Dave's Garden T-Shirts are now for sale

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

Dave -

I have ordered their t-shirts as a customer for gifts for my kids for Christmas. As kid's shirts go they were just fine and dandy and they are still wearing them a year and a half later. (altho the son has almost outgrown his) They stood up to teenager wear and tear. I also bought some long sleeve T's for myself and they have held up very well. Granted I don't wear alot of T's in the winter and certainly none during the summer. The imprint is still clear as day on all of the shirts I've bought (kids and my own).

My 2 copper for what it's worth.

SF Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

I have 2 T-shirts from CafePress. Both are good quality, and have gone through many washings and the stencils are just as good now as when I initially received them. This is the area of CafePress from which I ordered: http://www.cafepress.com/absolutelyig I thought CP was a lot of different businesses under one umbrella. I had no idea that the base website determined the quality (or lack thereof) of the merchandise.

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

Well, really only you can say if their quality is up to your standards, Dave. You can go to their site and choose the "Make Your Own Stuff" tab at the top, upload your logo and order yourself one t-shirt. Then you would be able to really look at it, feel it, wash it, see if the logo comes out the way you want it to look, and then you'll *know* whether it's something you would feel comfortable putting your name on, or not.

Since there's no minimum to order, might be the way to go to see if it's a viable option for you or not.

That's what I'm going to do. I just set this up:

http://www.cafepress.com/davesgarden

I'll customize a shirt and order it and see how it looks.

What about print on back shirt?!?

Yes, I haven't customized any yet, except this one:

Oh hey Dave, I just noticed this when I was looking at your "store" - there's a "thickness meter" for the fabric thickness on the different kinds of shirts. So, if you prefer a heftier fabric, you can look through and see which one is thicker vs. thinner. That might make a difference in whether you like the shirt or not.

Jasper Co., MO(Zone 6b)

Okay I found it and it good enough to know easy to find me! lol...

I has this company order before in Jan. 2007 which it's good...

Oh,...they have custom Mugs, too. : )

A mug, a Tshirt, a sweatshirt...yay!!!

SF Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

Dave, I noticed that the thickness of most of your shirts is set at 3. The thickness of the two shirts I ordered were set at 4. You might want to set the thickness up at least one notch before you order. Also, are you going to have "You can find me at DavesGarden.com" on the back of each item just like you do on the one you customized? I sure hope so!

I hope this works out. If it does, we get EVERYTHING, including WOMEN'S TEES!! YAY!!

I can just picture putting the 5" x 3" oval DG sticker on my car and having people wonder which "country" it represents.

faeden, I'll see about changing the thickness. And yes, I'll have all the shirts be the same (front and back)

SF Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

KEWL!! I can't wait to put in a BIIIIGGGG order!

When will you let the general populace of DG know about this?

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

faeden, I think Dave is still in the "checking it out" stage. Give him a chance to get the merchandise himself and see if it meets with his approval! ;)

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

This is exciting! I missed out on the last batch!

Edit: I know, be patient.....LOL, I'll try!

Tucson, AZ(Zone 9a)

It is very exciting, so...we must all be patient and wait :)

SF Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

I don't think my question is unrealistic, and I think it's up to Dave to answer it. I'm quite aware of the processes involved.

Tucson, AZ(Zone 9a)

Not saying the question was unrealistic, I was just commenting on the excitement about being patient and waiting for the final product. Questions are a good thing.

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Well I know I will be in big trouble if all the things posted are offered. lol

faeden, she's right. I'm going to order some of the stuff myself and check it out. If it passes the "Dave Test" (meaning I approve) then I'll set it all up and "officially" post it. I'm hoping that the merchandise is good!! We'll see.

best,
dave

SF Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

Piggy - don't worry - my comment wasn't directed toward you. You were very kind.

Dave - Thanks anyway. I thought you might be able to say, "I should get my shirt in XX days, and if it passes muster I should be able to get the CP site officially up within YY days after that." I was looking for an estimate.

Monroe, LA(Zone 8a)

Did I jump the gun on this? I just placed an order and it seemed to go through. I started somewhere in the middle of this thread instead of reading from top to bottom. My mom always told me it was bad to jump in the middle of a conversation! Will it be shipped or not? Should I have waited for you Dave?

BTW Dave, I just watched the video of the latest news report on davesgarden.com. The story was very well done and I learned a couple of things about Dave's that I didn't know. Two thumbs up!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Dave, the bumper sticker needs a bit of plumping up. Maybe the shirt "back" statement would show up better and give your website addy. Just a thought.
I love having choices of colors for sure. Love the pink and blue shirts. As I get older the beige and gray really make me feel old and washed out! I need color! LOL!
I will be awaiting your decision on the quality.....

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

You are now officially part of the test market, Zuluqueen504. LOL You'll have to tell Dave what you think of the quality of your order when it comes in. :-)

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

Zulu, what video are you referring to? Got a link? And a great big, "Hi, y'all!" from a transplanted cajun!

SF Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

I think it was this one: http://www.kbtx.com/home/headlines/8022742.html Wonderful!

Dave was on TV in his home area.

Monroe, LA(Zone 8a)

Marylyn_TX my mom is going give me a great big "I told you so" when I tell here what I did! She's always accusing me on not reading instructions all the way through (I hate it when she's right). I just got excited when I saw the store link!

Hi Kywoods! I'm a transplant too! Katrina moved me from New Orleans to Monroe and while I'm still in the state I'm sure you know that in some ways it's like moving to another planet! I try to explain to other folks that North Louisiana is very different from South Louisiana and New Orleans is different from both of them!

Yes faeden, that's the one. Thanks!

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

Yep, I'm from New Orleans, too! Jefferson Parish. Mom is from Delacroix Island and Dad is from Upper Ninth Ward. We moved from N.O. to Kansas when I was five, and here to KY when I was ten.

My t-shirts have shipped (I ordered 2)! That was fast!

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Zuluqueen, my brother took me to stay with friends in New Orleans when I was 14 (he worked for Delta Airlines). I had to laugh when they told me they had cousins in Baton Rouge who had accents! LOL They were talking to a California born and bred girl who felt like she was in another country.

And your mother is right! :-)

Monroe, LA(Zone 8a)

That's funny about the accents. Up here in Northeast Louisiana where I live now, the accent is more like Alabama or Georgia. People across the country think everybody in Louisiana talks like folks in New Orleans or Lafayette but it's just not true! In New Orleans, the 9th Ward and St. Bernard Parish accent is called a "Yat" (like where y'at?). It almost sounds like a heavy Brooklyn accent. They say "terlet" (toilet) and "berled" (boiled) just like Archie Bunker!

And yeah, Mama was right. I do go too fast! She's not the only one who tells me to slow down and take a breath! But at least I'll have 2 Dave's t-shirts! Ha! Ha!

Lilesville, NC(Zone 7b)

ZuluQueen,

My dads says berled and terlet as well. We are originally from Ohio and moved to NC about 10 yrs or so ago....we really had to get used to some of the words they use here. Like Diddy for daddy...ill for being upset and not being sick. There is many more i just can't think of them right now.

Scottsdale, AZ(Zone 9b)

I'm putting in a BIG order this weekend for sure! Yay!

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

But, we're supposed to wait for Dave to see if he approves first, aren't we???

Monroe, LA(Zone 8a)

Yeah, don't follow my example. I'm the dork who didn't read the entire thread and jumped the gun!

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

LOL, we N'awlins girls like fun stuff and we don't like to wait for it!

I once saw a t-shirt at Cracker Barrel that said "GRITS--Girls Raised In The South". I missed out, 'cause I didn't buy one that day!

Yes, I think we're supposed to wait. Also, the quality of the shirts will probably be of higher quality after he's had a chance to see what he gets. Right now almost all of the shirts are between level 1 and level 3 thickness; the shirts I bought on CafePress and like a lot are a level 4 thickness. I believe this is a major difference.

Another issue is that Dave hasn't added the back graphics to all of the items yet. Look here for what the back will look like and what David said:

http://davesgarden.com/forums/p.php?pid=3638462

I'm waiting until it's all in place.

Kywoods, if I ever see one of those I'm buying 4 on the spot, one each for me, my mom and my two sisters!

I hope the shirts I get look ok. I'll let you guys know my two cents when I get them. I'm don't really care though. I just like collecting t-shirts that mean something to me. I rarely wear them in public. I'm not really a t-shirt kind of girl. I got the largest size they had because I plan to where these while I'm gardening. Since this is a first printing and they'll be rare maybe they'll be worth big bucks one day! Kind of like the one-side coins that get minted by mistake. Hah!
