I saw a thread in the Perennials forum started by bettygail, inquiring about a cut flower forum, and found it a bit surprising we do not have such a forum yet. With so many great forums integrating home decor, design, arts, and crafts with our gardens, it almost seems odd to me now (even though I had'nt thought of it myself before) that there is none for cut flowers.

I am starting to plant flowers for cutting and would really enjoy the forum.
I would like to see this type of forum!
I would enjoy this type of forum too.
A forum like this would be great with all of the creative people we have around here! Right now I just cut a bunch of the same thing and stick it in a vase and call it a day.......LOL
tetleytuna....that is the fun of this.....none of us is a professional.....when company comes, I run out and cut anything possible for the house....my first post was a handful of petunias I took from a hanging basket...stuck them in a glass or jar...
The fun of having a forum like this is to get ideas on what we can find on the front porch or growing in the garden to bring in the house....these petunias lasted so long in the jar that they actually rooted and I started another pot of them....

I will LOVE looking at all the arrangements you people submit!
I can't believe that you are in zone 6 and have that many beautiful tulips and lilacs blooming....
I'm in zone 5 and the redbuds, dogwoods, tulips and a bunch other flowers are blooming like crazy even with the cold freeze.
Yeah...no kidding! Your zone 6 must be a lot different than my arctic zone 6!! I just have little leaf buds *starting* on my lilacs!
And to stay on topic...I would LOVE LOVE LOVE a forum for flower arranging! Right now, my daughter looks at my "attempts" and says, "Ummm....it's cool, but is it *supposed* to look like that?" ARGH!
Michelle
uh oh!!!! pictures please from pepper23!!!
I'm in zone 5-5b. and about the only thing I have blooming is bulbs. I will go pick a few before it gets too dark, and put some in a vase. I love making flower designs, so I would be very interested in whatever it will be called "cut flower forum' .
I did accidently cut off a lilac branch that had a bloom bud, so brought it into the house to see what it would look like being forced.

Here's some I posted back in 2005.
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/519429/
I have pics of dogwoods and others on camera but not on computer. All of my tulips are now blooming. I have several bunching kinds along with regular tulips. They are all gorgeous!
It's been a crazy year here, everything growing early, then a big freeze in January, started growing again, then snow in March, started growing again bigtime (80's), now a hard freeze coming. Poor plants don't know what to do.
My daffodils, crocus, and hyacinths had freeze damage and then burned up in the heat. The primulas and tulips got real crispy, too. The bluebells are almost finished and the redbuds and forsythias are done. It all went so fast!
My hostas are in full leaf, and most of the trees are leafing out. I have one iris blooming and buds on 3 other types of iris. Peonies are 18" tall with 1" buds. There's gonna be a lot of damage here. But we all have a good excuse to go out and cut some great bouquets, so hopefully we will all be back on here tomorrow with some more pics.
Hopefully they won't be our final bouquets of the season!

One feature I like about photographing bouquets is that it documents what is blooming at the same time in my gardens. That can be helpful when planning beds for the next year...some great combinations can be made right in the landscape.
Of course, with the crazy weather this year, the timing is way off for some of my flowers. I have one lilac bouquet with bleeding hearts in it. Don't remember ever doing that before.
Should we post more pics here or wait and see if we have an official bouquet forum? I have lots of pics from the past.
Post them, please!!!! If we get a forum you can post again.....we all love pictures.....those are gorgeous daffodils!!!!!
It gives all of us so many ideas!!!
Bettygail, your snaps are great. I don't have the patience to stake them properly...but maybe your pics will inspire me to try harder!
I have rounded up, downsized, and readied some pics to share, but out of time for today. I will try to post some tomorrow.

Lin nicknamed me gessiegail....so I asked for a user id change.....

As we still don't have a thread, I thought I'd look for some advice feedback from any of you experts :)
Scroll to the bottom to see my latest variations on my original attempts.

This is way to great for me as the ideas and advice are being taken in.....I love new ways of thinking. I am one of the few people at church who keep a lot growing; consequently the phone rarely stops ringing for flowers needed in one way or the other in the congregation. On my way home this afternoon, i got another call from the church asking me to bring flowers to them in the morning for a new "mom and dad"....I love to be able to do this!!!!!
All your lovely posts are parts of plants I hadn't thought of!!

I saw your pretty snaps a couple of weeks ago....glad you are here....you have lots you can post, Patty....never saw a yard so full of bloom all year around!!!
These gorgeous Snapdragons ya'll in Texas are posting have me green with envy! I've started my own red, pink, and cherry Rocket snaps from seed, and the babies look good out there in the cold frame. These huge, voluminous bouquets of snaps and stock are wonderful. It always amazes me how fast snaps start pointing straight up when in the vase.
phughes, I love vases of all one kind of flower at the same height- those are both stunning.
