Cordeledawg...i have loved daylilies all of my life. my mother had lots of different ones when i was growing up and i got one of each when i left home. unfortunately in a winter move about 6 yrs. ago i lost all of them but one. which is my cleo. cleo is my favorite one now i guess since it was at my home when i was a small child. we moved to this house 2 1/2 years ago and i started all over. most of mine have been given to me or i got in trades. i have most always been a stay at home mom and haven't had the money to buy any. i have bought a few this year as my youngest is now in school and i am able to work. okay so due to my story i will have to post cleo for you : ) sorry about the long drawn out story lol.

I have noticed in one of my beds that I only have one kind of daylily that a new one arrived. I think it is caused from being fertilized with pollen from another daylily and then when the seed falls and comes up it is different. I had this to happen last year.
This is a picture from last year. This is a large bed of the same kind of daylily but toward the end of the year it had some coming up a lot smaller than these and different color also.
I call these Poppy Sue because she sent these to me probably in 2002 right after I joined Dave's. She sent 5 and I now have hundreds and gave almost that many away.

Jim those are beauties! PoppySue is a sweetheart!

I love that daylily! I got it from someone, too, and do not have a name tag. It just blooms and blooms! Glad to know it increases, I'll end up putting them down the left side of my driveway this fall if I can only find out the name!!

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Okay, Jim find Poppy Sue so we can "name that daylily" LOL

Evans, GA(Zone 7b)

Only another gardener will appreciate how those pics fill me with lust! (for the plants, of course!) White daylilies are so unusual, Janet. While on the daylily tour I saw a beautiful creamy one that I just had to have - until I saw the price tag of $150!

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Thank you I hadn't realized white was so NOT normal until recently...LOL I don't even know her name...lol It is a sweet flower though and has multiplied well, and has nice budding qualities too.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Janet, I think you have struck gold with your white. From what I have read in all the daylily hybridizers inmformation, there's not a true white daylily. Most say something to the effect, "our nearest white we sell..." I just believe you've got a true white that breeders would give their eye teeth for.

Most say something to the effect, "our nearest white we sell..." Does yours have a faint tinge of pink or yellow? I just believe you've got a true white that dl hybridizers would give their eye teeth for. Hang on to it, girl, you just might be able to "sire" it out like breeding purebred dogs. LOL

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

That is interesting Deb, I remember when I found it I bought three of them and it is just a reallly sweet white flower with a yellow throat. I don't see any pink or yellow in the petals myself, here is another close up picture of it. I will show you my Pandora's Box up close too, it is a creamy color..lol

Yes I do love it...it is just so cheerful! Blooms well too!

My "Saucer Full of Secrets" was full of ants! Perhaps that's what caused the holes in that one petal. This is the FFO on this one - planted last fall.

Crimson Pirate - these did well after that nice rain we had a month or so ago. Even though I water once or twice a week, things are very sad looking.

I've posted these purtys before, but this morning I caught 2 bees as I snapped the photo!

"Bold Wonder" - Neither very bold or wonderful - I'm sure the drought is to blame for this less than stellar performance.

Any day now, my first dahlia will open. I think it is Lavender Perfection, but I could be wrong. Dummy me, the sharpie I used was not sun-proof and the name faded away on my marker. Guess I'll just have to wait til these two plants bloom to figure it out.

Love those hibiscus pictures. Bumblebees and Japanese beetles do too.

Here are some from this morning.
