Best thing/worse thing and what did you learn today?continue
good job
sallyg and good morning!
hello all,
thanks sallyg,
hello vess...
Morning to you to Lizrainey!
We will have sunshine so far today. Maybe clouds and some rain later if I remember right!
Thank you Sally, good morning all..been to town, spent all my $$$..even purchased a water tube to pull behind boat for granchildren..not sure why, but seemed like the thing to do..also purchased 3 shrubs...mock orange..so now I'm all tire out..picked up gas for lawnmower but it's so cold out..maybe I'll do it in small increments..lol...have a fun day all..talk later
you're all welcome.
wishing all good bests for the day. and only litlle worsts.
I'm learning- sometimes I don't think I;m even competent to manage my own life. But nobody else will do it for me so I guess my best will have to do.
Best thing so far? Hubby and son helped with yard work.
Worst thing? I failed to wear sun protection this morning. In
just a short time, I managed a not-so-nice burn on my shoulders
and back.
What I've learned today? Check it out:
http://www.birdwatchersgeneralstore.com/gracklepoop.htm
Going out to play in the shade now. Making some concrete hands.
Just fill up a heavy duty glove with concrete and come back next
week, then peel the glove off. LOL
I think I am a day behind! Oh well will do todays
Worse thing: It is taking forever to plant the garden.
Best thing: DH went to his brother's this afternoon. Peace and quiet to get my work done.
What did I learn:That it takes forever to plant the garden!
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
howdie all,
best thing?.. spent time in my fernery cleaning and potting an such! orchids are starting to bloom...
worst thing? plapataions all day *sigh* heading for menopause and apparently its one of the symptoms. this was confirmed by the cardio specialist so, guess i have to put up with it,
i wanted to post a couple of pics of the fernery as some didnt know what it was. so i hope you dont mind me posting a couple of times.
This one is when it is in bloom. it comes off the back of the house from the back door.
Best thing was that several trade plants are starting to look better, albeit now in pots and not yet in the ground.
Worst thing is realizing I'm not young anymore and everything takes me 3X as long to do in the garden.
I learned that my new riding mower uses LOTS of gasoline!
For Friday:
Best: - it was Friday and I left work early and got my nails done!!!
Worst: after 8 yrs of being able to wear shorts to work on Fridays, the new dept I'm in says "no way"!! :(
What I learned: pick your battles!
For Saturday:
Best: Gorgeous day! Was able to work in my garden. Went to my son's baseball game and they won!
Worst: not really "worst" but we've got 5 10 yr old boys spending the night tonight for my son's birthday - fuuuuuuun!
What I learned: That if you click the "skip to new" at the top of the thread, it takes you right to the last post! It only took 2 yrs of posting here to figure that one out!!!! LOL
Wonder you have a beautiful daughter and you are a striking woman. I would kill to be able to have that color hair.
I was so lucky this weekend my sister and her DH came in from Alabama for a short visit on her way to Houston to drop of a moving van full of wedding gifts (year old) for my DN and her hubby since they have finally been able to buy a house. I think it did her a bit of good also, since I've been ill of late she can now see that I'm doing much better and won't worry as much.
Worst part of the day is trying to get into the routine of these shots! I forgot one set today...sat down and ate lunch and didn't even think about it till it was to late. Going to be a major adjustment having to get use to it.
What I've learned is that a 9mm port works better for me than a 6mm one.
You all would have loved my posts and comments I just finished typing, then I went back to photo's to look at them one more time and everything disappeared..so I guess I'll not do that again...
SallyG..want you to walk right now in front of a mirror and tell yourself just how wonderful you are, you are able to successfully do anything you set your mind to...God doesn't make junk girl...
Wuvie...guess I'll be looking to purchase a bag of cement to try my hand at making hands..lol...nice when you have help to do yard work...checked out your bird site and am just too tired to concentrate tonight but will look at it in the am..thanks for sharing..and hope you are coping with that sunburn..remember, always wear sunscreen..
Ves522...are you planting flower/vegetable garden or both? If you are like me, every time I'm out weekend I have to enlarge each bed just a bit more...no wonder it takes forever to plant/clean..bet you enjoyed your day on your own..always nice to be with ones'self..
Wonder..are you in trouble...I don't know what I (or perhaps we) was visually forming the mental picture from information you were giving us, but I KNOW it wasn't the picture of the beautiful woman I see in the photo..beautiful eyes, your and your daughter..she sure does take after her mother...I loved the picture of your gardens...bet it's a heavenly are to enjoy the day...I'm still at a loss for words...why you would think you were anything but gorgeous is amazing...
As for the photo's of each member I think that would be great..now I'll have to get my nails done, hair set, new outfit so I can look as attractive..lol...just kidding..I'll take a photo..
You can tell when I'm extremely tired I ramble so I'll tell you a funny story, in fact I'll post it one day...after my DH passed away, I realized that we didn't have many family photo's and I wanted to give the boys each one, so I got the bright idea to get a photo of each of us and have an artist pen and ink it..then I'd get them framed for the boys and for myself...
It got a great laugh from the boys, my DH looked great - photo was about when he was 45, both boys just a few months before DH passed and then I found the most gorgeous photo of myself..they boys couldn't believe I'd have myself draw at about 25 yrs of age..said MOM, you look younger than we do!...I'm not crazy, if I'm going to be posted in their homes I to want to be gorgeous...
Darius..that will be the next thing on my 'saving for' list..a riding lawn mower..even though it may cost you a few dollars more, at least you are riding..cut 3 1/2 hrs. this morning and still have another hour to finish..must be difficult getting plants sent by mail to survive - does it not..I was lucky last year, I received in the trade 'sadies horse beans' - planted them and OMG I had beautiful vines/flowers it almost seemed within weeks..I kept the beans over winter and put them in wet paper towels and within a week it looked like trees peeping through the towel..I planted them today..look forward to their beauty..and Darius, don't we all try to do what we did when young...it just takes so much energy now..maybe we should slow down and enjoy the day!
Gardengirl1204..how's your sanity going with all those boys...bet you are enjoying all of it..what a wonderful way to spend his birthday..my gransons are 11/10/9/8 and I enjoy having them all together..seems they pair up and go different ways..
oh well, tomorrow you can sit and enjoy the day...
Araness...you'll have to really watch your schedule re your medication...you don't want to confuse your body...maybe you could get yourself a little timer until you're into a routine....nice for you to have a visit from your sister and BIL...know she was just checking up on you making sure your feeling better..very heartwarming....
Best thing that happened to me today is having Greg/Mel and the boys over for turkey dinner..tomorrow night it's supper at their house....
Worse thing worrying about my youngest son (37 years of age) who called last night to say he'd be out at the 'dirtbike track' for the day...he had quite an injury last year and I had hoped he'd outgrown his interest in it...not bad when he takes his 2 sons with him (bought them each a dirtbike-don't think mom's excited over it either) he tends to have to go slower...know he's 37 but he's my baby and I worry/worry and worry..Greg asked me as soon as he arrived if I had heard from Jeff, of course I thought something had happened and he didn't want to tell me...no wonder I have grey hair....
What did I learn today...you can't get up at 3:00 a.m. and get but one more hour of naps and expect not to fall asleep on company..could feel Greg moving my leg to kind of wake me up...anyway everyone I'm off for let's hope..a good night sleep...
bye for now..God bless and keep each and everyone of you dear people ....I enjoy you all!
Betty, so much for it being "Mother's Day Eve"! I told my DH that the boy parties are his and I get our daughter's parties. Well, guess what he's doing? Playing solitaire on his new Blackberry. So I am heading up to the bedroom, iron my skirt for church tomorrow (I'm heading down to Wmsburg to surprise MY Mother) and then I'm gonna lay on my nice clean (fresh air-dried) sheets and read my new CBS Soaps mag and watch Animal Planet! I;m going to have a BLAST!!! And dear old DH can deal with the boys upstairs playing Playstation! HA!
Happy Mother's Day All!
hello all,
wuvie be careful in the sun, what are you going to do with those cement hands?
darius, you'll always be young at heart
araness, you'll get it down
garden girl, lol i didn't know the"skip to new" either
wonder, your a lovely lady love the picture with your daughter ,hope your felling better i remember last year when i found out i was starting menopause early i went into a full panaic,(life was over ) lol so i jumped out of a airplane what a thrill...
i like your idea on the pictures i'll see what i can find.
betty, hello i loved the story on that picture, i hope you got enough rest today
i'll say a prayer for the boys on the bikes.
best thing : got to rest most of the day and spend it with dh
worst thing: weather changed windy and cold, the pool got cancelled maby next week:(
what i learned: this has to be one of the greatest threads!
happy mothers day all liz
well thankyou for your kind compliments. I dont feel the way you see me but i truly do appreciate it. it feels good!
haha as for my hair colour, 9.95 in the suoermarket! hahahahh the grey is catching up!
and as for ther change, it really, really....bites! (hope thats not too rude over there).
what can you do tho?
Best thing... its mothers day and the family is here... you know whats funny? while i am talking to you now, i have a colour processing in my hair my daughter bought me wahahahahahahah too funny!
worst thing.... the palpatations... yuk.
what i have learnt... be hapoy as much as you can and try and find it in the simple things.
happy mothers day xx

http://www.jacquielawson.com/viewcardm.asp?code=1218983983461&ob=1
I'm impressed...it worked...
Special prayer for all those who'se Mothers are no longer with them, for those who are astranged, for the Mothers' who's sons/daughters are overseas fighting for our freedom...God bless them all!
Thank you Betty!
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL!
Betty - I like your idea about task notes in a jar. It is hard enough for me to remember what I wanted to do much less do them so that is a good idea.
Yesterday
Best thing: nice clients at work and talking with a DG friend live on the phone.
Worst thing: feeling sorry for myself and then finding out my mom's BIL (step-father's brother) went into Hospice - he is in his 60's. That qualifies for the learned part as well. When that happens I should look and see what I can do for someone else, that always makes me feel better.
Good afternoon, well it's been quite a Mother's Day for sure...started of visiting elderly Aunt who lives in next town for coffee, before you knew it, I had everything but the kitchen sink...my mom had given her a new umbrella for picnic table..matches color of new siding..Aunt Muriel gave me 3 garbage bags full of plants..(guess who gardened most of the day...Jeff and Greg spent mid-morning putting gazebo together..few swear words..need a new one apparently..next year...Kyle helped me break up firepit as I'm going to purchase metal fireplace this week..Jeff is paying for it as a Mother's day gift...going for supper at Greg's shortly and my gift is there..Kyle was excited about some kind of crocodile that moves in water..would be great for my pond he said..who knows...I might just come home with another pet....so it will shortly be time to wash up and go enjoy myself...
Worse thing...it would be hard to find a 'worse thing' but guess if I had to choose one it would be falling over the fireplace bricks as we were moving them to new location...
What did I learn..boys had a great time teasing mom..they can't figure out why I would want a gazebo when I don't sit still for 5 minutes at a time...they kept telling me to sit and walk to them ...they caught me about 10 times doing something...next year they said they are purchasing a chaise lounge and hand-cuff's...so guess I learnt that I must try and relax/rest and enjoy at least part of the day rather than working myself into a tissie...
Hope you are enjoying your day as well...will post the sketch of my family that I told you about in a previous post..and photo's of the day...
Betty, the gazebo looks like it will be wonderful!
Today I learned that lazy Sunday afternoons are good for starting flats of seeds. Two down and one to go. Other seeds will be direct sown. (Mother's Day is not meaningful to me... my mother is gone along with all her generation, and I have no children.)
Best thing was a neighbor came and helped me take off, clean, and re-position the bagger for my riding mower. The man that assembled it 2 weeks ago (when the mower was new) had mis-aligned it.
Worst thing was seeing photos my neighbor had of our creek flooding across the road a few years back. The flood waters were within 5-6 feet of my house and the road was impassable for 2-3 days.
wow what lovely property!
Betty- thank you for your comment. Your pond and fountain are great!
Best thing: bought a new mattress, sheets and comforter set!
Worst thing: spending the money - LOL
Learned: It is nice to have a friend with a truck :)
Worse thing: Not a great Mother's day. Part of it could of been my fault! Just want to get treated special without asking for it!
Best thing: DH saw a deer coming up the back hill steps!
What I learned:To take better care of my seedlings and repot them sooner.
Betty thanks for sharing your day with us. That sunshine looks heavenly!
You all have a good day.
Yesterday:
Best: seeing my Mom's face when I peeked in her back window and surprised her for Mother's Day!
Worst: Driving in the rain down to Williamsburg to surprise my Mom.
What I learned: That if you are given a nice new garden wagon for Mother's Day, if immediately becomes the new, fun taxi for all the neighbor kids!
Wonder..guess the most important thing we can all learn, is we have a choice each and every day to make it a sunshine day or not!!! It is indeed the little things that such a day is created....
Bluekat76..when we are going through such terrible times in our lives, it's hard to believe others are worse off..maybe a trip to cancer ward, seniors home etc. would bring us back to reality..just as you've said..some are much worse off....it's so great that you have a DG friend so close by that you can visit together..new bedding, isn't it so much more exciting to shop for bedding than in days of old where sheeting was 'hospital white'..
My girlfriends husband made a wallunit that I was suppose to pick up over weekend..but one son had his dirtbike in his truck and the other had his in shop for repairs, the avalanche was tooo small..so I was unable to pick the trio unit up..maybe this week...miss my truck...
Darius...I should have direct seeded as well..every year I try to start pods and never turns out..I've either not watered/too much water or put outside for sun much toooo early...next year I'll not bother...be your garden is lovely...it was nice of your neighbor to help out..do you have a large yard to cut? that's my meditation time...I so enjoy it...might enjoy it better if I had riding lawn mower though...from the sounds of it, you have a river running through your property..what I wouldn't give for the same....
Have a great day...
Went scuba diving, again! Had so much fun will probably do it again tonight....water temp is 84F....thimble jellyfish in certain areas but we did not get stung this time...'tis the season!!!
Caribblue...any photo's to share..no wonder you had a great day....
