Oh Yes!!! thank you very much, I am excited to see if this mikweed will do well for me, it is such a beautiful one.
You are a sweetheart.
Josephine.
First Frost/freeze
Your welcome Josephine!
deb.....I'm still waiting for those Fairy Duster seeds to dry a bit....I'll let you know when I send ya some.. :)
Melanie
I understand Mel,
I am doing the same with a few i have to send too.
:-)
Deb, sorry I am just now getting on and thanking you for the seeds!! That was sweet of you to send them. Should I plant now, or in the spring?
Sylvia.....Like Debbie said, I have the plant you are wanting. I will give you plants when they come up in the spring instead of seed, that way they will bloom early next year.
Sorry I haven't been online much this weekend, we are doing a remodel on the family room. We took off popcorn ceiling and installing new lights, and I am painting the room and the fireplace too. I am looking forward to work tomorrow for the first time in a long time. I need to rest!! LOL!
Sheila,
Your welcome! Might as well wait till late winter to start them, I think. That's what I plan to do.
So glad your feeling better, and getting some new surroundings! Wtg girl!
Sheila I didnt know you were still on sick leave.... Yes thanks folr the plants
It's very warm and sticky here today. I've got 74 deg. on my front porch. We did get some nice rain yesterday and last night. We needed it too.

We got 1/3 of an inch here in The Piney Swamp. It's supposed to freeze over the weekend. I'm getting the sheets out to put over things, and of course as soon as the sun is out uncover them. At least it's messing with the garden.
I hear y'all about the crazy weather.. I think I have the back host beds (South side of house), ready, except for the poly I will put over the top. (pic below without clear poly)
The front I still have the new Yellow Brug blooming for the frist time, and the White Buddelija.. Figure to wrap those 2 girls with burlap should be alright with a few of those colorful fallings (leaves everywhere), tossed in. I was hoping to have some seed from the Brug, what do you guys think my chances are on that? I have Moonvine seeds out front that are still purple too. Suppose I should cover those pods for tonight and tomorrow.
This is what happens every year to this area in front where I keep herbs. The Rosemary is several years old, and Parsley never dies overwinter in this spot where all the leaves weave into the tender annual limbs.. Even on the North side, the herbs always come back! You can't see all of them in this pic, because the leaves covered them so well. Air is still allowed to flow through, it takes a lot of wet and time to make the leaves mushy. By then it's Spring again.
This little nitch in the Pink Hawthorn Shrubs is about 5' wide & 3' front-back. The leaves are 5-6"deep, guess you'd say a volunteer mulch job, I do nothing until Spring:-)
The local news said SA can expect a frost this Friday or so. Wonder if we will have one? I still have grape tomatoes producing on the vine. =) Course couldn't enjoy them all summer because of the heat and drought! Just now enjoying them.
Yes Nog, Thats the same one we expect here in Watauga/Keller tonight. Will let you know how cold it is..:-). They said Icy mix possible here tomorrow. Break out the flannel!
Great you finally got to eat some of your own tomatos. I'm thinking I will plant some in pots by Spring.. Maybe I can keep them from scorching somehow. Would love some Jalapenos and Garlic in a patch somewhere too.
I love those volunteer mulch jobs too, they work themselves in just right.
Isn't that cool Josephine? An invisible Someone was calling me out into the garden.. I saw I had a lot of that kind of help, now I try a lot more challenging things. Some things work, some don't..but I am totally enjoying the balance in all of it!
I was out doing some last minute wrapping about an hour ago, (about 5:30), and suddenly it felt like someone opened a very large refrigerator door. Temp is dropping quick, I hope you're all ready! I'm in the South end of Keller.
lol..still nothing here. About 70 right now...and the AC going... phew* BUT, the sky is getting darker and the wind is picking up. Plus I just saw a tiny bit of lightening....
Melanie
Just to add to the drama, we get a tornado warning before the front even gets here. I don't think this little area ever gets tornados because the hills keep us safe. But high winds and hail...oh yes!
yes Linda...I just heard that too! Yikes.....
It was 73 when I went to bed....45 and dropping this morning. Although I am happy it is cooling off, I am worried about the greenhouse heating. My heater hasn't been working as well as I'd like but I have no time to get another one today. I taped plastic to seal off the vents for now, moved all the plants to a spot where they should get heat for sure, and crossing my fingers.
Kim
It is 31 here this morning and raining, so no walking for me this morning. Nothing is frozen yet, I hope we won't have ice on the roads, that is allways so dangerous.
Josephine.
Kim I'm about 45 miles east of you and I've got 40 deg. on my front porch this morning. Not much precipitation here so far. I bought heat lamps at WM yesterday for my plant room. I wanted to buy one of those long heavy duty cords that has a place to screw a light bulb in the end to hang in plant room too but they were sold out. Our WM is just a little store.

It was 72° here at 8:06 this morning when I first turned the computer on. Right now it is 38°. Brrrr....
Hey Marylyn how in the world did you get that degrees sign by the 72?! How neat. =)
TxT: We were sweatin' last night to with the temp! Can't believe woke up and brrrrrrr! DH couldn't go up to work in Bastrop like he needed...they said up there they were having freezing rain this morning.
Hold down the Alt key and type 0176 on the keypad. °
Marylyn I tried it and nothing happened, what was supposed to happen?
When I left for lunch it was 75 -- just got back and it's 57! And dropping rapidly. I bought some new faucet covers, and have a pile of sheets and pillowcases ready for the plants. I only ask that I get home before any roads freeze!
You have to use the keypad, not the numbers at the top of the keyboard. It will bring up the degree sign. °
I am on a Mac, and I don't think it works on it.
I'm on a PC and it didn't work for me, either.
Hold the Alt button down while you are pushing the rest of the numbers. It may not work for a Mac, though.
Cool! °
It works ! °°° Thanks, Marylyn.
It's snowing in North Richland Hills. Been snowing
off and on all day. The radio just said it will get down
to 22° tonight. Mamaaa !!!!!!!
36° outside right now. Ok. it worked.....
It doesnt work unless you have the side number keys.. All I have is top number keys on this cool laptop.. unless there is another key for that, I can't work the degree sign either.. I use * or a lower case o.
It's a blueeee Northern here... Whew! I put a thick cotton blankie over the rose bush outside my south window the birdies are gathering under it. Snackin on some seed, fruit mix.
I've got 30° on my front porch right now. Got everything covered and lights on the other plants. Birds are fed and the dogs are warm and cozy. I see the skies clearing back to the north so if the wind lays and it clears it will get very cold. Brrrrrrr!
Lin
Weather channel says it's 28° outside now. Brrrrrr. Getting ready for the long drive home from work, (usually about 50 to 60 minutes.) Glad I covered some things this morning before I left. I enclosed a section of porch w/ plastic and put a small heater out. The temperature was holding at 43° this morning, we'll see what it looks like tonight. I put up some shelves and have about 60 pots out there. I would hate to lose anything.
Debnes, love the birds!

29 degrees here at 6.15 I am sure it is going to get quite cold.
Deb those birds are really cute.
Josephine.

YES! Thanks!!!!
25 here and the hoop green house is holding up so far I just fear if it will work or not. After last two years the lime tree making it with my methods I tried a lot of stuff and just took cuttings... we will see..
