Many of the sellers have brick and mortor stores as well - that is why I can find them on GW - Hirt and Sandusky Nursery are the two that come to mind.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Pix, that scabiosa is enormous! I know the yellow is bigger than the pink and blue anyway, but WOW. you'll have to let me know how you like Verbascum "Caribbean Crush". I've had my eye on it.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks pix. Looks like they're 3 or 4 inch pots, correct? Maybe I'll try eBay for some annuals.

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

hi guys,
hope everyone had a good weekend. i was away visiting my family near the syracuse, ny area this past weekend. sorry for no capitals but i'm doing one handed typing cause i have to protect the keyboard from a little computer virus. don't worry you can't catch it - i included a photo of the virus so you can be on the lookout. he attacks the outside not the hard drive! great weekend for gardening and i missed it but i had a great weekend for making family relationships stronger. grammyphoeb

Now that's a virus I wouldn't mind having around.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Cute!

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

grammy, I'd trade in the entire computer for that virus...what a cutie!

Victor,

I got many wonderful annuals last year and so far, healthy ones this year from rich54022. Last year I got gorgeous coral double impatiens - was the highlight of my patio - this year they only have lavender or something. I got SPV from them and lantana and vanilla magilla perilla and black-eyed-susan vine. That's all I can think of but they were all great, and this year they have different stuff so I'm ordering different stuff. Torrenia (?) in two different blues and bacopa and so on. I'd recommend them.

I got a Caribbean Crush from someone new (to me) because they had it - something like PerfectPlants or something, grower in FL. First, I didn't know them, second, totally different climate, third, bad correspondence, but I bought anyway! Good-size plants, arrived healthy. I'm justplaneray on eBay if you want to look at my reviews.

I've bought from HirtsGardens and from bulbmart - aren't they the same business? The bulbs were fine, the plants were fine, they don't stand out in my mind particularly but I didn't know anything then; it was pre-DG! LOL - there's pre-DG and then DG.

Hope that helps a little.

Phoeb, I've never seen a cuter virus!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

We broke a record here yesterday in Maine.....81 degrees in April!!!!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

That's gotta feel better than last week :-)

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Time to break out the summer clothes! Everything's budding out here. It's explosion time. Yippieeeee!

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

I've been outside working two mornings in a row during my grandson's nap. Cleaned the leaves out of two flower beds and one more to go. My hands are so dirty - yea!!!! Everything is coming up under the leaves - it's so exciting to uncover! Washed my containers yesterday morning when it was in the 80's. Gotta go the baby is awake from his nap.

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Thanks all. I worked on those beds again today, got edging in and connected the Harry Lauder and Mock Orange bed. No time to take pictures. It started raining on me before I was completely done.

Pixie, I love Man on Fire, but didn't buy it this year.
I tore out all the yellow scabiosa last year. Really reseeded and wasn't yellow enough to show up.
I ordered stainless steel and a few other aconitums. No pink tho.

Verbascum, Carribean Crush. Dull colors. I was disppointed. Someone suggested just planting it with matching colors. Good advice not taken yet.

Grammy, what a cutie. I had a virus myself last week :))

I've already thrown a pair of last years gloves away. Worked them to death.

The garden is now cleaned up! All I need to do is use some of the transplant grass and compost the rest.

Hi... I just met Andy and Sarah today.... it was really fun! Sarah has a great personality and has great colors... really really nice dog!!!!!
Andy gave me so many plants... I learned a lot from him today... got daylillies - even fancy ones! fancy irises, dahlias and so much more... he is really very generous... I saw the Ponytail plant... I was speachless with the size and how small is the container... really cool... it was great!!!!

I told him that I was going to tell everyone that I met him.... before anyone else!!!!! he is the 2nd DGarden person I meet!!!!!! and saturday I am meeting another one!!!!!!! hummmm we will post pictures...

the rose garden is coming along!!!! tons of work still to do... sunday should be a productive day!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Lucky you Kassia! I'm not surprised that Andy and Sarah were so great. I haven't met anyone from DG yet. Can you imagine? When's our Round Up?

Harper

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Kassia, what a great day you had!

It's been raining since I got up this morn. 3 3/10'' so far. All of it has soaked in. I repotted things yesterday and sowed more seeds. I have a stack of to do things and need to cut up two deer roasts for jerky. Yet, here I sit :))

My accomplishments so far.

Kassia, you are too kind. Actually, it was you that brought out the best in me. You are a pleasure. Sarah already misses you.
Billy, that is a NICE plant stand.

Billy,

I like everyone else fell in love with th hype about "Caribbean Crush", but my color scheme is muted enough that I think it will work. I am no longer expecting it to look like the pictures.

Suddenly every plant in my garden has jump started itself! The oriental persimmon planted last summer is starting to leaf out as are the bush cherries and even the chinquapin is showing tiny leaves. The thimble berry and the gooseberry and the blackberries are leafing quite nicely. Those pesty strawberries are poking up all over the place in spite of trying to give them all away! The mystery bush/tree that came with the bush cherries but is much, much bigger is leafing out - the blueberries are almost blooming! I think (fingers crossed) that the very bottom leaves of the tea camilla survived - the top is brown and dead - but it might have made it afterall. The saturn peach planted last month is budding, too. However there has been not a single sprout from the asparagas! Ah! The enigma of Spring!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Exactly! 10 days ago I was dispairing of spring ever arriving - now all my perennials are gushing forth . . . and I wanted to divide so many of them. I think I will run out of time. Way to much to do and not enough time. Potted up about 250 seedlings today. (couldn't play outside - too much rain.)

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Haven't inspected the grounds (ha ha!) in a couple days... I'll have to go out while it's not raining. I bought a few new perennials but of course I have no clue where to put them in terms of bloom time, color, height, etc.

I was out watering some new plantings yesterday and my resident killdeer were having a fit. The whole broken wing dance, singing different songs than usual. Sure enough, in their nest from last year, in the stones by my pool, one perfect killdeer egg. they don't start to incubate them until all 4 are laid.

Nice picture, Jan.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Must've been a good fit! What a beautiful egg.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

that's so cute Gram... we used to have one here in the parking lot... it was so interesting to see the eggs right in the open.... the kildeers are so cute.... so entretaining....

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Nice shot Gram! I like how they are speckled, neat little birds aren't they?
