best little thing on mother's day- my mom has a mother dove and two babies nesting in her tool storage space- it was lovely. will try to get a pic. she and they sit perfectly still and look at you.
Best thing/worse thing and what did you learn today?continue
SallyG...isn't that a sign 'that peace' lives there...
ha ha- mom is a quiet person but not feeling peaceful about the old house getting run down and the neighbors who aren't very good on upkeep! but we felt peaceful while we gazed on the doves.
hey there,
worst thing?... spent the night in hospital, hate those places. Heart irregular and nothing they can do as its not all the time. its aweful when it happens and i hate it.
best thing? my grandson will be born tomorrow! Just one more sleep!
What i learnt? i have a great husband who loves and supports me... i am very thankful.
Love seeing all the pictures. Sadly, I'm not
keeping up with the thread very well. :-(
Best thing? Hard to choose, there were a few.
Cody's friend and his family came out to collect
blossoms for their daughter's graduation. They
are from Hawaii and wanted her to wear a genuine
Lei for graduation, so they are using our flowers. Aww!
Worst thing? A tick bit my hip and it won't stop stinging.
What I've learned today? That a net used to catch minnows
is called a SEINE.
Hmm.
Don't forget everyone, hug each other everyday!
Aurabest,
john
hello all,
hope everyone had a good mothers day,
betty that is a nice gazebo
best thing:i took on a project and finished it!
the worst: i got my gasoline bill omg!!!!
what i learned:younger kids have no work ethics, it just kills me to see this.
Worse thing: Took the day off waiting for a phone call that didn't come.
Best thing: DS came for a visit so I had a good visit with him.
What did I learn: That something good can come from something bad.
So nice to read all your posts...
Best thing that happened to me today was the trusses arrived with all the materials needed for new roof...
Worse thing..well there were a few....
got a telephone call at 2:30 a.m. - an individual who keeps wanting to take me out called ... I was so annoyed, heart was beating double it's beat..thought it was bad news...individual said he knew that I wasn't the type of person to hang up, be rude etc. kept the conversation to 5 minutes..then couldn't go back to sleep...
Got a telephone call from an old girlfriend, her DH passed away..we will get together hopefully this weekend for a visit..Trevor was a wonderful man..he will be missed...
Also got a call at work from June who lives in town here, I always joke that her hubby has two wives...anytime I need something done and mention it, over comes Alex..really do call him an earthly angel....he had two massive heart-attacks over the weekend..she didn't want to upset me but felt I should know...he was sent to Toronto for test today, he's back in Midland now, waiting for a call to have open heart surgery...so, I'm off to do my prayers in hopes that miracle will happen...
What did I learn today....well, everyone should have a number on their house..lol...the company delivered the materials, saw the other house being built and delivered it next door...I forgot that once they did the siding that I had no street number on the house...they'll come back tomorrow to pick up materials and deliver here at my home...
It's really been quite a day..so I'm off tonight, will do my daily write up tomorrow...sleep well my friends, God bless.....
Best thing today: Relaxing day with a friend cooking and sharing, then preparing garden beds, weeding, laying soaker hose and pruning.
Worst thing: I was fired from my job. Never saw it coming and no reason was given. At-will employment but I had no idea. Crazy, I really liked working there. They know I am going back to school...maybe that was part of the decision - don't know.
Learned: Just when you think life is up side down something else comes along. I believe you are never given more than you can handle but this month is quite the test.
Good for you Wonder - a new grandson and a loving DH!
Thanks blue....
sorry to hear about your job...
bluekat,
sorry to hear about your job too,
take care of yourself liz
Bluekat, perhaps in this new transition in life that you are going through, another postion will become available in a field that you've always wanted to follow but dared not..it's a challenge..but something good will come from these difficult times...my prayers and thoughts are with you...keep care
well off for work..terrible storm last night...I was up yet again most of the night, so I'll be napping for sure at work (lol)...
may you all enjoy your dya...
bluekat wish things we're going better! But it could be a great opportunity for you!
bluekat- so sorry
Thanks all. Feels kinda weird not having any plans or place to be. A new door has opened and I just don't know where it leads yet.
-Kim
All of a sudden sweetie it will become clear to you..do not despair..remember, we are all here for you...
Kim, use this time for yourself. Hit the garden girl and know everything will work out!
bluekat76, I was fired from my last job (long story) but
it was not my doing or my fault. At the time I was mad,
not necessarily because I was dismissed, but because
of the way it was handled and the person behind the
plan. Funny thing is, it turned out to be the biggest positive
in my life at the time.
When a door closes, a window opens. This may very
well be a wonderful thing for you. A silver lining indeed.
So far today for me, the best thing? Hubby found out what
was wrong with the high wheel trimmer.
Worst thing? I feel exhausted and don't know why.
What I've learned? That when pressured with legalities,
bad liars will fold.
Another hour and it's home time..so thought I'd post my comments to you all...
Wuvie..it's just nice to see you post..not everyone has the time to do it daily, even though I so enjoy reading them..so post when you can...I worry about you and tht tick..I had posted the following on an earlier post and thought I'd post again...
"son Greg was quite ill a few years ago, on his hip he had a dark discolored area and a small growth within the area that kept bothering him..his wife kept insisting he should have it checked..when he finally did it was at the dangerous stage..they operated and took a biopsy..now I KNOW you'll not believe this because I barely did..when the Doctor put it on the table, the piece virtually walked away...anyway,the biopsy came back and Greg needed a lot of medical help...apparently when the doctor had taken the piece out, the head remained as did eggs...he had to have operation, was very ill, took mega pills etc. so please not sure if the tick you are speaking about is something similar, but do be careful..can cause death!!! So go have it looked after ASAP!!!!"
You said you were so tired...Greg also had that as a symptom..so do not delay...off to the doctor or hospital you go..please let me know outcome...
Caribblue - John, id my hugging today!!! how's the scuba diving going...hope you are getting out often..we're soooo waiting to see underwater photo's..is that possible?
Lizrainey...now if you don't mind my asking, what kind of project did you complete? Saw your comment on gas...I'm almost afraid to get gas on my way home..saw at lunch time that it was $1.12 a litre..now not sure how much that comes to in gallons..but know it's mega dollars...think I could ride a bicycle 100 miles to save on gas and help out the environment???? lol
Darius...did you get the other flat of flowers planted...can't believe how everything grows so quickly..can almost hear the leaves on the big oak trees open...just in a few day, they're almost all green...
Wonder, hope you are feeling better...isn't middle age fun..lol..NOT..those hot flashes just about did me in...Looking at my clock and with the time difference am wondering if the new family addition has been born yet and if so, how's mom and baby doing? bet you'll feel a lot better once that's over....You had better give that DH of your a smootch for me...present for keeping you all under control...
Araness...How's your medication schedule going...adjusting well to the schedule and seeing results I hope???
Gardengirl1204...how's your day going? Are you over that sleepover yet? Bet they all had a great time..and daddy as well...did he get to participate or lead in games??? boy things???
Bluekat76..you've been in my thoughts all day today...know these are hard times for you...everything coming at you at once...very hard to deal with..but take a deep/deep breath, make a sigh and relax...know we're all here for you!!!
Ves522...Waiting for the telephone to ring is not one of my fvorite things to do..I'm just tooo impatient..if I commit to doing something I do it, hate it when others commit to calling and you sit/sit/sit..probably that's my pet peave....But it did give you the opportunity to spend the day with your son...so that's a plus...is your pond operational yet?
Dravencat..hope you had an enjoyable Mother's Day and that they children and DH showed you just how much you mean to them..
Gitagal..I've returned several times to rad your poetry...do you work on it daily or is it just something that you feel and spur of the moment..guess you have to be in the mood, correct..know it's that way with painting...
Erynne and 101....missing hearing about your days? please join in...
crashbandiscoot...how are you feeling sweetie..takes weeks to get back to normal (what normal is who knows) after the anniversary of a death...know you miss your friend as do I miss mine...
tehegemon...how are the dogs enjoying this nice weather..do they get to stay outside all day..is you area fenced in?
Nap..how is work going..hope that boss of your is showing her appreciation for all the extra effort you put in...
Balveni...did you get your shed re-shaked or now that your wife is back, is she keeping you too busy..lol
GiddyMoon...baking zuchinni bread yet...how big have they grown since last you posted...know you said it was hot/hot/hot...wouldn't mind it if you sent some of your heat my way...
Merigold...how is the stress level going for you Step daughter...hope she's feeling better...miss your posts as well...
Snipe..did you ever get that vacuum cleaner repaired or did you have to replace it with a new one....

mslilian..how are you...seeking employment or are now now a person of leisure????
Zaphron2..how are things going...is your lifepartner gaining strength..hope all is well with you both...
Bettypauze,
NO! I do not write Poetry at all. It is just that I CAN if I sit down and make my mind up to do so. Usually, I have to have a topic/subject in mind or a reason to do it. Or--I have a deep feeling about someone/something and I want to express it in a poetic way. Maybe I need to do more of it. When I read it back, I almost tear over because it is so beautiful. It is like I cannot believe that it came out of ME!
You are amazing!!!! How you direct your comments at everyone that has posted. A real sweetheart!
I have been reading this post from the beginning, but I have not posted anything. Hmmmmmmmmmmm??????? Wonder why? Perhaps I do not wish to filter out the good and the bad and the what I have learned from all the goings on during any given day. I am very psychologically oriented, and not sure if I could isolate the "ME" from all the rest of my experiences. I am NOT a person that is very in touch with "feelings" of any kind in my life, even though i DO feel a lot. Sounds confusing, I know, but that is how it is.
Let me try here:
Best thing--
I was off today, and will be tomorrow (from work), and so am/was trying to tackle planting all the flowers I have bought and that have been sitting on my picnic table for 2 weeks. Great weather! Finally getting to it! Did several of my big planter pots.
Worst thing:
Had to stop half way through the work to drive 1/2 hour to get my hair cut. Had to be done! Now it is hard to resume. Had dinner, watched Oprah, and now am catching up with all the stuff on DG. Should be outside! Am going to as soon as all this is done.....:o)
What I have learned:----------
I always procrastinate with things that are not absolutely imminent that they get done. Then I hate myself for doing so. BUT! I already know that.....Then--when I have to work, I fuss over when I will get this or that done. So redundant!!! That is how my life operates.
There! I posted!
Gita
Some of the coral gardens are just spectacular. I think the underwater gardens are so beautiful, and so full of life.....if I could only get my topside gardens to look half as good, I truly would have something!!!
Thanks for looking,
j
OMG John, how beautiful..the colours are so vibrant..what a feeling you must have ...to be able to view such beauty..can't even imagine it..I love to paint..picture #1 would look so lovely on a wall...do you enlarge your photo's and decorate your home...they look so tropical and of course they are....beauty is overwhelming...
John,
What does "Aurabest" mean????? It has such a nice ring to it. like
"May the best Aura surround you all day".....:o)
Thanks, Gita
Hi Betty!
Sorry I haven't posted....I've been hiding in the garden every spare chance.
Best: Today was DH's b-day so we took the day off from work.
Worst: Laid down at 2:30pm just to think for a minute and fell dead asleep. Woke up at 5:30pm and missed my valuable gardening time.......thunder storms started to roll in here. I think the sudden humidity got to me or something.
Learned: I absolutely cannot remember where half the plants in my garden originally came from without referring to my notes and that's if I kept notes in the first place. I'll be using my journal more now to help with that. I have a pink bleeding heart and I'm driving myself crazy trying to think where it came from ....I'm in complete denial about ever having planted it,lol.
Wonder, that is a very lovely pic of you and your daughter!
Bettypauze--thanks for you inquiry about my partner--Vince. He has been home for a week and was able to return to work. His biggest challenge is getting used to taking multiple meds each day. My insurance company had a nurse that calls him on Monday to review the week and answer any questions that he might have.
Best thing: Many of my coworkers were thrilled when I gave them invitations to our annual Memorial Day Brunch. Each year we have a potluck brunch in the back yard. We make huge piles of french toast with trimmings and many pots of yummy coffee. I challenge my guests to get creative--bring out the secret recipes. Just make something other than fruit salad and don't bring donuts/bagels from the store. Party starts at 11am and last year we went until 10pm. I expect that it will be another all day affair--since we will be hosting several out of town guests this year. Lots of Fun.
Bad thing: We got repeated calls at work that the mulch in the beddings at work was on fire. My boss and I walked all over the parking lot (large strip mall). We finally found the smouldering mulch--the concerned but not helping parties wanted to point out that the 2 foot wide smouldering spot could make someone's car blow up. The ridiculous part is that the mulch was in the far reach of the parking lot two store fronts away--which is over a city block away.
What I learned: Annoying moments like the fire call above can turn out to be hilarious. My boss--Missy and I have decided that we are the hottest thing on the block. After all--we are now firefighters. The calendar will be out in time for Christmas. We are still fighting over who gets to be August. Fortunately for me, I do get to laugh alot at work.
Today's worst... I put styrofoam peanuts in the bottom of 4 very large containers yesterday to cut down on the amount of potting soil needed. But then I only had enough potting soil for 2 of them. I stacked the unpotted ones against the garden shed and went to town to buy more soil but didn't get home before dark. I totally forgot about them this morning when the wind was really blowing. Result: hundreds and hundreds of peanuts all across one section of my yard. What a mess!
Best: My sis is recuperating from a fall in the bathtub, bruised and/or fractured ribs, nothing they can do about cracked ribs except Time. At her age (58) it won't heal quickly.
What I learned today: I bite off more than I can chew.
Gitagal, you have such an extra ordinary talent...have a thought...my girlfriends mother wrote poetry all the days of her life, she kept them and then had them bound into a book! She was able to sell many of them and gave many to friends/relatives as gifts....I really enjoyed your posts..do hope you will join us...don't you love it when you get a new hair cut..hairdresser got carried away this time with mine..taking forever to grow....
Good evening all...now for my day...
Best thing..as some of you know my grandson Kyle comes over on Tuesday nights to play t.v. bingo..well tonight we won $400.00..so Kyle will get $100. and I get $300. now come on you guys, it's fair..I buy the cards every week...my grandson Noah was a bit upset that he did not come and play tonight as he usually comes...but, perhaps Kyle and I can treat him!!!!
Worse thing that happened today is getting news that Alex, my girlfriends husband needs a triple bi-pass..they'll keep him in hospital until they can arrange to have him sent to Newmarket for the operation..
What I learnt ...had let tooo much time go since my Dad's death to keep in touch with my brother...I called about a month ago and it's been wonderful to again have him in my life...he dropped in today and is going to do the top deck roofs in front of the house and back as well....crew got trusses up and plywood on..tomorrow if the singles are delivered on time they'll try to get it done tomorrow -barring it rains..if not they'll have that part done before weekend...then, they'll finish the metal work next week..it's our long weekend this weekend..
Am for the my father-in-law's burial - he passed Jan.7th...and then will have Sat.Sun. and monday to enjoy...
Now what can I treat myself with for $300.00....any suggestions? lol...
Goodnight all...sleep well...talk tomorrow...
Hi All,
Betty, I survived the sleepover! They were actually very good. I think my husband only checked on them a few times - they were really into some playstation game so Dad was not invited. I got real early the next morning to got see my Mom so when I got home, all the boys were gone, the room cleaned and the laundry done! Dang, I like Mother's Day!
Let's see, I've fallen behind in my 'Best/worst/learned' entries so I'm going to do yesterday:
Best: DH and I celebrated our 14th anniversary. We are SO goofy. We sent each other silly emails throughout the day and he even did a powerpoint slide show with all the action and stuff! We went to dinner at Maggiano's. Another best for the day is we have found out our new puppy will be a boy so "Murphy" will be coming home with us Saturday!
Worst: my fountain keeps getting green and gunky so I have to change it EVERY day!
Learned: that 14 yrs FLYS by so fast! It seems like yesterday that we got married!
Everyone have a wonderful day!!!
hello all,
gitagal welcome,
i like your writing!
betty, lol
home depot sent you out a invitation...
my finished project, i've been watching the group on hypertufa/concrete
and decided im going to make a leaf so i did complete it its posted over there
best thing: checked out the garden the tomatoes and squash are producing finally
worst thing we got a call at work our district manager is comming to visit today
what i learned:you cant sneak up on a duck, they catch you every time!.
Morning!
Worse thing: went back to work after 5 days off and found out the 2 that worked monday night didn't do any cleaning, stocking or facing of shelves, Manager called and asked what took so long to answer and I told her I was doing last nights work. She laughed.
Best thing: Worked outside for 3 hours. Planted some flowers, dug up some rocks and did some weeding.
What I learned: if given enough time I can do the work of 3! LOL
Betty the pond is almost ready to go. If I get off work soon enough we can put the edging on it tonight and tomorrow I can put the fish in. I'm so excited!
Good morning all...it's a rainy day here in Toronto, was spitting when I left home this morning...had hoped it wouldn't rain so the crew could get the house shingled...oh well, they do the best they can...told them to order a pizza from next door and pop in fridge..should have bought a case of beer so they could have a treat while waiting for the rain to stop...told the contractor about my winning at bingo last night and he said he'd have the $300 of mine spent by the time I get home...lol...they are doing such a wonderful job and are even adding a few extra's...again..I am just SOOOO excited with the entire process....
Erynne..a pink bleeding heart? My grandmother had beautiful red ones..she told me as they got older they lost their color and that's why she also had some white ones..is this possible...I too should keep a journal...everyone gives me plants..I'm not great with names..know hostas, roses, iris and that's about it..quite the gardener right..but I am learning...lol...not sure about the photo of the 'daughter'..I only have sons and grandsons...which photo are you referring to???? curious...maybe someone needs a haircut..lol...
Zaphron2...party sounds exciting..and so many new things to taste...how WE all wish we lived closer..we could join you..of course we didn't get an invite...lol....hope weather will co-operate...cute about being on firefighters calendar...have to tell you a story I heard on news last night...in a town about 50 miles from where I live, the firefighters were training..there was an old abandoned house so guess they decided to set it on fire for practice...guess what..it wasn't abandoned...it has an OWNER who is non too pleased...isn't that funny..who know, the owner may end up with a brand new home....sure hope it wasn't their homestead though....
Darius...know it's not funny, but I am laughing at the image of you running, while the wind is blowing picking up the popcorn pieces...Hope your sister is doing better..you said at her age '58' - I'm 59 so now you've really made me laugh..here I think we were still young chicks...too funny...but I do hope she's better..ribs can take such a long time to heal and know she's in a lot of pain...
Ves522...Isn't it frustrating when you are the one doing all the work...doesn't seem fair does it..maybe you should be asking your boss for wages of three....what kind of fish will you be putting in your pond..I've often considered adding fish but I worry about the cats getting at them...I've birdhouses all over, picked up a double large bag of bird seed but am also concerned about enticing birds, feeding them only to have the cats perhaps hunt them...
Gitagal...hope you will soon post another one of your poems for us..we all enjoyed you last one..we are so pleased that you've joined us...
lizrainey...looked for your photo of the leaves..couldn't locate..can you give me the locations...here are a few I've done so far...will make about 20 more large ones in order to make pathway from pond to house...sorry, tried to copy just the photo's of the leaves...but unable to do so, probably could..I just don't know how...but you can see them on page 3 of my album...on page 1 I've photo's of muskoka chairs and table I gave my son and his wife..I've purchased 2 chairs and will start a set for myself..done a little differently..you might enjoy...

Hello!!!!!
I'm back!
Sorry for the delay but as you all know, I am a granny for the second time as of 11.15 yesterday which is your today! lol
He is lovely and i will post a pic as soon as it comes through.
My DD had to have a general anesthetic instead of a spinal for the c section as her blood was not clotting well and they were concerned if they gave her a spinal that there was a risk of bleeding into her spine.
So they put her under. she was groggy but fine poor darling. doesnt matter how old they are (she is 27) they are you baby and you worry.
So, Riley Johnathon Meek arrived weighing 8lb 9 and 51cm long (about 21 inches). he is lovely...
it was a long day and im tired even this morning but will go and see them again today for another cuddle and kiss.
welcome gita and i enjoyed your post.
Thanks erynne for the compliment, your too kind..
caribblue, the photos are amazing!! under water garden?? never heard of that.. is there such a thing or have i totally missed the plot? lol
Best thing... well you all know thats an easy one... my grandson... the first kiss, the first cuddle.. looking at his tiny hands and fingernail....his little ears....seeing his eyes open as if to say 'whats going on' hahahah seeing his little lip drop when they gave him his shots... poor sweetie....seeing my daughter come back and see her son for the first time...its truly wonderful.
worst thing.... the ex who hasnt spoken to the kids in months and months found out in a round about way that my DD was going in for the c section and at 11pm the night before started texting her DH causing toruble and complaining he wasnt told. My poor DD heard it and was so upset (she had been sound asleep) that she called me crying. she didnt get any sleep and so wasnt in good shape the morning of the c section. can you believe it? thats the kind of person he is.....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. she wants to tell him never to contact her again as it causes her so much heart ache. she just feels guilty about it. I just told her to get better and think about it later. not to worry now and to rest and enjoy her new son.
you know those kind of people who do aweful things and never seem to suffer consequences? he is one of those! oh the storiesi could tell....
ok, sorry... needed to vent....
what i have learnt.....there is always going to be bad things/people and such. we have to try and find a way to triumph and move on. look at the wonders (no pun intended) and appreciate the good.
thanks for listening..
x
Congratulations Wonder....can't wait to see the photo's...
Best thing that happened to me today...seing the grandsons so excited when they got their bingo winnings..Kyle got $100.00 because he played last night but when I saw the look of disappointment on Noah's face, I gave him $25.00 as a treat..so he felt much better...also liked the singles..color that was chosen suits the house..I couldn't make it to pick, so I said, anything will do, I'm not a fussy person...their choice..A1...
Worse thing...rained all day, worker came for about 2 hrs. started to build the roof over the deck ready for roof..if it's nice my brother might come over with a friend and do that part..front and back...was hoping they'd be finished the heavy work by weekend, but, can't expect these men to work in a downpour...
What did I learn today...to keep in my office and play with my friends on DG when Paul, my BIL is in a foul mood !! For one reason or another..nothing to do with work though he was quite abrupt with everyone......sooooo just entertained myself..but it was a long day...tomorrow he'll be joking...so let it slide...right?
Best thing: It finally rained here and I had a nice day running errands, checking things off my list and bought a new pair of shoes.
Worst thing: having to tell people friends I was fired
Learned: I promised people tomato plants - when were they going to remind me?
