hiya guys,
So let's all get together and raise a big WOOP! to Zephs.....lol. I do hope that all of you enjoy them and have many years of great flowers from these marvelous plants.
Can we now close this ?
I'm hoping that all who've sent envelopes are covered, and I want you all to know that the extra postage many of you sent helped 10 other DGer's who can't afford the postage to have some Zephs as well. This is also an annual part of the Zephyranthes giveaway. All of the extra postage is used to help those who cannot pay for such luxuries to actually have those luxuries. I personally would like to thank all of you who've made this year the best one yet for sharing these great flowers with our many friends here at Dave's. You've all been a part of something bigger than just getting the bulbs you asked for, and I, for one, think the whole lot of you are part of the reason that makes Dave's Garden such an incredibly special community of people.
Thank you all for your generosity,
don

I guess I will have to try next year Dr. Don. I never got a reply to my D-mail or posts, and I do not have your address.
Jason
Drdon, I somewhat agree with your assessment of great people of DG making your Zephyrantes give away a success, but let us not overlook the kind generous folks like you that offer their abundance to others for postage. What a lot of work that went into this, and I personally thank you from the bottom of my heart, as this is something that I have never grown before, and look forward to being able to share in the future with others. Bless you Drdon.
hiya defoecat!
Great to see you
It's one of those things that I do once a season (along with a few others on other forums) just to see what truly wonderful and generous folks we have here at Dave's. Yes, it is indeed a bit of work digging and filling orders, but the real benefit of this is that so many of you are just so doggone generous with your postage that you allow me to send stuff off to DG members who couldn't possibly afford to do this. I thank you, my friend for being as generous as you were with your postage as I was able to send almost a dozen folks some too this year thanks to members like you. I've always believed that gardens were a thing where a nurturing human spirit came face to face with nature. I've never been proved wrong here at DG, as so many of you share of your abundance as well. There are many here in this place who just don't have the capabilities to do these kinds of things, and when folks, such as you all here in this giveaway have shown, there is truly a community of sharing here. I don't differentiate between stamps and envelopes and Zephs. I just recycle the envelopes, use the spare stamps and send off some more without really thinking about the work.
I've been a member here at DG for some time now and have yet to find anything other than an environment of free and giving people. I aspire to be one of those members that others think kindly of as I do as I please with their extra postage....lol. Other members do indeed benefit from you guys is situations like the annual Zeph giveaway. I'm just jazzed that these marvelous plants have been so doggone good to me that I can share them with others who'll get a kick out of growing them as well. I know you'll be one of those folks who'll be giving Zephs away soon yourself. I admire people like you.
best to you always,
don
hiya goldeneagleone,
nice to meet you!
They are truly worth waiting for and I assure you that next season you'll probably have five or six people offering you some. I do this on a first come- first served kind of basis and have always shared as many as I could each year. Next year I hope to be able to offer more than just 25 folks some Zephs, but I'll bet you'll be watching the bulb forum a little more closely from now on.....lol.
The very best to you and your gardens, and I do hope to be able to send you some next season,
don
Hi Don ...
Well, I couldn't let this close without adding my 2 cents. LOL I just wanted to thank you extra big ... as I'm totally blind and am * really * looking forward to mine popping out. I've never seen them before ... at least not that I am aware of ... and I'm just so excited! It's such a thrill to see each new flower and plant come to life in my own little piece of heaven. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity to experience something new in my garden. I've had many DG'ers share, also, and it's such a wonderful experience to have a touch of each new friend in my garden. :-)
Drdon, I remember each and every plant that was given to me by a DG friend. They are special. I have many that were bought at big box stores, and it just isn't the same. No friendship attached to them. I smile when I see something growning that has been gifted to me by a fellow nature/flower lover. Thanks again. If I have any to share in the future, it will bring me much pleasure, as I can remember the start came from Drdon.
Thanks again, DrDon. I planted mine in the 5 huge Mexican pots
that are on my daughter's patio, and put blue petunias in the pots too.
I didn't tell her what they are but won't she be pleasantly surprised !
She sits out there in her wheelchair to get some sun and can see
the pots from her windows. Thank you so much.
I have pictures somewhere....ahhhhhh!
Did want to thank drdon again, I started 2 other types of zephranthes and some habranthus this year, but the candidas waaaay outbloomed the others. Thank you again so very much!
Hi drdon,
7 out of the bulbs lived and bloomed, so pretty. I was wondering since I am in zone 5 how do I store these thru the winter months?
Thanks Connie
