Hi RE: Buddleia Bicolor

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

What do you mean.................. IF IT WORKS ?????????
It will work..................
You girls are really very protective of your markers............ LOL

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Mark - The sun is soooooo hot in Florida, the marker will get the true test of permanence here in my yard! LOL! That's why I am cautious to say that it will work. LOL! I have tried everything except grease pencils (which was going to be my next option) until you sent me one of those aerospace markers. So far, I really like it!!! And ...... so far the markings are holding up to the scorching sun of Spring. Yay!!!! Whoo Hoo!!!

How's the gardens coming along? Any "new" lovelies in your gardens?

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 8b)

LOL..."step away from the marker".

Here in Texas, we are a mile from the sun, so it will be a true test here too.......if it doesn't work I want my money back hahaha

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Well if it doesnt work i will eat one for me dinner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Grease pencils????????????????? don't think i know them!! Of course the thing that will last longest of all (so i am told) is pencil..........

Rox...... that one made me roll about laughing too.........STEP AWAY FROM THE MARKER....................sounds like you have been watching too many police shows on TV Becky.

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Hows the Buddleja growing now Formidablelday?????????????????????????????????????

Mine has a few shoots growing on its one stick!!!!!!!!!

Hows the marker pen Rox and Becky??????????????

Mark

Mark - Hi! Good to see ya posting here again! How's the garden coming along. Loved all the photos you sent me! Anymore new ones to share?

And so far, so good ...... the ink from your marker is staying put on my plant markers and not fading out at all. Love it!!!! Thank you so very much for sharing such a wonderful garden item with me!!! Ya rock, Mark!!!! :-) :-) :-)

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Maggie

You organise it all in USA and i will buy the markers and ship them to one address!!
Hint Hint

Becky
Havent been on here for a little while, been busy in the garden, as you know.........
The garden is coming along quite well........ will send you some photos soon!!
I got you email about Lucky, and i didnt know what to say to you to make you feel better..... I am thinking about you though Becky!!!! I will write soon ok!

I am pleased the marker is holding up ok.............. Its the best test possible to try it where you live..... Maybe i should have a co-op for markers!!!! What do you think????
You are welcome for your marker honey.............. I am just pleased you like it.........
~Mark~

(Maggie) Jacksonvill, FL(Zone 9a)

I'll check into that. Thanks, Mark. Before I can pitch it, can you give me any idea of whether you could get a big discount from the mfgr/distributer. also, I know you've sent things across the pond. Do I contact any agency in particular re: Shipping "across the pond"?
Regards,

Maggie

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Maggie

I will look into what i can get the markers for.................. will let you know the price as soon as i know!!
Nooooo, we dont need to contact anyone about sending marker pens............ they will go through customs fine!! They are only pens afterall.........
To cut down on the cost of shipping to the states i will just send them all to one address............. then you can mail them to whoever wants them over there!! It will be MUCH cheaper doing it that way....... i know when i sent Becky one it cost me around £1.20 which is roughly $2.30.

Mark

(Maggie) Jacksonvill, FL(Zone 9a)

Thanks Mark. I don't know anything about shipping out of the country and customs fees. I was thinking if they weren't available in the U. S., it must be the price is prohibitive.

I have planted 2 kinds of Crocosmia and am waiting impatiently for the blooms.

Hi Formidable, Mark, Maggie, Becky and all!!
I went on a search for indellible markers and found some here in USA. They work great... You can get them at any Office Supply. It is the Sharpie, but the industrial version. It must be very similar to the Areospace pen. For the last few months I have tested them on every surface in the sun and rain, and they stay true.
By the way Formidable, how is your Buddleia coming along? My Tri-color hasn't bloomed yet, but it's getting there... There are 4 other Buds that are blooming already though.
:-D

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Deb
I know someone has has used those industrial markers by sharpie........ They are garbage!!!!! They lasted a little longer than the sharpie........ but were not that much of an improvement. That was on cedar wood and other plant stakes in zone 9a.
I would say there is no comparison between any sharpie and AEROSPACE!!!!
So there......... :-)

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 8b)

Hiya Mark! Glad you made time to say hi to your garden buds! LOL

I love the Aerospace marker, I would do a commercial for them for free!

Thanks again Mark! Are you ready for some of those red-leaved Cannas yet?

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Hiya Rox............
I love to say hi to all my garden buds every so often!!! Its raining hard so am not in the garden now....

Pleased that you love the Aerospace marker........ must mean its lasting longer than those darn sharpies!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe i should start a marker shipping business to a US associate. How you fixed????????

You are welcome sweetie................. Will maybe have some cannas later when i have finished the garden!! Thank you for offering though......

Don't forget, when your marker runs out, let me know, OK??

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 8b)

You should buy some and sell them and see how it goes, they are pretty amazing!

I'll let you know when it runs out.....but the next one...I pay you for it, okay?

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Hi Mark!
Didn't mean to ruffle your feathers sweetheart.., really the farthest thing from my mind!! Just that they work very well for me, on copper plant plates. You couldn't possibly buy enough to give them out to everyone on this thread anyway! I haven't received my areospace marker yet, so I have nothing to compare the industrial sharpie to. All I know is, the lettering hasn't faded on the copper surface.
Relax Tiger, you know I love ya!
:-P

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

I've used the industrial sharpies and they faded after about 6-7 months in the hot sun here in Florida. Now you can't read them at all. I've only used Mark's aerospace markers for a couple months, but so far I haven't seen any fading at all. Time will tell as summer and fall come and go. ;-)

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Rox
I may just do that........... but it costs a fortune to post them out seperately to the US!! But if anyone wants one and is willing to pay the postage too then they can buy one for sure.... i have a few still here!!
When yours runs out, then i will swap you for a canna....!!

Deb
You didn't ruffle my feathers honey........ I was just joking with you.
I didn't know you even wanted an aerospace marker Deb....... if you want one i will send you one!! D-mail me you address again. At least then you will realise that you can throw that horrid sharpie away!!! I haven't offered to give everyone on this thread a marker..... I only sent one originally to Becky to try and then Rox too, because shes sweet!
I am relaxed kitten......... love ya too!!!!

Becky
Trust me honey, your aerospace wont fade after 7 months.......... it will outlast a sharpie by at least 5 times!!!!! They are the best markers you can buy........

Hi Mark and Deb
My Buddleia has leafed out but still only about 3 inches high! Nice and healthy though. Do you think we will get flowers?

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Hi Formidable!
I think you will see blooms before fall comes. 2 of the 5 small budds I ordered about the same time are beginning to bud now. The Bi-colored one is smaller yet, but I do expect it to bloom before September.

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Hi Formidable............................... my Bud has come on leaps and bounds now........ its getting to be quite big!!!!! How is yours doing????????????????

Rochdale, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Hi Mr C
My Buddleia is really slow growing. It never flowered. Having said that potted it on when it came and its only been in the ground a short while so can't expect much. Did yours flower?

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Hiya

Nope, it didn't flower, but then it does say that they are slower growing than other buds!!

Hopefully next year we will get some flowers.................. can't wait! If it flowers will you post some pics for us pleaseeeeeeeeeee???

Mark

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo now that is pretty Deb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can't wait for mine to flower now...........

Rochdale, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Hiya Deb
Thanks for those pics. It looks so pretty. These will keep me going till next year when I can see them for real. They look really colourful. Were you pleased with them?

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes I really have enjoyed them.
I had purchased 5 different Budds.. They did very well.
The ones I had in front didn't make it this year... Very weird. They were larger plants when I bought them.. The new 5 I mentioned .. 4 out of 5 grew well and healthy.
Someone from UK had mailed me some seeds for "mixed butterfly bush", and I sowed the seeds last fall. Those plants are just as big as the rest, and have the most beautiful blooms. I have some more of the seeds if you want some formidable.

Great photograph with the butterfly Deb. Thank you for the offer of the seeds but my garden already has 4 buddleias and its not that big really so I had better not plant any more. I wish we had the same space as many people have in the USA.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

You're welcome!
Yeah, mine all need some good pruning now. It is very crowded here too. lol!
