Guess you must have gone by the new house yesterday after everyone left. I bet you dreamed all night about where you would put things! LOL!
I was glad to be of some help with potting up what I could. I got back to FW and dressed just in time to do my volunteering at the Senior Craft Fair. I worked there from 2-5 last night (on my feet ). Then when I came home and DH wanted me to do something with some cannas and elephant ears that are planted where he is digging up an old frame work for a pond. So I worked until dark doing that, I slept very well last night but am very sore this morning.
Please don't over do it this week. If I had known you didn't have a cane, I would have loaned you mine, or DH's. It is adjustable, has a foam handle that is easy on the hand. If you can't find one that is enexpensive, let me know and I will bring this one with me next week.
At one point I watered the plants we had potted, but that was before Greg dug the mimosa tree. I don't know if he watered it or not.
Well I have a long day today, need to get started early. I haven't got all the plants I bought from Botanic Gdns sale or the Dallas swap in the ground yet!! Some I had taken care of last week, but I have to finish this weekend!
I loved Marie, she was a firecracker, moving around like she was 20. She couldn't believe we had come to help, and didn't even know much about you or each other. She said "people just don't do that anymore". LOL!! Greg was like a Pappa out in the garden. He was telling us about how he had put in so many of the plants out there, and he knew just what needed dug. LOL!
It was a fun day, not looking forward to pictures, since I came without make-up!!
Sylvia,
I've been away for a few days so just found this thread. Sorry I live too far to come help with the move (and have to play two concerts that weekend too). Glad you are home. Take care now and don't do anything you aren't supposed to do so that you are able to move on time.
Ann
[q]At one point I watered the plants we had potted, but that was before Greg dug the mimosa tree. I don't know if he watered it or not.[/q]
Sheila I just looked outside and my Mimosa is just weeping ... but I cant handle this cane outside, I will probaly trip and break my neck. Greg is coming over tommorrow ... so I will use my cane to point and tell him what to do.. You guys didnt cut anything back that you dug up? I need to do that tommorrow too.
It never dawned on me that Greg and Marie didnt know each other. I guess because they are there on different days. ... and Marie would not know anything about me ... thats not the kind of relationship we have. I can just imagine Marie running around there while you guys are serving Mimosas ... I do not give her alcohol unless she is leaving ... you can tell she has a problem ... so my liquor is hid. lol
Greg ... bless his heart ... is a ward of the state ... he is the responsibility of a friend of mine. When me or my friends need muscle power we get Greg ... me more than anyone else. You dont really need to pay Greg ... just tell him what a good job he's done and he is happy as lark ... but I do and he does not even look at the money ... he quickly hides it. My girlfriends and I have to be careful of what we say when Greg is around ... Greg loves to gossip ... tells everything he knows about others personal business... LOL He is a charecter ... and I am most dependant on him. Also he loves my coffee! my girlfriend says she makes coffee and he never drinks it. So I gave her my little secret ...1 tablespoon of brown sugar and a Sweet& Low.:) thats how I drink my brewed coffee.
Now that yall have met my "staff" ... What did you think about my pets?
Well I didn't partake of the Mimosa's, and I didn't see Marie with one either, but I was pretty busy outside while I was there. I was loving the Banana Bread! I wasn't expecting anyone except Linda (Smockette) to be there, or I would have stopped and got something for lunch.
As for the pets, the only one I saw was Sarah as she took off upstairs when you were home and we were all talking. I had seen a picture you posted before and they were both adorable.
Be careful when you move. Cats bond with their environment, and don't move very well. You will need to keep them in one room for about 2 weeks to get them settled.
The coffee receipe sounds interesting, I may need to try that.
Well, I'm 250 miles south back in my house. I think I brought that crisp weather with me. Had to close the French door as soon as the sun went down. Now, I remembered why I moved S fr FtW.
Hey, girl, the mimosas were for the diggers, not the workers! lol I didn't give Marie one until we were leaving for the new house.
Hats off to Sheila!! She potted up 23++++ 1g & then replaced them in the bed where she dug them up. Those didn't have tags & she figured Sylia could remember what @ was if it was back where it came fr! Smarter person than me!
Dawn & I were luckier. We started on the vines going up trellises nailed or screwed to the fence, are at least they were when we started! lol They had tags!
One was just too pretty inter woven on a trellis, Dawn didn't have the heart to cut it so we planted it in a bigger pot, trellis & all.
Good time was had by ALL!!! Our thanks, to Katy, Dawn's daugher, also. She got out their & lended Dawn a hand everytime my phone went off! Sylvia kept calling fr the hosp til she go released. lol
Ya'll get her moved next wkend & she has no excuse not to go to CSRU!!!
That's right. But she needs to get well too.
Sylvia, I hope you can afford to hire some people to help pack and move your household stuff this week, you don't need to be doing any bending or lifting. I just noticed, you got a cane, great!
I wish I could have stayed longer to help then got to see the new house. Glad it doesn't have stairs like this one!
I for one plan on returning next Sat. about 8 am to start moving pots of hosta out front. And boy or boy people does she have a lot of them!! LOL!! Pat will be there with the trailer later that morning and they can be loaded for the trip to the new house. I don't know how she could get any more in that garden! LOL!
Sheila
Linda, I was going crazy in that hospital! That cocky little doctor could have let me go the previous. Would you guys believe I have not been outside yet! What could I do? I can barely standup.
Linda when I first got out the car ... I knew Marie synged ... all that jumping up and down! ..doing her Butterfly Mcqueen act! LOL
Sheila Sedric and Sara are going to be the last to go ... I was going to lock them up in the house, but you are saying just one room? They will probaly hide under the bed the whole time anyway.
Ann I almost missed you up there ...now if you can run all over Japan you can come here. LOL ... thanks for the wonderful thoughts. I am just so worried ... i dont know when I will be right again. It hurts just as bad trying to walk with this cane.
Sheila you are coming back Sat! thats wonderful! I wonder if Pat can back the trailor into the rear... its a lot less climbing. I am go to get mitch to o down there on Ross with me ... I will get some o those guys off the corner. Desparate time calls for Desparate measures.
I saw some racks up there at that 7-11 they would be great for moving hosta pots into the trailer
I didn't know you had a back gate. I was wondering if there was some way we could keep from going through the house. Great!
.....Oh, I bet your speaking about the new house. .... Do you have a back gate at your current place? If not, think we could remove a few boards of the fence at the front??
I have a furniture mover (wheels) that might help with real heavy items if we have to go through the house.
Will we need to do some more digging? Do you have spring bulbs, etc that we need to look for?
I will need to leave like I did this Sat. because of my great-nephew's birthday party. It will take us an hour and 45 mins. to get there, so I need to get back home by noon. That means leaving your house by 11 at the latest. But I can help do what I can early.
Sheila
OMG! Me back a trailer? How far and how narrow? I might be lucky and get it right if I don't use the mirrors. If not, can anyone else back a trailer?
Sylvia, the cats will need some adjustment time, but we let ours come into the whole house when we moved. All the furniture was familiar to them. Our builder was afraid he had let one out, but I unrolled a rug and found a very hot LR in the center. Poor scared kitty! After a couple of weeks, we started letting them go outside in the daytime, but all our furbodies have to be in at night because there are coyotes and other predators all around us.
You rest and give that hip a chance to get better. I hope the inflammation will decrease rapidly, but it may take some time. See you soon!
Oh, I forgot the cat question. Yes, Pat's right, the whole house would be fine. I said one room because of them getting out an open door.
OMG, all this time I have been reading and I thought he was bringing TREES!!! not DRINKS!!! How naive am I?????? Mimosas......ROFLMBO
Susan
=^..^=
Sylvia,
Methinks you forgot,,,I have your address my friend,,,,I'll just do a quick mapquest and Marie, Susan and I will be down there this weekend to pick up the hostas,,,,sorry we won't be able to stay and help move anything else though,,gotta get back home,,,,,we'll sneek in at night so we don't bother you,,,you need your rest now,,,mwahahahaha Hey, we may even be able to talk oz into coming with us,,,I'm sure he wouldn't mind a little escapade,,,roflol
LOL @ pointing with your cane to show people which plant you're talking about. You'll be plenty good at that,,,but it will make you madder than anything that you can't do what you want to to help. And there will be plenty of people ther to make sure you don't,,,so don't get any funny idea's.
Poor little furkids,,,they'll be chasing after your cane like crazy. Maybe you'll have to put something really soft and fuzzy around the cane towards the bottom so they don't hurt themselves,,,LOL
pat,
LOL @ shotgun & pitchfork,,,,we'll be sneakin' in at night,,,very stealthy,,,won't even know we've been there. lol
Susan,
ROFLOL,,,,Um, you'll be learning a lot on this trip,,,,,,
I will be there in the morning on Saturday, but forgot about an afternoon commitment. I will have to leave around 11:00. Sylvia, I am sending you a D-mail regarding your address so I can Mapquest it.
lol sylvia...I'll be there in spirit....just plant an empty lawn chair somewheres or about....and put a glass of unsweet tea near it...and I'll be there....in spirit...lol :)
Melanie

You might put "numero" instead of "phone." "Escarbar" means to scratch or investigate. "Cargar" means to load. What do you want to say? I might also add the date -- "el 28 de octubre."
You still need me and the trailer, right?
Want me to bring the Hoover floor and carpet scrubber? It's no trouble and it cleans bare and carpeted floors quickly.
You loving the new place? Hope the kitties are settling in. Just don't let one get out the door!
Escavar - to dig or cargar -to carry and fill up both would work And I would also give the numero over phone - or numero telephonico... both would work but I think the folks up here know what a phone is...
Good job - who helped ya? or can you do that well!
So are you sleeping in the new place yet?? Hope you got the cats in their cages by now too. BTW, I will Dmail you my work email, I can't get on DG at work.
Sheila
Sylvia,
How wonderful to be in your new home. Hope your first day back at work went well. Poor kitties. Also hope you're feeling better.
Kelly
Yeah, Sylvia you have moved!! Poor sweetie kitties. Hope they are calming down.
Susan
=^..^=
yes ... been in the new place for two nights ... I am just in there ... nothing situated yet. I have a girl helping me out... my leggs hurt so bad,
Sedric I took with me the first ... Sara was nowhere to be found. ... poor thing she was traumatized ... went back early yesterday and I found her. Sedric pined for her all night that night. Sara whined all night last night ... making all kinds of noise.. ... she is not takng this transition well at all.
OK BACK TO SATURDAY
I do not know if phone in the house is on or not ..........my cell 214-364-5552
Also my computer is not up yet .so tommorrow might be my last day on line before Sat.
Things I really need digging:
Lorapetlum tree
Fig tree
Hibiscus tree
Heliaborus
ajuga
other things I would like to get
Lysamanica?
Indigo Spirea
two little mimosa trees
Texas Star
I am trying to get more help so we all can get out soon. All I got about two hundred pots If we could get there by 8 pat wont be there until 10, If i have enough help we can start loading into the trailer.
Also I got to load all my tools and yard stuff. :(
Pat, is your trailer closed in or a flat bed with sides? I was wondering if we need bungie cords, tarps, boxes, etc.
Sorry you are still hurting Sylvia. You are still doing too much bending and lifting I bet!
Great, a livestock trailer! It will be easy to load since it sets low too. See you tomorrow morning.
It never ceases to amaze me that the people we meet on DG must be the kindest in the world. It just makes my heart swell to know that there are people who just jump in and help when someone is in need. Sylvia, you must feel very blessed (and special) to have so many coming to your rescue. I can't believe that you resorted to a hospitalization and a cane in order to get other people to move your plants. LOL (You know that I can't stay serious for too long.)
My heartfelt thanks to you fabulous, helpful gardeners who have come to the aid of one of their own. I think that we need to start some 'Golden Trowel' awards or something. We've got some candidates in Texas!
Marie
Amen to that, Marie. Who is your Neighbor? Everybody!
Ann
Hey Guys....I am really getting better ... this morning I didnt need the cane to get to bath room this morning ... I hobbled on my own.My new doctor put me on some called
prednasone? more steroids I think. Says the inflamation was the medicine itself and this should counteract the problem.
I might try to go over tonight and get some stuff.. Hopefully some workers will show up tommorrow .... we are going to need manpower more than anything else.
Marie you are so on target about thr trowlel awards. Everytime I tell some one about all this my fellow texans are doing it brings tears to my eyes. ..and it really had nothing to do with being, I got sick during the process. May God bless and hold them all to his bosum ... for they are the greatest group ever.
I'll be with y'all in spirit! Unfortunately, I'm headed to Colorado City very early tomorrow to indulge my other passion -- birdwatching. I wish I could have been there to help out, as I make a great pack mule. If you need any help after Saturday, let me know, Sylvia.
Carla
Hi Loonie, ((waving))!!!
Hope you have a great time with the birdies. If you should run across another pair of those adorable Chicadee earings please get me a pair. I will pay you for them, and the postage gladly!!
I will get there early between 7-8 I hope... I really hope.
See ya then!
I am waking up at 5:30 and will leave the house an hour later hopefully. I plan on picking up something for breakfast on the way; donuts, juice more than likely. See you there!
It was a blast - I hope you got done after I left! Post those photos!
I just got home from my second place to go to today (7:15pm). I am very tired. After I left you guys this morning, I was concerned about Pat trying to follow Sylvia with all the guys in the truck and car too. Hope they made it fine. Then she had to take the helpers to the drop off place afterward. I also hope her leg is doing better than it was this morning. Her landlady wasn't real sociable was she?
It was good seeing you again Pat, thanks for the trailer. I don't know how she would have managed to get everything with cars alone.
Sylvia......don't forget you need to water the Aguga, Hellaboris, Indigo Spires, Mimosa and others that were just dug today!! Hope is wasn't too late already.
Sheila
Hello Guys, thank you for doing such a wonderful job for Sylvia, I wish I could have there to help and to share in the spirit of friendship and love for one another.
I am sorry that I couldn't make it Sylvia, and I hope you will be very happy in your new home.
Josephine.
Hi Josephine, it was a labor of love, one gardener for another. I am just so glad she will not have to manuver up those steep stairs anymore!! No stairs in the new place, and Ruby even has a carport! She is pretty much settled house wise, still a bit to unpack. The garden will take a lot longer. Her soil was so good in the apartment courtyard beds. The soil at the new place hasn't been worked at all by the look of it. But she has a lot more of it.
She didn't have a phone line when we ran by there earlier today, so she more than likely won't be online until Monday.
Well, I am off to a shower and bed!!
Thank you for the report Sheila, you guys are great.
Josephine.
Sylvia,
What an awesome group of friends here on DG. I feel the same as Marie does! It never ceases to amaze me, the kindheartedness and generosity of our fellow DGers.
And yes, we want pics,,,lol
I hope Sara is getting a bit more used to her new home. It's hard on a pet to move to where everything is different. With lots of love I'm sure she'll get through it.
Congrats on the new home,
Kelly
