Sylvia' s Plant Moving party!

Dallas, TX

OHH I love you guys so much. If you guys were not there to help me get things orginized I dont know what I would have done. Pat you were really a trooper! ...after you gave them bus fare ... they still made me take them to the bus stop ... I had all six of those men in my car. We all could have gone to jail. My friend here at work told me that you are supposed to take them back where youy picked them up ... well I just learned laborers etiquette.lol I think I will call Jay(the one who spoke english) and have him give anothern fifteen dollars... they were worth it! ... they pick my old yard clean and I am going to need them or someone to get the new yard in shape. I am still very cripple and can not do very much myself.
I am at work and talk very much ... my boss is telling I am on his time... well you know how that goes ... my system is not up yet ... when it does I will post the few pictures I do have. Where is Dawn Sheila...didnt she take pics the first saturday?
Thanks for all your help I could not have done it with you.

West Central, WI(Zone 4a)

I hope that you'll be feeling better soon Sylvia. I can't imagine what you would have done without the kindess of DGers. A year ago, Kelly came over to help me get hostas in the ground. My back had been bothering me so much that I just could not have gotten it all done without her. (And to think, our mothers were so worried about us meeting in person for the first time.....having met on the internet after all. We could have been weird or something!) LOL

Marie

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Hey Sylvia, We wouldn't have let you do it by yourself! Yes, Dawn did take pictures on the first weekend, but she said she hadn't gotten the ones from the Dallas swap downloaded and posted yet! LOL! So I don't look for the moving party ones too soon.
Is your phone service not on yet? Maybe you need to try another plug in other than that one in the dinning room, maybe it was disconnected. Hope you get on line soon.
Sheila

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Marie,
How right they were,,,,LOL We are weird! Anyway, I can come over this weekend if you need to get things in yet.

Sylvia,
I really hope you're feeling better soon. Terrible being in pain like that.

West Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Kelly....you are too sweet. Thanks for the offer, but I hope that by this weekend I'll have it all finished. I've just got some bulbs left. I won't be doing anything outside this afternoon however. Yesterday we had 67, and today it's in the mid 30's with a windchill in the 20's. That wind cuts right through you and takes your breath away. No wonder I'm feeling all achey. What a bummer that it's dark by 5:00 since they took away our day-light savings time.

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Marie,
Really windy here today too,,,but you have it coming off the lake if it's coming from that direction it's got to be Really cold and bone chilling. Was gorgeous yesterday! Bet you got a lot done.

Sylvia,
Hope you're felling a bit better? Heck, I hope you're online now at home.

Dallas, TX

I dont know when things will get back to normal for me. I cant move without my thighs hurting...i am still walking with a cane and it just wears me out. i am so depressed because I cant get outside ... I go back to the doctors tommorrow. will talk to you then.

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Sylvia,

You'll be in my T & P.

Kelly

Dallas, TX

thanks kelly... I got this vertigo thing going on now too... my groin is not as painful but still sore....when this vertigo pass I am putting down this cane and start walking wide legged. One of the tech saw me in the elevators and i was telling how this cane is wearing me out. She told me my cane was too short and and I was about to break my back ... said she had been watching me for days and wanted to say something but she didnt know me.She took my cane adjusted it up so high, i could use it as a crutch. lol gave me an inservice in the parking lot .... and I took off like a bat out of h***! I never knew there was a science for walking with a cane! I am gonna have juanita take a picture of me walking with the cane, a site to behold........

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Sylvia,

ooo, that's no fun. I'm glad you got the cane adjusted so it's easier on your back. I'm surprised they didn't teach you all of that at the hospital. Fools! At least you're getting around a bit better, that's great to hear.

Kelly

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I noticed it was awful short when I was at your place, but I thought you were having problems standing up straight and wanted it that way. Glad someone who knew what to do helped you.

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Sylvia, d-mail me if you want the names on the couple of hosta markers my husband found in the trailer this week when we were hauling cattle. We had to cancel our trip to College Station due to ranch priorities (cattle and hay cutting), but hope we can all make it next time.

I hope you are feeling better. I am glad I was there, though I was not sure what just the two of us were going to do with the Ross Street guys. Glad I had a little cash on hand to give them for bus fare home. I love your new place and now that I have looked at a map, I know what part of Dallas you are in. Take care and get well.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

I drove there & still can't tell you 'what part of Dallas' she is in!!!:~;

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Ditto here, but I have the address! I don't plan on going to Dallas again for a while, that traffic is getting worse this week. They are closing I-30 for the weekend, and then 183 is being shutdown due to a large truck ripping off some of the overpass. They think that will take a month to repair! Nascar is this weekend to boot! Nope...not going through Dallas for a while.
Pat, I was glad I brought donuts and juice, or they may not have stayed around as long as they did.

Nevada, TX(Zone 8a)

Sylvia,
I am glad to hear that you are all moved, thanks much to everyone that helped! I am also soooo glad to hear you had your cane adjusted and are feeling a little better. You have been in my thoughts and prayers.
Sorry it has taken so long to check in, I have burning the candle at both ends, doing a little part time work in addition to my regular job. That and two kids haven't left me with much time.

Thank you for the pictures, they are really neat, I wish I could have been there.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh my, I told you I didn't have makeup on! If you look close in the pictures, you can see there wasn't room to move for pots at our feet! She had every inch of that courtyard planted or covered with pots!
We should have turned the camera on Dawn too!

Nevada, TX(Zone 8a)

Sheila, my DD took one picture of my back, and I wasn't going to post that! LOL!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL!!
Sylvia has her phone line repaired now, and said she should be online Monday, I guess someone is hooking up her computer for her this weekend. I know from experience you can't crawl around on the floor doing that with the pain she is having. It will be nice to have her posting again.

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Great pics,,,thanks for posting.

Ummmm did anyone tell Greg that where the shovel is, there's no tree to dig??? LOL Maybe that was after a real Mimosa????

Linda,
Love the *juice* glass.

Sylvia,
You look plum tuckered out. You better be resting now. How in the world did anyone get into the court yard??? Seems like 1 person would have had to start a planter line to get them all out of there before you all could commence to digging. It really looks nice though. You did a wonderful job. Just think, a hopefully? bigger yard to play in now. Maybe a lil house warming present is in the works for Spring. Can't find anything now, it's all tucked away for winter.

Glad you'll be back online soon.

Kelly

Dallas, TX

yes... my phone line is repaired ...but ... where is the Geek? I got message from his wife today that he threw away my phone number that he received with the check, because he thought it was the old number ... now really! so he is supposed to come tonight.
Sheila thats why I bought in the Ross Street Gang ... (per Pat. I love the name she gave those guys...one did speak english. lol) to get those pots out the way ...so we could move around.
Kelly you need to Show Oz the pictures, he never believed I had 200 Hosta pot out there.. plus all the other perennials out there. I need to take a pic of my back yard now so you guys can see the wave of pots back there.
Anyway guys I am feeling so much better now. ...every morning I expierence something new. ...this morning I took my cane to the kitchen to make coffee .. feed the cats ... went to the bath room and did not remember my cane until I got ready to get off the Hopper! LOL ... rather graphic ... but you get the point! :)

Dallas, TX

p.s. you guys just saw what I looked like up there ... after five days of no Retin-a. lol
all kinds of things are going on in this house... the door bell rang for 20 minutes sunday night... I was so scared ... I started to call the police. I tried to knock it of the wall but couldnt reach it ... then I ran around to the kitchen to see if I could see anyone at the door ... no one was there... I am on this cane all the time ... thinking maybe I could use it for a weapon ... I sat there sobbing and terrified. Sedric's ears were sticking straight up ... Sara went in hidding ... I went to look out the window again... no one there... Could the door bell go off like that? I finally got the courage to open the door and press the door bell ... finally it stopped. ...last night I decided (first time) to cook my steak ... the stove started ticking ... I ignored that ... then the fire alarm went off .. I looked at it and said no way was I going to mess with that .... I cooked my steak and let it ring.
The woman before me lived here for fifteen years before she died ... I was told she died in the hospital ... I am begining to wonder....

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Robert said he had heard of wedging a toothpick in a doorbell to make it ring constantly. I suppose it could be broken off so it wouldn't show. It sounds like a kid playing games with the doorbell. Probably saw you with the cane and being a regular little smart &#%! Maybe you'll catch him next time!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

It may have been the humidity that made the connection with the doorbell keep ringing, or it may stick sometimes. Try ringing it during the day a few times and see if it hangs.
Be careful with that stove. You might need to have someone come and check it out. The smoke alarm may also be too close to the stove. Hope the steak was good! LOL!

Apple Valley, MN(Zone 4a)

Sylvia,

It's great to have you writing again. You had all of us really worried about you.

Hope you figure out all the little tricks your new place likes to play on its resident. They can be very unnerving in a new home. You sure don't need any additional stress in your life after what you have been through.

Jeannine

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Hey Sylvia,

Glad to see you're back up and running (the computer that is). I'm kinda confused about the Geek reference,,,,is it moi you're referring to? All I have is your old home phone. Is this new home a different number?

I'll d-mail oz the pic so he can see it,,, You're right, he's never gonna believe it. Glad you didn't feel the need for the cane for a bit, that's great news. Just Don't overdo it missy!!!!!!!!!

K I will send my address. I am not up and running yet, I got his beautiful computer, new flat screen, everything shiny and I got no internet connection. My IT guy was working on it and I got a telephone call that my best friend had died that morning. Well ... you know that put a halt on things. I hardly slept last night. I am ok with it now tho. Gilda was a Diabetic and had been on Dialysis for the last two or three year. ...she had heart problems, open wound problem ... she was such an active person at one time ..and. she suffered so much here lately ... she never succumbed to her illness though ... she just ran out of fuel. I will truly miss her ... sorry guys .. but I had to share that with you..
ANYWAY I cant wait to get home and get a tech on the phone to help me get things going.Lord I hope I can do this. ... lol... Kelly who was that helping me with the browser problem ... was it Lauri? ....remember when I tried to click on a link and it gave me an error message? ... and I had to download the Internet explorer ?
... gotta go ... I got three patients outn there.

I think it was Dawn and Smockette or either Greg that got the fig tree up that first weekend.
If you all would look at the highrise apartments coming up behind the group!! That would be awful to live in Sylvia's apartment with them staring down into your courtyard. No privacy at all!! I would move too!

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

The fig tree - the Ross Street Gang got it out and I think they got everything over there, or tried too. Who trimmed it to pieces? Now that was me just to get it through the doors!

Nevada, TX(Zone 8a)

Sylvia,
I am very sorry to hear about your friend. I am sure you have many happy memories of her before she took ill. You have my deepest sympathy.

Thanks for posting the pictures of the actual move. I can just imagine the faces of your neighbors when Pat pulled up with that trailer. Too funny.
BTW, do you know the name of the very large passion flower vine that was growing on the fence? My cuttings have taken root and I am wondering what to expect. :)

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Sylvia,
Great pics of the move. Looks like you had a lot to do and hopefully got everything. At least you can get on at work.

Sorry to hear about your friend. Such sad news, however, she is at peace. You take care of yourself. There's bound to be a rough spot here and there. You have my phone #'s (at least I think you do) if you need someone to talk to. I'll d-mail them just in case

Kelly
