Wish I could remember the name of this one. There is a morning glory in the photo, too.

Beautiful!

ByndeweedBeth, your tulip is likely Shirley, great combo!

Winchester, KY(Zone 6a)

Lovely! I've never seen tulips and morning glories blooming at the same time, how cool!

Livermore, CA(Zone 9b)

Aren't they proud ? lol ; )

They look lush Tedtootsie, and proud! It looks like you have had rain there, something we're lacking, it's getting very dry.

Electra in the hosta bed doesn't mind the dry, a dwarf double and honey scented. The colour really is that stark.

The full title of this one is T. saxatilis Bakeri group 'Lilac Wonder'

ooooh lilac wonder is a beauty, so delicate! - I wish I could send our rain your way - it was sunny and 80 on Friday, rain all this week - but the plants are loving the sun/rain/sun/rain right now, so I guess I can't complain. I'm dumping sluggo around the hostas & strawberries like a MANIAC ! So far, so good.

jmorth - I also planted Princess Irene and Mickey Mouse (see my photo earlier on this board). What a beautiful combination.

Divernon, IL(Zone 5b)

Ga.Lo,
Nice pic yourself...I see we got them from the same place around the same time.
The ones I get from there during their last cut sale almost always are used for forcing for as often as not, by then, the weather forbids comfortable planting here. However, I got so many Irene's this time some had to go outside as well and fortunately have done fine.

I LUV the 'Princes Irenes'. And 'New Design' is to die for!

Haven't seen the tulip/morning glory 'effect' either, but it looks stunning. I wonder if it could work in zone 6, Gem?

W., I read in one of the catalogs that tulip 'Lilac Wonder' combines will with narcissus 'Hawera'-- I wonder if that's so? any thoughts?

Sedum, Thanks for posting the pretty pics of the OHG tulips. I have lusted after them in the catalog and I'm am thrilled to 'know' someone who grows them!

pardalinum, you always have the most interesting bulbs growing in your garden! I think your garden and the Willamette Valley must be heaven in springtime (lily bloom time, too.)

Gem, do you think the red/yellow Fosteriana tulips will bloom with little early yellow daffs? I think it would be a sweet combination if the timing would work.

I am going out to check on my (potted) tulips. The sun is shining today and it's warming up so perhaps I will have some blooms to post later. In the meantime I can't resist posting a pic of my 'Purple Prince' tulip on our easter 'hummingbird cake'. (Forgive me! LOL)

Tabasco, the Lilac Wonder perhaps would combine well with Hawera if they flower at the same time, as I don't have Hawera I don't know.

They make their foliage over winter, it spreads by running stolons underground as well as on the surface, it makes loops above the ground. The leaves are very broad and bright, glossy green.

I brought mine in because it was so cold and I wanted to enjoy them. Here is one of them.

Tabasco, that Easter cake is really neat. I have really enjoyed everyones tulip pictures. I am going to post the last of my tulips as my season is winding down here. This is a picture of my lily bed where I have tulips all down one side of it.

This is a group of red parrot tulips planted behind my shed, for want of room anywhere else in my garden! I thought I would use them for cutting but the stems are really short.

Another parrot tulip, forgot the name. Maybe it starts with an E? Jog my memory folks!

Ah yes that is it! So much for the E lol. Thanks!

Handsome tulips pard! Flaming Parrot is a real show off!

My Gavota have increased, with 2 stems and 3 on one. I seem to only have 5 and I'm sure I started with 10. These are doing well though.

Hi Red-- looks like it was a good day for visiting the tulip fields. Hope it didn't rain on you and your family! I haven't made it up there yet but hope to before they whack the tops off.

wallaby-- nice Gavota. I had that one at one time. About my hanging baskets, I've done red and yellow for several years and am thinking may a pink next year. Maybe Angelique. Whatever I choose will have to be short and double.

Livermore, CA(Zone 9b)

Par - it did get dark right when we pulled in.... uh oh we thought, but then it was nice & sunny so we lucked out !! It's perfect right now, all the tulips are just opening.

Cincinnati (Anderson, OH(Zone 6a)

pard--would you say your tulip pictured under Orange Parrot is Absalon? the coloring is slightly different but the markings are similar. In any case, both are beautiful tulips! I would love to have some of those 'antique' style tulips.

The Tulip Festival looks like fun! And those are three cuties, too!

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

No, I haven't purchased any antique tulips. I am guessing it came in a mix. Probably a cheap mix. lol. The petals are falling off today:(
