TY ecrane! I got confuzzled in all of that above! ;)
Some direction on the subscription cost...
Dave, Thanks for the answer :) I would imagine it does cost a lot to maintain the site. Glad that you and Terry are getting something for your work and time.
Hope things are well with you and your family.
Blessings,
Kathy
Dave graciously added 3 mos to us who renewed at the 25.00 cost.
THANKS dave!
I'm feeling so lucky! More months added out of the goodness of Dave's kind heart! Whee! I'll admit, before subscribing, when I kept turning up DG pages in web searches, I scoffed at the "subscription-required forums." Nothing could be that valuable, thought I. Then along came one little gift subscription from a very considerate gal, and I've paid that forward several times over and hope to do so for future DGers.
Dave, if something costs $8,000 I want it to come with a transmission and steering wheel..... You do a fantastic job of keeping this place running; always considerate, prompt, helpful, and thinking of the next feature to roll out that will benefit many of the growing masses gathered here. I think the subscription fee is very reasonable for the many features offered and creative payment plans for those on limited budgets will always be welcome. Two green thumbs up for DG, always.
Thanks Dave for the reduction. I have been a member since Oct 2000. I used the free forums once in a while. Now, close to retirement, I have more time to search forums. I subscribed last month. I now find I'm online every night, reading the posts that I did not have access to before. I am getting more than my money's worth from the fee. Keep up the good work, running this website.
Eileen
I didn't even realize that there had been a rate reduction until I stumbled into this forum discussion. I have been a member for just one month, joining at the $25 rate. It was the first internet group I had ever joined, but I was using up my free plant file searches and wanting more. I've been singing Dave's Garden to all my gardening friends and acquaintances ever since. I do think that having the yearly rate at $19.95 will be more attractive to most. As for me, thank you for the additional time. And most of all, thanks to Dave and all the members that have worked hard and devoted so many hours to make this such a grand and valuable site.
Barbara
Thank you for bringing the subscription rate down to $19.95, Dave. :)
I love Badseed's idea:
Would it be possible to flag the accounts that are paying $5 every couple of months and give them the rest of the year once they hit the annual fee of $20? If I saw someone consistently paying every other month, that would tell me they really want to be here but possibly can't afford it.
I think Mistymeadows has a great one, too:
why don't you offer first time subscribers the $15 annual fee with the understanding that it would be $25 after that?
It could just be coined "a special introductory rate for new subscribers only".
If people subscribing under new usernames is of concern, I'm sure you have a way to watch for new subs coming from identical IP addresses. Your bag of tricks is bottomless, I think. ;)
