computer is starting to slow down. Reminds me of soft pink tissue paper blooms we use to make for parade floats when I was a kid.

Powder Springs, GA(Zone 7b)

I got that at a Wal-Mart in TN years ago as a red Rose of Sharon. Well, it isn't red but the double pink endeared itself. So I took some cuttings when I moved and they have come along despite being weed whacked and dog chewed. This one does not produce a lot of seed if any.

Here is Strawberry Kitten's tail / firetails / foxtails (acalypha repens). I left it out this winter and took a small piece inside for insurance. Turns out this is hardy and blooming quite nice this morning.

That is so sweet! I just love those red tails!!! I need to get me some of that for my window boxes..it would be cute wagging those tails! LOL

Evans, GA(Zone 7b)

Cute name for a plant, hcmcdole, and lovely photo. Felt I could reach out and stroke those tails!

Evans, GA(Zone 7b)

Yay! My white asiatic lily has bloomed. Edited to add the black bits you see are from thistle seed as it is below the feeder.

Nice hibiscus and Oriental lily, ArtGal. I wish I had a big bed of lilies.

My 'Fireball' hibiscus bloomed today. The blooms are so large that it pulls the limbs over.

hcmcdole, LOL, I had a wonderful conversation with DH tonight. There is a patch of ground on the left side of our house that just looks to me like a wonderful place for a daylily and/or lily bed. I approached him as he was standing out on the porch admiring the Hardy pink Hibiscus, a couple of asiatics and all my callas in pots, and said" let me ask you what you think about this........ " Well, he thought it was a great idea to turn that entire area (about 20' x 12' ) into a lily garden. Woo hoo! I have my work cut out for me this fall. Got to find some really good deals on bulbs. So glad he thinks shrubs are boring.

Roopville, GA(Zone 7b)

janet if you ever have duke of durham to trade in future please let me know i can trade you for another named daylily : ) it is so pretty...and i am not the biggest fan of orange but thats a keeper!

I really like the yellows, oranges and golds because they stand out like the reds...but his one is just so cool looking..like having a red/orange all in one..LOL I will keep you in mind, and when I see what I have in the fall, if I have an extra fan I will be happy to share it with you.

guardians,

Check out J&P this fall for lilies. If you don't mind a grab bag. They used to offer (and maybe still do) 50 Oriental lilies for $30 and 100 Asiatic lilies for the same price.

Kelly,

I like those lilies. Oriental have the best smell, don't they?

Here is one of mine. Mine are still too young to have many blooms though.

i think your pink and yellow one is tom pouce

hcmcdole,
Wow, that's a great deal on lilies! I really don't care what they are as long as I have a lot of them. DH loves them in cut flower arrangements. Thanks for the info!

Powder Springs, GA(Zone 7b)

Kelly,

I think you are right about the ID on that lily. I'm sure I kept the tag somewhere. I think I got those at Lowe's this spring.

guardians,

Apparently J&P has gone up in their prices like everyone else. Well the price is the same but the bulb count is down. It is now 30 bulbs for $30 but for $1 a bulb, it's still pretty good. They may have a special in their fall catalog though.

I'm wondering where my stargazers went this year? Transplanted them from pots and can't remember where ... and they're not blooming (or maybe even growing)!

Lizella, GA(Zone 8a)

Here is Barbaresco.. We got more rain today and it beat these pretty badly.., but no complaints here!!!
