Thanks for that tip Janet--I'm off to bug my "UpNorthMan" friend for some of those bulbs--lol

His pic in the PlantFiles is really nice. ;)

Susan, if you put the co-op thread on watch it will show any updates on your home page like any other watched thread. I guess you're excited......

You think she is, wallaby? lol

With the creation of Nyvoices bloomingbulb co-op are we going to pass on the pacific callas? Just wondering before I start shopping around....

Winchester, KY(Zone 6a)

I think I like the bloomingbulb selection better after looking till my eyes are crossed, lol. The reds they offer are on my want list (thanks to you Janet!). Anita is also game for adding some things other than callas, and I noticed they have some great red hardy glads, tuberoses, and begonias I REALLY want. The price works out really good too. Ok, time to go scan their site some more, lol.

Citra, FL(Zone 9a)

well...back to the beginning...lol
Personally, I think the callas should be a co-op on their own, as there is such huge interest.

I had a thread regarding BB callas too, a few days ago. So again, if we go with them, perhaps two regional co-ops.

It's getting confusing.

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Still chance to do a Pacific calla co-op if the other fills up and more people want just callas? Pacific could get some rare beauties in, they said they were trying to.....

For info on some varieties I found this, click on the pic and you will see muliplication rates and notes. Cameo colour isn't quite right but it's good for info. Cameo doesn't make many flowers, but it has gorgeous leaves. Majestic Red is very disease resistant.

I'm interested in Pacific calla coop--are you doing it Janet?

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Deb I can't do it from here, wish I could! I may be able to get some through a helper, say no more! Besides, there are a lot of people wanting those purples and new ones.

Citra, FL(Zone 9a)

I'm still open...let's let NYVOICES see what she's doing with her new coop thread.

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

That link isn't working, did on preview. Try this, go to 'crop information' then 'zantedeschia' 'variety listing', if this doesn't work try putting in the site then go to the 'order' page first.

west Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I'm sure someone will let me know about this, huh? ;0)

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

I found all these links to growers in small print at the bottom of a foreign language page! Trouble is they don't deal with the general public, these are growers and wholesalers, this one has some DIFFERENT ones on, some without names yet too! Look at the size of Eclipse.

(just thought you all would like the viewing)

Citra, FL(Zone 9a)

Go look at the co-ops forum; NYVOICES has started a query thread, dmj.

These may be useful for some who haven't seen them, variety photos on the left

I voiced my opinion 4paws--I'd like to see the stuff from the Pacific place. They have a lot of stuff wholesale not on their retail part.

Wichita, KS(Zone 6a)

Their wholesale side has some nice callas, but how would we a co-op(non retailers) buy wholesale?

west Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

bulk buy I think is all you have to do--they weren't asking for nursery license number that I noticed anyways.

Wichita, KS(Zone 6a)

dmj1218 - you might know is one "bulbs count trays" does that me one kind? 300 hundred bulbs would be alot for one kind. http://www.pacificcallas.com/commercialgrowers.htm

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

ghia, that's for the smallest size. They are mentioning quantities of 50, but that states for 1.5-1.75" no tray minimums.

Size Bulbs per tray
1 - 1 1/4" 300
1 1/4 - 1 1/2" 200
1 1/2 - 1 3/4" No tray minimums.
Immediate Shipment!
Call for details.
1 3/4 - 2" 125
2 - 2 1/4" 80
2 1/4 - 2 1/2" 65
2 1/2 - 3" 50
3" and UP 25

Citra, FL(Zone 9a)

(Sorry, dmj; I guess I was looking at too many threads...)

From that link, it looks like 200 or 300 depending on size, but the third size has no minimum.

Just to bring this back closer to focus, if we were still looking at Pacific, I'm copying the email from them to gemini_sage:

Thank you very much for your request. We are familiar with the Dave's Garden website.
In fact, we even advertised on it a few times.

We are able to provide you with one large bulk order. Best delivery time would be around April 2007 as we will have more in stock. Pricing
for a quantity of around 500-750 (10-14 colors x 50) is $1.48 each tuber. The size on the tubers is 1.5-1.75". You will have to put 3 bulbs
of this size in a 6" pot. (2 would be the low end). 1 bulb in a 5" Pot and 3-4 bulbs in a 8" pot.

We will also have the black schwarzwalder available, imported from Holland. Bulb size on this is 2" and larger and pricing is $4.24 each tuber with larger orders.
We are also trying to acquire colors like "Red Sox" , "Renoir" and other brand new colors for 2007.

I hope this information was helpful. If you need anything else, please let me know.

Thanks again for contacting us.

Peter Rotteveel
Pacific Callas

These are the varieties to select from
http://www.callalilyshop.pacificcallas.com/allvarieties.htm

I hope this isn't redundant. I should post it over on the coop forum.

Citra, FL(Zone 9a)

So that price is for the smallest.

I am not overly excited by the choices offered by Pacific. I think Blooming Bulb is better. Their sizes are listed as 14 - 18 cm, which seems to be a decent size, and the prices are about $2 or less at the 50 count rate. Chianti is $3 something.

Wichita, KS(Zone 6a)

I guess the question to Peter is the choices retail or wholesale? Their "live" help desk is not alive at this time!

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

They seem to have different sections from different growers wholesale, these are the New Zealand ones

http://www.pacificcallas.com/GrowerVarieties.htm

Californian callas

http://www.pacificcallas.com/Varieties.htm

Just read your post 4paws, there are two sizes smaller, and they are better not too old as they flower better.

Citra, FL(Zone 9a)

It's my understanding that the choices are those on the page the link takes you to.
I'm moving this over to the Co-op forum. I'm getting mixed up with similar threads.
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/682272/

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

I got the wholesale lists from going to the varieties link on this page which you get by clicking on the wholesale link on the top right, but they did state they will have more different ones in. Perhaps they will sell you anything they have!

http://www.pacificcallas.com/

Citra, FL(Zone 9a)

Ok, so smaller is better, as gemini was pointing out earlier.
I posted a question on the co-op thread - to see how many want to go with PC.
I think there is enough interest in both for BB and PC coops to do well.
:-)

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Would it be a good idea to ask them if it is the wholesale list you will be ordering from. If you click on any of the pics on the wholesale list you get the info with bulb sizes

http://www.pacificcallas.com/CallalilyRegalbulbs.htm

west Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I think they next to largest size would be best in my opinion (this size 2 1/2 - 3" 50) but that's my opinion. You need to at least get the size for each one that they recommend as blooming sized. I like the Pacific place better myself.

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Just thought I would point out this on the Californian callas wholesale section

We are proud to offer premium quality Callafornia Callas®
directly from Golden State Bulb Growers. Callafornia Calla®
bulbs are exclusively seed grown and are guaranteed to never be more than 2 years old. The bulbs have been carefully protected against virus exposure and are bred to produce numerous flowers and leaves, making a full, vigorous plant. Varieties are specifically bred for small, medium and large pot production as well as for cut flower, landscape and garden use.

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

If you look at the retail prices they are set at a much higher price, it looks like this would be classed as wholesale.

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Janet, the links you provided to "look" at were incredible! Where are they? Can we order from them, or are they just overseas only? They seemed to have them all!
JanetS

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Janet, as above, click on the link at the top right corner which says 'Wholesale Calla lily bulbs'

Then, the tab at the top which says 'varieties'.

You will see the California Callas, and in a box at the left the new Zealand varieties link. A box at the right flashes to the retail link.

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Oh, thanks Janet...just a little slow on some of these sites..LOL..especially that "late" at night or should I say "early" in the morning...

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Yep, early it was, nearly 4am!

The site isn'y very obvious for navigation, but there are many more varieties on offer wholesale.

Neon Amour in reality is hot hot pink and wavy, Ursula in Chile has it, much nicer than the pic.

I am just drooling over all of the pictures on this site...they are wonderful!!! Is this one we are considering for a coop? I have been trying to follow all of the threads, but didn't notice if this was one they were looking at closely, or is it a sister company or something of the Pacific one.

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

It is the one 4paws in considering for a co-op. That is still Pacific Callas, just their wholesale side which a co-op should be able to deal with, the retail side doesn't give a choice of sizes and are nearly twice the price for 50 of a variety. That is why I think you should be looking at the wholesale pics, this is after all a wholesale effort.

I think some questions are being asked to Pacific to find out more, and the list will be updated anyway when they get their new varieties sorted.

More eye candy!! Here's a website I found last year in my research...... http://www.sandegroup.nl/gallerycontent.html. This is the one where I got all of my wishlist from....lol. I fogot I had found this until I wondered where the contents of my wish list had come from.

Whoa! Look at this one I just found on a link from the other link! I've never seen so many different varities!! If only we could find these beauties!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.cnb.nl/zantedeschia/english/catalogue/start.htm
