I was wondering what the butterfly weed plant as a whole looked like. Thank you for posting these pictures. Seeing the whole plant helps me visualize where I can place these in my border.

Cordele,

Here's the flowerbed that orange Butterfly Weed is in. It's on the far right of the bed. All that orange is the Butterfly Weed (it's next to the Lavender).

Cordele,

If you're interested in planting a Milkweed, which is a 'relative' of the BF Weed, here's one look of 'Soulmate', so you can get an idea of what it will look like in your garden.

Great for the Monarch BF's and the host plant for their 'babies'. I have it in the same bed at the other end.

Another look at Crocosmia 'Lucifer'. The Hummingbirds will sometimes sit on the stems for a perch. I try to have some other perches for them to be able to sit around 'their' flowers.

A pic of some of my potted containers last year.

The 3 potted plants that are in front and to the left are different Salvias that bloom later.

Edited to add...

The tomato cage in the last pot in front to the left is not for a tomato plant. I added it for a Salvia plant in case the Hummers (songbirds wanted to use it too last Summer). As the Salvia grew bigger and taller, the cage disappeared.

Marilynbeth.................you must have the most managed and biggest garden I have ever seen............those salvias and even the butterfly plant which we have down here seem to be prettier than 'our butterfly plants;

Gail,

Thanks for your nice comments!

We don't have a big garden and/or big yard - it's 68" wide by 110" (or 115") long and that's including the house that sits on it. We also have a side entry for our driveway (so that take's away gardening space).

It's definitely not managed. LOL, I wish!

Salvia 'Navajo Pink'.

Picked this up at a local store (a very large food/non food - one stop shopping store) last Summer. It was in an 8 or 10 inch pot and I didn't know if it was hardy for my zone, so I placed it into a 14" pot on the patio. When I found this Salvia, there was only one pot and only this color of Salvia left.

Beautiful!

Gail,

Here's a Milkweed that is likely to be hardy in your garden, 'Silky Red'. It's not in mine.

The purple flowers around it are Verbena Bonariensis.
