I would have agreed but got an email from Craigs user cursing me out this morning. From an ad as simple as this!

You posted the ? re: tv repair? No reply there from loonie.

Replies don't show up on the ad posting at Craig's List. They have forums, but those are in a different area of the site.

Wow, I ran across this in our local CL services area -- I know the guy's last name is probably Gross, but it sure makes for a funny sounding ad!

Did I ever post this link for you? About the guy who found his roommate on CL, with unexpected consequences? It's a funny read.

There was a big controversy about CL allowing ads for animals at all. A couple of sicko guys obtained cats from people who had ads on the local CL list. Then 3 tortured, mutilated and killed cats were found. Yeah, one was somehow traced back to a CL ad. The authorities eventually found out who those sickos were and arrested them. One of the two had at the time lived across the street from a friend of mine. Too bad there is no death penalty for that kind of thing. But I wouldn't want to sell or give away a pet like that through an ad. You never know!

thanks andidandi!

Wow, that roommate story is something else! And the last sentence of the article....Well, he's certainly brave.

Craigs list will start charging $25 per job ad now on Oct 15th. Could it be the other forums won't be far behind....

They have charged for jobs for some time now. That's how they make money. The other areas will probably remain free. The bulk of the site is free.

gardenwife - Yeah, that guy should write a screenplay.

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

andidandi, well they don't charge in Houston. It's posted on the add an ad page that a charge will begin this month on the 15th.

You guys did hear about the robber who used Craig's List to mask his escape from an armored truck robbery, right? Smart guy!

Clever but in the end . . . . do you think he will get caught?

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Well, with authorities working with Craig's List to trace the original post back to its originator's IP address, they might. If he posted from a library computer, for instance, you'd think his library account would have been used to login for internet access (at least that's how it works at our library). However, if he used a public computer with no kind of login required, like in a hotel lobby, they'll reach a dead end on the electronic trail.

It may vary, but at least you've got jobs worth charging for in your community. That may put you well ahead of the game in this crisis.

I could swear that this same idea was the plot of a film that I was watching the other night, although half asleep. I wish I could remember what it was.
