Coffee Time 2007

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Who else is off tomorrow?

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Not I. It's a holiday, but I volunteered (at time and a half).

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

I'm off to work, probably plowing too.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I'm off. Also called retired. Down side is Friday no longer holds the excitement of TGIF and we don't get weekends off.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

I'm working too. I'm hoping to be offered a new job tomorrow too. The office I'm training right now has asked me several times to come work for them. Let's see if they offer something worth taking!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Good luck! Actually it's your talent and not luck that will get you the job! We're all "rooting" for you. GO ANITA GO!

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

I work for the state of NY, so it is indeed a holiday for me. I'm cleaning out my humongous (sp?) walk-in closet, which I am very grateful to have, but which takes a 3 day week-end to get thru. It's where I store all of my Xmas stuff also, so Xmas in, everything else out to get sorted, folded, cleaned, sent to Goodwill, trashed, etc. We have a winter storm warning, so it's a good day to get stuck in the closet.

Anita, good luck tomorrow (fingers crossed X)

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

This looks like a good week to clean closets. It's a good feeling to be done with them.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Good luck(talent) Anita, didn't I recall you working for (some relative) or was it Dave's relative????

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Dave has relatives too?

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Sure - haven't you ever seen his 3 month old photos of Aunt12 or Cousin119?

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

You know, I don't even know if I have off tomorrow. Guess I better find out. No matter. I work at home. The only downside to that is if we get snowed in, I still have to go to work. No excuses.

Anita, good luck tomorrow.

Gram, how's the closet look about now? I was daydreaming about a walk-in closet just this afternoon. My closet is large, but not deep. Wish it was a walk-in. It would be such a great place to hide.

Harper

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks everyone.

By the way, I had spoken about mice in the attic awhile back. I had purchased a RatZapper - and if anyone has a problem with mice, this thing is great! I never had to lay a finger on the critter!! It's red light blinks if there is anything in the trap and all I had to do was empty it into a plastic bag. No finger snapping traps or blood and guts!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

How does it work Anita?

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I wonder, how it would work for a neighbor?

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Now pirl, you'd have to get a WAY big one LOL

harper, this closet is like 16x17'. so with the 8' ceiling it holds 2,176 cu. ft. of 'stuff' LOL. and it was STUFFED. I have hanger racks on one side and shelving on the other 3. this is pretty much my attic, linen closet, master closet, all rolled into one. at least I can walk in now. there were still boxes of stuff from when we moved in 4 yrs ago. nothing important (obviously). DH saves every electronic thing we've ever had...answering machines, cable boxes, old phones. I have whole wardrobes in more than one size.

I'd rather be playing with my seeds :-(

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Anita, I hope it works out!!! You deserve to work for someone sane. (Is that why Al thought it was my relative?) Good luck!

Al, I don't have relatives. I was a test tube baby with anonymous sperm & egg donors. Although there once was a petri dish I referred to as cousin 119.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Wow, Gram. That's bigger than my living room! LOL! There could be a hundred hiding places in there. Can I come play hide and seek? My DH saves everything too. It drives me nuts. He has notebooks from high school. Does he ever refer to them? No. Did he enjoy high school? No. I don't get it. He's got me, though. He says he'll start getting rid of his stuff when I start getting rid of mine. Oh well. Guess they'll stay.

Dave, cousin 119, eh? Bet he was a laugh a minute.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Harper, I've had offers to rent my closet LOL. it has access to the master bath...that's all I need (rolling eyes at ceiling). I had my niece living with me in my old house while she was finishing nursing school. I love the kid but she almost burned my house down frying potatoes while she was on the phone. broke everything we owned (ouch!) I just wanted her to finish school so bad. when she finally moved out her brother wanted to move in with his girlfriend and their baby. that's when we took in the welcome mat and said 'ENOUGH!'. my son had moved back in twice already before that...once just before his first child was born and again with the second. After that we helped him put a down payment on a house LOL.

Dave, I think you still have relatives. In fact, could be the Queen of England for all you know, or Paris Hilton or even Simon Cowell.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Dave - so you really are only just a test then. I must have been thinking back to when you and Anita were married.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks everyone - so far so good. I'll know more by the end of the week. If it were up to the Office Administrator, I'd start today! She is not anticipating any problems.

Gosh Dave, remember when we were married?? LOL!!

Gram, the ratzapper works great. I caught another last night. I'm still grossed out by the whole critter in my house thing. Here's the website if you are interested... http://www.ratzapper.com/

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

That rat zapper looks pretty cool. Good idea. Pirl, you think your neighbor could fit in there? he he.

Gram, I don't blame you. Sometimes ya gotta have your space all to yourself.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Guess I'd need to supersize my rat zapper order.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

It's like judge, jury and executioner all in one!

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

except the last meal is just a ruse to get them in the chamber....

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Anita,
I thought we were still married. Will the new job pay a lot better?

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

no, just a bit more. It's the other positives that I'm looking forward to...no psychotic boss, 20 minutes from home and therefore less gas and wear and tear on my car.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I had two psychotic bosses - both misogynists, too!

Let us know when we can all celebrate the good news.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Sounds good, Anita. positive vibes headed your way ++++ ->

can you use that rat zapper outside? I was just reading a tip in a gardening catalog that traps are the best way to get rid of voles. I'll check out the web site.

Anita, don't tell me you and Dave split up...it'll break my heart LOL

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Never grams!
Thanks for the good vibes...I spoke with the new potential boss today and I feel positive. I should know by the end of the week! Yippee!!!

I almost feel sorry for the woman - her life revolves around work, no friends, in love with a married man... Almost is the key word, because then she does something that is so out in left field or just plain mean...or screws up and blames it on me. I found that one out, because she isn't aware that I've made friends with some of the clients and they tell me about it! The moment you leave the room, you're a target.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Anita, maybe you had more use for that rat zapper than you realized. I wouldn't waste too much pity on someone like that. There's obviously a reason she has no friends. And it's her choice to stay with a married man. You DESERVE better!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

The part that sounds horrible to work around is the "just plain mean" spirit. That's hard to take. You know you have all of us rooting for you.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks everyone! By the way grams..she's not with the married man, just pining away over him.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Gram,
We didn't split up. Why do you think I'm so interested in her getting a better paying job?

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Cute!

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Dave, I assumed you had your best interests at heart LOL

look what the ice has done to my beautiful clump of river birch. I'm counting on a thaw tomorrow.

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

Wow that is droopy .
reminds me of some one I + + + +
That bit was censored.

grampapa
Will that straighten it self up with a thaw ?
We don`t get frosts here, so I wouldn’t know.

Boxford, MA(Zone 6a)

Grampapa, they'll bounce right back. How do I know? B/c they are taking over the banks of my pond!!!! When we get heavy wet snow, they squash right over and I'll think "whoo-hoo! More sun for my garden!" THEN they straighten right back! They're made of rubber, I swear. I cut them, and for every cut, I get 15 sprouts! (BTW, they are like rubber to saw, too!)

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Well...I got a call today to come in before work on Monday and go over paperwork!! I think that means I've got it! I can't wait to give notice on Tuesday!! So Dave, do I get to keep some of this paycheck now?

Thanks for all the good luck sent my way.

The Birch we had growing up was indescructible too...I wouldn't worry too much!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Anita, same split. 25% for you, 75% for me and the kids.

Seriously, good luck! No one could be more deserving.
