Great pics Deb!!
Show me your feeders!...Part 2....
Marilyn, Thanks!
I got the Cherries at Wild Bird Center.. She finally started carrying them again. I really need to find a place that sells them for less. Until then, and through winter I don't want to be caught without them. Robin hasn't found them yet, but you will see when they do. Just a matter of days. Mocks love the mealies, so I put them on the tray also. I put some for OCWarbler and Mock snags a few of those too, lol.
Ha ha birdscrazy. Great Crow pics... (crownuts) lol. I never see those here! Sure they are here.. I just don't see. Is that Sparrow eating mealies?? The Sparrows here don't touch them, they like the seed better. Is that weird?
Ya , it is eating the mealworms , but that pic was taken in the baby birds season, so actually what was happening the parents were coming for a bunch of worms to feed their babies ( that is what I usally do in summer, supply every body and their mother with the worms over here..lol) and since they are so busy and in such of rush they eat worms then too. In other seasons I come to find out sparrows dont care so much for worms, that is true even here.
I am enjoying all the bird pics! I love watching them, in the Spring we have one that perchs on the utility pole and jumps straight up and floats gently down over and over. Anyone else seeing this behavior? I thought it might be a mating dance of sorts.
I had not thought of feeding cherries, my MIL had cherry trees and birds just flocked to them when they were just ripe.

Bluegrass,
Look up the Brown Creeper, that sounds a lot like their habits. Here is a picture of one from the web. They are small also.

Sheila, sorry I didn't make myself clear. The bird that does this is a mockingbird. I have a few brown creepers here. I really enjoy watching the little nuthatches go down my trees upside down! It is so comical.
Oh Nuthatches, we have them in our area but I've never seen one in my yard. I'd be so excited to see one!
I hope you all don't mind but I'm going to start Part 3 of this thread, its getting a little slow.
Please go here. Thanks!

bluegrass, sounds like the Mock is trying to catch flying bugs around the pole. Scissortails do that too and it is so cool to watch! Just add music...
Great pic Christie! I'll never tire of TT's!
Don't know if you saw it but we;ve started a part 3 to this thread. Link is 2 replies before yours. :-)
Too too cute Christi!! ...
Such a sweet little Titmouse MC.
I took quite a few pics today, but they are still in the DH's camera. Show and tell later.
It has been a while for the feeder thread, but I just found a great by at Home Depot this weekend. They have a lot of their feeders marked way down getting ready for new stock I suppose. I got one of the metal squirrel proof feeders that is usually close to $30 for $10!!! Now is the time of year to get the bargains there.
Thanks Sheila, '
I will have to check that out next time I go..(which is about every other day), lol!

Anyone having trouble with squirrels and their bird feeders, I strongly suggest the Pole System that Wild Birds Unlimited sells, and also to remember while you should not put your feeder out in a open area, when you place the feeder, you must make sure its far enough away from tree branches so squirrels cannot leap from their and bypass the Pole System's baffle. I put Sunflower hearts in my feeder, a additional pole system arm for my thistle sock and place my sunflower/millet/corn mix scattered on the ground for the groundfeeders. A suet basket or twoo, or three in a tree is also highly recommended. Enjoy the birds all!
Feeders should be put within 15 ft. or so of cover so the birds have some place to dive into when a hawk comes. :-)
me thinks we need to start a new thread!
That is the pole system I use & I highly recommend it!
This one's an ancient thread! We've moved on to here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1139981/
