Both of those hibiscus are host plants for the Hairstreak and the Painted Lady butterflies! YEA!!! Keep growing both of those!

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Wow, I did not know that! LOL

Peachtree City, GA(Zone 7b)

That is such a perfect bloom, I love it.

Janet, my pink is hardy. I don't have much luck with growing things from seed. Actually, I did get really good germination, 5 out of 7 seeds I planted grew seedlings. Unfortunately, I am not as disciplined as I should be when it comes to tending seedlings, and I lost them all due to neglect. I know, go ahead and beat me with wet noodles. I got this one along with a bunch of others as cuttings from some guy on ebay. I knew we were moving, so I started them all in pots. They were all doing great, but my dog, then a puppy, thought they were very entertaining and uprooted them all on my front deck. I managed to salvage only this one, and when we moved it was the first thing I planted, right next to my front entrance. Of course, it was too late that year for it to do anything, and I thought I lost it over the winter. Imagine my delight last May when it sprang up seemingly overnight and blessed me with blooms til frost!

I gotta get some more of these things. They are just too pretty. If you want seeds let me know, it looks like I will have tons.

Would love some seeds...thanks!

Janet, I love your Heavenly Starfire!!!

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

One of the swamp mallow that I received in the coop that was suppose to be something else. The coop that got the coop taken away for a while. Pretty anyway just not the expensive one that I thought I was getting

Oh it is pretty, Jim! The SM's I've seen are round. Yours is star shaped! All of my winter sown swamp mallow died. I don't know what I did wrong. I'll just try again.

Jim, where do you grow yours and how tall do they get? I wanted mine to grow at the edge of a pond. I did get some regular hibiscus and texas stars to grow so I'm not completely hibiscus deprieved.

The white and maroon really stand out!

This hibiscus may be a Disco White? but I always think of it as my Las Vegas Elvis!

That's a goreous white. Love your name for it too. LOL It sure bloomed fast on a young plant didn't it?

Evans, GA(Zone 7b)

Did it, Cordeledawg? It is my first and only experience of a hibiscus, although I have another new one that will bloom soon. This one is three or four years old and this is the third year of blooming. It is small because it relies on what mother nature has to offer.

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Deb, don't wait till Winter, just sow those seeds in the ground, I have several yellows that come back that I just threw seeds on the ground where I scrtached it a little, pulled out some weeds and put them there...I do that sometimes in the early summer when the ground gets warm, while I am weeding I take some filler seeds or annuals sometimes and I pull weeds, and plant seeds LOL I figure if a weed can grow there so can a plant I would like! LOL Great pictures!

I agree Jim, I didn't realize Swamp Mallows had star shape leaves. Pretty Pink!

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Oops, Brenda, thanks! LOL I love that daylily too...it is so big, and this was the first year I had it. I guess the foilage will thicken up and it won't look so spindly next year with those 10 inch blooms..lol it was odd looking because it was so short!

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

I grow them in several locations. The only one that has received any water other than the little rain is the maroon. I have it in a bed that I have a soaker hose. They grow pretty tall. The hibiscus taller than the swamp mallow.
Artgal yours is similar to one I have that is loaded with buds but hasn't started to open yet. It is Bulls Eye. Here is a picture from last year. Blooms are about the size of a dinner plate.
