Sticks, I've found that the wishbone flower likes a bit of afternoon shade. You just can't trust those plant tags that say "full sun". They don't really mean full TEXAS sun. A lot of perfectly nice plants had to die for me to arrive at that conclusion! I love the torenias though..... hmmmm I don't have any of those this year. AhHa! A trip to the nursery is required this weekend, I see.

I've just put in some angelonia. This is a new one to me. Anybody have any tales to tell about it? Good, bad, or ugly?

Crosbyton, TX(Zone 7a)

i love angelonia but told myself i couldnt have it cause it was an annual....it is doing well for you?? i love the way it looks....

as for torenia...aka wishbone flower....we have a love hate relationship...this is probably the last year for me and them...i bought 2 color this year...

I have an ugly Angelonia tale~ my seeds never got planted this spring. : ( It is supposed to love this climate. Crowelli should be able to give us a good report. My weakness is seeds ~ lots of them with good intentions. No where near enough time...

And Hoyas! Mortswife, what flavors did you get?

Time for graduation from Kindergarden ~ you are stepping right out!

While you're in answering mode, pod... How do you mulch something that is 2" tall? I know I should mulch but gee whiz! It would bury most of my seedlings!

OHHHHHH NOOOOOOO! I have a monkey on my back and it looks like a daylily! I just received notice that previous customers of Oakes Daylilies get 20% off if you place an order by June 3rd. I've just spent, well, let's just say way too much, even after my discount! New beds, I need new beds. That new sprinkler system may have to be dug up and modified!

well i am sure MAD at someone....not only do i have multiple wins and bids in at ebay....but i just bought stuff at bluestone....WHO DO I BLAME!!! WHO WHO WHO...OMG; plus i have this new found merchandizing strategy for my yard so i will have to redo some stuff....OMG that also means more stuff.....hmmmmmpppphh

Murmur how do you keep the rabbits out with no barriers? It looks wide open to nature? so beautiful.

I have my brakes on now but I was a plant and gardenaholic until this place that i live in now. It has been too much work with little reward so not so fun.

I am paying for the first time in my life to have someone come in and put sprinklers and some turf so I can have fun again. My lasagna bed is not ready yet so that is my project. I am working on hard scape. Too much clay and vermin.grr and dh no help.

Dawn, I use "Liquid Fence Plus" - it helps deter both the rabbits and the deer. It's not perfect, they still nibble some, but it makes a big difference (it's environmentally friendly and even has ingredients that are good for the gardens). I know what you mean about 'dh no help.' Mine's not either - anything that gets done is accomplished strictly by moi.

If it is to be... it is up to me. Boy how familiar that is.

Reading this thread and enjoying every minute of it..sounds familiar to me...I'm camping out Friday night at the local church LOL for the big plant sale Sat. at 8am..

Liquid Fence Plus???? Is this readily available???

Crosbyton, TX(Zone 7a)

betty....i wish i was camping out with you...get lotsa plants !!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Last year I purchased about 100..didn't have flowers on property when I purchased it, so it made gardening more economical..all are very mature plants..and ranged between $1. - $2.00 the odd shrub might have been $3 - $5.00..can't wait...

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Betty purchased from where? I want cheap plants. gimme. Well honestly I guess as Dr. Phil says, You teach people how to treat you so I guess the fact that our beautifying the yard gets done by us with or without them, Why should they help?

Mine says he doesn`t really care and that is kind of true but when it is all beautiful he will say, Oh come see our beautiful yard we did. He will love and enjoy and use it, trust me. We should just hire out someone to do the crap we hate to do and have fun with the fun stuff and see if they don`t help more when it cost them.

hellnzone....you will have to go to canada....it is a sale at her church

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

oh lol I`m thinkin that aint gonna work for me. They do not let you bring plants into Ca. anyway because of Fruitfly infestation. buggers

Betty, yes, Liquid Fence Plus is available at most garden centers - I swear by it! Now if they would just come up with one that applies itself, that would be great.

My friend and I had a plant sale recently (all divisions or propagations from our own yards) and we sold them for $1 (4" pots) and $2 (gallon size). We had some in larger pots as well for a bit more (mostly $3, a few $5, and a couple $10), but the majority were the gallon size. We did really well and were able to share our passion without taking anyone to the cleaners! And we met some of the most enchanting people - just frosting on the cake.

so cool. I tried liquid fence but it needs reapplied if you water often enough. i like the crystal stuff a little better for here, but I can not find anything but liquid lately.
