Good afternoon, well almost evening....
Started my morning out with major 'to do' list...completed all except one and I'm not so sure I'll not be outside trying to complete it before bed...but, thought if I had a bath (was covered in yellow paint - head to toe) and put on jammies that I might be discouraged from going out and working some more..my back has had it..guys working on house next door said they wanted to hire me, said I work harder and more constant than most of their crew..should have, didn't get paid for what I did today, but looking outside, it's nice...
Best thing - all the things I accomplished today...mostly my white wicker set painted 'yellow' now cushions don't match but I'll get out my fabric paints and do some stroke work and voila - matching cusions..lol...
Worse thing - having to tell my mom that Greg/Mel's dog was put down a few weeks ago because his back wasn't the best and he snapped and bit Kyle...she STILL thinks there could have been an alternative..oh well...
What did I learn...that a day at work is more like a holiday than the days I spend at home....
Have a few photo's of my day...
Best thing/worse thing and what did you learn today?continue
Worst: Having to awaken for an early test at the hospital after only 3 hours' sleep.
Best: No gall stones, but some sludge that might be a cause of pain.
Learned: Doctors are fallible.
How wonderful Darius...what can they give you for the sludge????
are you often in paint???? If you don't feel better later this week perhaps you should try for 2nd opinion...as you say, Doctor's are falible...
Betty, that was just the info. from the tech, and they are not supposed to tell you anything. Some doc will read the films at the hospital and send a written report to my family doctor; it will likely get there Wednesday, their day off. The tech did say she really couldn't get good pics because that area is so very tender to the touch... and yes, it hurts. I may have to have a CT scan for more definition.
Worst: going to bed late and waking up early for a doctors appointment and I set the alarm wrong so I had to rush. Sound familiar Darius?
Best: Went to a Farm Bill panel discussion in DC tonight learned a lot and met interesting people who actually do want to preserve the family farm.
Learned: besides the farm bill info, I still need another floor lamp.
Araness try this rice, I promise you will love it or your money back! http://lundberg.elsstore.com/view/product/?id=18807&cid=458 I am sure you can find it in a store near you. Don't make me send you some! LOL
I never met a Lundberg rice I didn't like, but their rice mixes are the BEST!
hello all,
sorry i havnt been on for a bit...
been busy with the daughter and grand baby and such.
Phew! what a week. the c section went fine except that she couldnt have a spinal as her blood was too thin and she was anemic ( cant spell it). i told her she was and them! but i am just the mom, you know how it is. so they had to put her under. she is taking some time to get over it being so run down.. THEN..... you know how when you have an op, they put in a drain tube? well, they went to take hers out and it wouldnt come out! tey were pulling and pulling and she was screaming and crying out for them to stop. finally, can you believe it, they had four nurses hold her down and just yank it out and it turned out it had been put in with a knot in the end of it!!!!!!!!!!!!! the poor girl... freshly cut from the c section and then they did that. she was so traumatised. i insisted that an investigation be held and after it was all we got back is that the doctor didnt know how it happened. i wanted her to get compensation but they dont want to sigh.. it was really aweful!
anyway, she is home and baby is doing well. he is gaining each day and tho he was a little jauntice to begin with he is now fine.
Man, i need a holiday now! lol
So, best thing? its over......
Worst thing.... the whole drainage tube thing...
what i have learnt?.... just breathe...
will post a pic as soon as i get one...
have a good day you all!
x
Good Morning everyone!
I feel asleep early last night, so this is for Monday:
Best thing: DH made it to his destination (I really am only tense while he is in rout, not so much because he is out of town), and I didn't have to cook dinner!! Kids were thrilled with cereal and icecream, my kitchen remained as clean as I left it, and there was no guilt about going to bed at 8:30 last night.
Worst Thing: My 8 yo daughter couldn't find her taekwondo uniform right before it was time to leave for their class - I bought her a new one, and promptly found the "lost uniform" as soon as we got home!! URGHHHH
What I learned: If there is a "Murphy's Law" I will usually prove it to be true!
Hope everyone is healthy and well. Thank you all for the wonderful and warm welcome. Bettypauze, your yard is heavenly. Ahhhhhh.
Happy Tuesday,
Sara

best thing, dh and i found some energy and played in the garage worked on a few projects it was nice to feel like something got done.
worst thing i couldnt understand why i was missing a day of vacation on my check,
called payroll to find out, well i went through three weeks taking a day here a day there
what i learned i need to manage my hours better
have a wonderful day all liz
Good Morning All!
I've been off work for 5 days and can't seem to get back into work mode; hate when that happens.
Last Thursday, we headed out to our 50 acres of land/bush to start more cleanup and stayed in our trailer that night. There's no heat or electric yet, so we pretty much froze our petunias off. Friday, we headed to MIL's place in Quebec to visit.....good conversation, great food and warm bed , just fab. Saturday morning we headed back to Ontario where I met up ViolaAnn & sanannie (Ann & Sandy) near Arnprior. Me & Ann did a hosta swap and got to see the museum plant sale where Sandy volunteers. Very nice place! Later DH and I headed back to our land to do more work but the endless supply of mozzies and black flies really kept me hiding. We finally decided to leave on Sunday and just chill out the rest of the day. Monday was another relax and garden day.
So I'll go with Monday for my B, W & L (best, worst & learned):
Best: Got 5 containers planted yesterday for the deck area using many of own my seed started annuals and few that I bought for extra colour.
Worst: Ants! Is there a bumper crop of them this year or what??
Learned: That DH really does appreciate the garden and the work that I do in it. He is finally seeing how big perennials can get and all the spaces filling in. He knows a hosta from a heuchera, a peony from rose, a clematis from a morning glory. Geez, he really was always listening as I was rambling.
Wonder, I cringed at what your daughter had to go through. I can't believe they just yanked like that....sounds rather barbaric!
Betty, you have so much space!! It looks soooo purdy! Do you have hostas planted?? I read back in the thread and you asked what lily or daylily I would suggest but honestly, I don't have a clue yet which one is better than another. I tend to immerse myself in the hosta world and have a better handle on those. What I can say is that I have an Asiatic lily called Corrida and the colouring is not so great, kinda faded out looking so don't get that one. I'm not much help am I ,lol.
Darius...feeling better today? sure do hope so...don't overdo it until you know all the results...I wonder why they don't just start with the CT scan..maybe it's the cost????
Bluekat..did you get to go to the Farm Bill because you intend to do family farming and if so..does this group also provide funding in efforts to keep the family farm going??? think they offer funding here for small farmers..not sure though... Have you checked out 'garage sales and /or flea markets' for your lamp...I bought an antique one for $30.00 last month and now I just need to find time to do the stained glass shade..that's a winter project though...
Wonder...OMG..what a traumatic experience for all of you, but on the upside, look at the adorable Riley??? bet it was worth it....now where did you hide that camera of yours..waiting anxiously for photo's of all...
Green971...It's amazing what a good night's rest will do....How long will your DH be away? Usually when you are alone coping with everything that's when Murphy steps in..he's just checking your strength to deal with issues on your own (lol)...Amen to the clean kitchen...I ate out all weekend and except for 4 coffee mugs, kitchen remains spotless... a lot to be said for living alone...
Gardengirl..How's Murphy's training doing? Bet he's a hight energy puppy..right???
Wuvie..hope my experience with ordering turns out better...I ordered 2 different types of lillies for a gift for 'tree_Climber" and they should arrive this week...I ordered from a USA nursery somaybe it's different from e-bay orders...or not??? That company has a lot to be desired in the 'customer service' dept. disappointing to say the least when you so looked forward to planting the seeds....
Liz...I did spend more than I should have...why I think I need more flowers/shrubs and then more flowers again..don't know ...I'm preparing a bed for around the pond hoping that the construction crew working next door to me might have my rocks over to my place prior to the weekend..so am accumulating mega plants...so funny, new beds look so bare when you start (wanting them to look at least 10 year old beds) and then by fall you are trying to relocate some of the plants as you have too many...what kind of projects did you and hubby work on? Photo's please!!!! Funny how those "1 Day" vacation days accumulate...but, look at it this way, it means you ended up with an extra day of vacation!
Erynne..we've missed you...where is your '50 acre lot' is it located going north?? Glad you enjoyed your 5 days off..not bothered as yet with Black flies but boy are those mosquitos out in droves...DH is doing better than I in recognizing different species of plants lol...As for the hostas..SIL said I had 3 varieties of hostas..have some shadded areas so I'll have to look for more.....
Hope I've not missed anyone, if I have, it was accidental!!!! Quiet here at work...will take a snooze...nice to come to work and rest...lol...bye for now...
Betty, I went to learn more about the Bill, it was a Slow Food event and I went with a local oganic farmer who knows lots about what is really going on with the bill. The author of Food Fight http://www.watershedmedia.org/foodfight_overview.html was on the panel and I was able to buy his book @ a discount. The book is kinda like the Farm Bill for Dummies. LOL I am very pro sustainable agriculture and eating local but not so informed about the politics going on.
I want all to know I read everyone's posts and laugh, cry, celebrate and commiserate!
Thanks Bluekat..thing of you often and wonder how you are doing...
Thanks for the info on FarmBill..
OPPPPS...just 1 more update...did find "missy" my cat..guess I had gone to back shed and taken lawnmower out in the morning...she had found herself a cushion (for wicker set) and made herself at home..she was hungry/thirsty..but well
Aww, it's nice to be missed...tks Betty. Sorry my posting is so erratic but my life is not much different, lol.
The lot is located about 15 or 20 mins north of Verona off of Hwy 38. We go into Verona for all of needs and I like to eat at the Bravo restaurant (yummy desserts).
Right now, the land is mainly a wild forest and needs a lot of work to make it safe & healthy. Two of our neighbours in the area just strolled onto our land to introduce themselves. How they knew we were there is beyond me because our trailer is so hidden that you can't see anything from the road. One fellow has been there quite a while and told us many things that we weren't aware of .....I'm glad they came to visit :o)
A new link for this wonderful thread:
