Show me your feeders!...Part 2....

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

We had a small snow storm here Sun-Mon and as usual, the feeder was a-flutter with activity.
Little woodpecker even came to eat.

The Bewick's Wren is the particular one I have here in North Texas! I get some Carolinas too, but these little ones live here all year.

I absolutely adore wrens of all kinds.....A wee pair made a nest in my cow skull that I have hanging on my back porch. Such curious little critters... :) Great photo, Deb.. :)

Thanks everyone for the suggestions on placing my feeders. I guess I will be trying different locations until I find what works best. Doesn't look like I had any visitors today at any of the feeders. Hopefully soon.

Deb - I just love that photo of the little Kinglet! How cute! Are you taking your photos through your bedroom window? If you are, the photos are chyrstal clear. Also am enjoying the jays and other birds you've been able to photograph. That wren is a cute photo, too! You get a really nice selection of birds from the ones in your pictures. I wonder if I will get very many birds since it isn't cold here?

Pixie - Your photos are great, too! Loved the photo of the morning dove! How funny!!!! lol

Christie - I love the rocks that you have in your bird bath. Is it all one piece or did you add the rocks to it?

In my backyard, right near all my new bird feeders, I have a very small waterfall pond, 1 small pond with a fountain floating in it, and then I have another small still pond that the birds keep drinking from. Go figure that they would like the one that does NOT have moving water. I also bought a large plastic dish (that sits under a pot to collect draining water) and put water in that as well and put it in the mulched where the 4X4 post is.

Marin, CA(Zone 9b)

beckygardener; I chose that bath, discovered it was too deep and put the river rocks in. Then I discovered the little birds wouldn't use it, so I replaced it with a shallow plate and pebbles. (see picture) Now everybody uses it!

I added a pluot and 5-way pear tree too, so the little ones can sit on the branches to preen and hide. If they like the fruit, they are welcome to eat it too. After all, we are all children of the earth, and my mother instinct tells me to feed anybody smaller than me!

Christie - I think your bird bath is awesome! I may pick up some pebbles for the dish I have on the ground.

Love the bird in flight photo! Nice color contrasts!

Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

mrs_colla, I agree, your yard and home are lovely! Are you experiencing the same cold temps we're getting here in AZ? What part of CA are you in? Your little bird photo is very beautiful!

bsavage, it is unbelievable here, nights in the 20ies, days in the 40ies.
Lost ALL my Brugmansias, mush all the way to the ground, citrus has damage, but not too visible now, orchard fruit is lovin' it!!!

I am North CA, about 40mins from San Fran

Your yard and pictures are great! Feeders don't need to have birds at them. Just share what you have and what kind of birds are showing up for you.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

LOL! Sheila - I have a custom-made feeder setup. No birds. LOL

Sorry, I just couldn't resist. I kind of feel the same way about hummingbirds. I've done everything I can to entice them to my yard. No takers! So .... maybe there is something about my yard that birds don't like!?

Now now Becky. Its just that your plants need to mature more for the hummies. The birds will come a lot quicker.
Was your last photo the way you left it set up or did you change it?

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Christi, your yard and all are positively enchanted!

Nice to see you here!

This morning a pretty good sized flock of Cedar Waxwings flew through here. Not such good shots.. but at least I got a few, lol.

Sheila, look out more are on the way!

Debnes, Oh my, what pretty birds! I never had such pretty birds, very unusual to see for me!
You must be quick on the shutter; it still is a good picture!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Nice shot Debnes! I can't greet them this week, back to work! :-(( Maybe DH will get a few if he sees them.

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

Great photos here - and, Christie, I went to your website and looked at all your pictures . . . your yard is stunning and your home is lovely.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Thank you Christi!
I have a few more...
Mind ya, this is a flock of CWW on my back fence.. I am taking these pictures from my (closed) window glass, as usual. I think the fence is about 30+ feet away.

Cool Sheila!! I think they like fruit a lot.. Were your Beauty Berries still there? They seem to like picking things right off of the plants.. Thistle, berries, etc..

Okay here, bear with me, lol...
I picked out some of the many Cedar Waxwings from the above pic so we could get a better look at them>>

Pell - I switched up my feeders on two separate posts/poles. (See photo.) Do I need to switch the feeders around again?

I have another bird for you superiors to name; I took the photo in Scottsdale Arizona 2 days ago.

Nothing as pretty as your birds debnes!

Here's the pole with other feeders.

Lots of feeders, no birds. :-(

Do you suppose I don't have birds at my feeders because of this bird sitting in the vacant lot right next to my yard. I see him ALL the time. I believe it is a hawk? Sorry the photo is not sharper. I don't have a very good zoom on my camera!

Deb - Those birds are beautiful. I can not believe the photos you are getting through the window! Lucky you to have a nice-sized "clean" picture window. I have screens in my windows (because of mesquitos) and my photos would never look anywhere near as good as yours do! Awesome!
