Firefox 2.0 is to be released today

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

I DO get that message if my computer has been asleep for awhile with Firefox on... I just hit refresh.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Jasmer, try shift+refresh. Also, make sure you have the latest version of 2. Click HELP > CHECK FOR UPDATES. Hope that helps. :)

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Well shoot, I was right clicking the Google Toolbar to check options and accidentally unchecked the Google Toolbar and it disappeared. So now how do I bring back the toolbar?

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Go back up to the toolbar area and right-click again. You can do this over the FILE, EDIT, VIEW, etc. links up top. Once you right-click, you'll see options, including Google Toolbar. Re-check it and it will be back for you.

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Well, I don't run a mac, have never used a mac, and don't plan to go get one. I don't use IE anymore either. It's great that you have a suggestion for jasmerr.......but what about me??? I feel so left out! :o( (Can you tell I'm throwing a temper tantrum? LOL)

Merrimac, WI(Zone 4b)

Thanks, I did check for updates and everthing is good. I was concerned when I saw the error message because the link on the DG home page is now missing. I thought maybe there was a bigger problem.

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Ta Da! Thanks gardenwife! I figured it would be a simple step but didn't know where to go.

Merrimac, WI(Zone 4b)

mgh,

Maybe it would help to re-install Firefox.

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

Downloaded and installed. the download only took about 15 minutes on my dial-up.

Problems, my Dave's Garden banners are gone. I'm not happy about that. I still have the Google tool bar, oh, hey, spell check - google wants to be capitalized. I want my banners back!!!!!

Merrimac, WI(Zone 4b)

Hmmmm...don't know why the banners are gone.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

MGH, didn't mean to ignore you. :) There are issues with 2.0 it freezing, yes, and it can be several things causing it. First, try looking at the forums at Mozillazine.org -- That's where the experts hang out. http://forums.mozillazine.org/ Search for 2.0 freezes.

Merrimac, WI(Zone 4b)

I had to re-install yesterday. Since downloading Firefox I have had problems with the xpcom_core.dll (don't ask, I only slightly know what it is!) Everything works fine now.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Kathleen, if you have the adblock extension installed, it may be blocking images from DG for some reason. Take a look under TOOLS > ADBLOCK > PREFERENCES and scroll down in the resulting list to see if davesgarden.com is on there. If it is, right-click on that line and choose "delete" then click the DONE button.

If you don't...Are the spaces where the graphics should be still there? Do you see the status bar at the bottom of your browser window indicating the page is "Done" loading, or does it indicate the page is still loading?

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

Everything is very white - no backgrounds on any page. No banners either.

Brimfield, MA(Zone 5a)

I just downloaded the link twice. All I got is a search engine screen and it's google. I'm not seeing anything about spell check... maybe I'll try it again later.

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Thank you, Kimberley! I will go there and poke around and see what I can find.

lafko06, you might not be seeing the spell check if you are spelling everything right. Try typing something in and spell it wrong.....you should see a red line under the misspelled word.

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

I believe that you have to opt for the Google "Tool Bar" ... it's there and I use it for every post....I have to....LOL

Hap

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

You mean you have to opt for the tool bar to have the spell check? I don't have the tool bar....but I have the spell check.

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

HUMMMM?

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Another question I have......does anyone else have a problem with Firefox opening itself up after you have minimized it? I find this very annoying.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Does it open when you've clicked a link in an e-mail, or just randomly? If the former, you can change its behavior in Firefox's settings.

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

just randomly........whenever I try to open another program. Sometimes when I go play a game on my pc or something like that, the FF window will open up over the top of the game.

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Kathleen, the other day I lost my banners, too.

Had to Shift+Reload (or Refresh for some). (Actually on my computer it is Control + Refresh.)

You might try that. It brought my banners back!

Banner Gnomes, Now what are we going too do?

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

Ok, I tried shift+reload, nothing. Then I tried control+reload, nothing. I have all the words, but there are no boundaries, no banners, no nuthin'. And it's not just DG, but all the sites that I regularly visit have suddenly taken on a clear white background and the banners are oddly absent or monochromatic. I seem to be missing the structure.

Do you have the Adblock menu item I mentioned, Kathleen?

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Kathleen, I believe what you're talking about is the same problem I had. Follow the instructions here and see if that doesn't help

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

Sorry, Kim, I wasn't blowing you off - no Adblock on my tool list.

Terry, I gave all their suggestions a try and even did a restart on the computer - still no background colors or banners. Just plain white. The spaces are there for what is missing.

Hmmm, I do live in Amish country. Maybe my computer has converted to the plain life.

Kathleen, I have no idea what's wrong then. I wonder if uninstalling and reinstalling would help. Maybe post your question over at the computer forum and tell them what all is happening, what all you've done and perhaps provide a screen shot of it also. Sorry, my suggestion didn't work :o(

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Do you have Norton Internet Security or some other internet security software installed? Can you view graphics and such at sites other than DG?

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

I have Norton, but I've had it forever. None of the sites have graphics. Just white. Kind of like outside. Maybe it's a January thing.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Norton could have updated...Might want to check to see if referrers are turned off.

HELP! I upgraded to Firefox, on Dave's advice, and I do have a few things like French spellcheck etc. installed in here, but my Firefox only speaks French! How can I fix this?

xxxxxxx, Carrie

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

There should be a little down arrow on the Google button on the search toolbar. There, click Options (or whatever the French equivalent of Options is, LOL). That will take you to the preferences page. Hope that helps! :)

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Oh, my Google's in French, is that why?

xxx, Carrie

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

When I click the down arrow by Google, it shows other search engines I could use. If yours is like that Carrie, go to tools (the 6th across the top)>options (the very last thing under tools) and across the top, click on the last picture, which is advanced (it looks liked a pronged washer to me) and under General (first tab), at the bottom is languages. Click on that to change your language.

Rocky Mount, VA(Zone 7a)

I did not think her language was all that bad.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

LOL Dyson! I guess I could of worded that a little better, huh? But then it wouldn't of given you the opportunity to put in a zinger!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

OK, I changed the language in Google, Certain other programs I deliberately have in French. (Word, for instance.) But now I have to accept or cancel things in French, I have to choisir un imprimeur to print and it runs out of papier! Too much French maintenant!

xxxxx, Carrie

Merrimac, WI(Zone 4b)

LOL! Language by immersion!!
