Sylvia' s Plant Moving party!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Ok, then this Sat morning may be better to help you pot up the plants then? But does Pat need to come with the trailer around 10 am on the 28th, to move them when she and Robert are up in Irving?

Hope your dr visit goes well and he will be able to give you some relief. I have an appt tomorrow myself. Should be my final release from my back surgery. I still have a couple of therapy sessions left this week. I am not sure if he will have me continue or not. I am doing so much better. Wish you luck.

Make sure you go thru the thread and dmail those who want to help your information. Glad you took it off the open post. Sheila

We'll get those plants out of there on the 28th! I'm glad Mitch will be there because my Spanish may not be the right kind, but sometimes the guys from Mexico, not the border, speak the Mexico City Spanish that I learned and taught for a jillion years. I'll always need a dictionary. lol and sometimes the words aren't in there.

I just want to cry ... you guys are the best ever!

Sylvia, you have a great support group! Hope everything goes as planned.

Sylvia, I am really sorry that I will not be able to help, I have an all day class for the Master Naturalist program that I must attend, maybe later I will be able to help you, if you need help with planting or extra plants.
It looks like you are going to have a great crew there, aren't friends wonderful?
And so generous too, coming long distances to help, bless them, DG has brought about a lot of great friendships
and that is a wonderful thing, we are very lucky indeed to be part of this group.
Josephine.

Oh, no... Sylvia, we are praying for you! I hope you get better quickly. I wish I could come help with the plant moving party, but it sounds like you're going to have a fun crowd there. :-)

Thanks for letting us know, Juanita!!

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Prayers here too - do we have any idea where she is? I am sure a visit would be nice...

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

I just emailed Juanita with my cell #. I'm sure Sylvia didn't have that on her list to take to the Dr appt. If she answers me back, I will ask.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Okay, here's the hospital. They have changed the name fr St Paul's to UT Southwestern Medical Center St Paul! How would you like to have to write that for a return address? Juanita says it is on Harry Hines Blvd.

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Oh my heavens.. Please keep us posted on Sylvia's condition. I hope she gets well soon!!

I've been away all day going with my mother to a doctor in Abilene. (Nothing is close to Goldthwaite!) Sylvia, you do what those doctors tell you to and get well. Don't rush going home if they think you should stay. We'll take care of those plants! They are not going anywhere until we tell them to. You take care of you! See you soon.

Sylvia.....I never been to Texas, but found my way here from another thread. You take good care of yourself and do what the doctors tell you to do. I am amazed at the great community that you have there in Texas to help you move your dear plants. Now....if you find that you don't have room for all of your hostas at your new place, Kelly and I would be happy to take them off of your hands for you. LOL

Be good....be well....and know that you've good DG friends everywhere that are thinking of you and keeping you in their prayers.

And....our many thanks to Juanita for letting us all know how you're doing.

Marie

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Sylvia - joking aside I am sure that if you cannot take care of moving your plants right now you can keep them at my or several others homes for a while until you feel up to getting out there and taking care of them again. I do not want you to over do it and get down worse - we are family on here and will take care of those arangements if need be.

Sylvia,

I sure hope you get out of that place soon. Not a fun place to be. As with everyone else, my thought's and prayers are with you.

When you get out, don't be tryin' to be Super Sylvia. There are a lot of folks on this thread that sound like they will have everyting covered, you just need to supervise. Now why does that seem like it would work perfectly???? LOL No, I'm serious, Take it Easy!!! Even with the offers people have made to take plants home and take care of them until you're up to planting them, what awesome friends here on DG.

I would be there in a heartbeat for you if I had the $ for a plane ticket. Um, yeah, what Marie said,,,,roflol

Juanita,
Thanks so much for letting us know what's going on.

Has anybody heard anything from or about Sylvia today?

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Hey everyone, I got a call from Juanita, Sylvia's work friend. Sylvia asked her to have me tell eveyone that she DID NOT get to go home today. She will not be going home until after lunch tomorrow at the earliest, and will be using a walker for a bit. She can't be stooping or bending for a while I am sure.

Good news is that there was no infection, only a serious inflamation to the socket area of her hip where she gets the shots. They have her on some medication and hopefully she will be feeling better by next weekend. This is throwing our potting party amuck, but her health is what is important.
I know she is worried about her plants though.
Keep her in your prayers, and I am sure we will hear from her as soon as she is home again.
Sheila

Sorry Pat just posted at the same time. I just got home.

That's good news! When Sylvia's home and able to post, we'll get the plant moving all figured out.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Very good news - she is going to need a lot of help trying to move with all this going on... she will need all the help so can get right now.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes indeed. I tried to call her at the hospital this afternoon and got a recording that the number had been "disconnected", it had been busy all day. Guess she talked so much they couldn't get her to sleep, and cut the phone off! LOL!! She couldn't dial out to a 817 area code per Juanita, so if she speaks to any of you, post what she has to say please.
I committed to volunteer at the Senior Craft Fair Sat. afternoon so I won't be online to know what you guys plan until later. I don't have a problem with going over on Sunday morning to help if she is home and up to it. Next week I can help early Sat. morning too. Sure need to get as much help as possible since she is not able to do much herself. Hopefully the landlady will let her have another week. Later, Sheila

I just left the hospital & Sylvia seems to be doing fine. She says she is coming home in the morning, period. I'm @ her house & DawninTx is coming over in the morning. Plans have not chg'd for tomorrow. I have pots & she gave me a list of where to start digging. So, if you were coming over to help pot tomorrow, come on! Mimosas are on me! lol

Well I am just now checking the email. Great news. Glad we can get something done this weekend even if she isn't able to be there. I will try to motivate myself and get over there as soon as able.
Anyone else that is able to come join in.

On, my dear Sylvia. I just had a chance to get on-line and find out that you are in the hospital and possibly coming home this afternoon. Please take care of yourself. You want to get yourself well before the cold, winter weather sets in. I did not even know you were moving until I read this thread - I just don't get to get on-line very much anymore.

I just looked at my calendar, and if additional help is needed for Saturday, October 28th, I can help. Just let me know.

Will keep you in my prayers, Sylvia.

God Bless!

Heyy you wonderful group of people, I just love you guys! I got home this afternoon to to one heck of a welcoming party! Mimosas and fresh home made bannana nut bread! I was overwhelmed with gratitude. It could not have gone any better if I was here. The welcoming group was Smockett , Sheila, Dawn, my yardman Greg and Marie. Its amazing how everyone found their way here. You should have seen Linda running through the hospital in the middle of the night. I sitting on the bed feeling depressed when I saw this shadow running ... then backing up when she recognized me .... its a wonder they didnt throw us out the hospital making all that noise. LOL
....Linda I forgot to tell you dont be giving Marie any alcoholic beverages! When this happens, she starts darting around like a fly and just gets too happy for me.... and I cant find a thing.
Anyway I will be home next Saturday waiting for you guys. LOL
Kelly and Marie you are not going to come up here and get my Hostas! I know you will try ... if Smockette can drive all the way to Missippippi to retrive Gingers out a revene... I would not put anything past you guys in Wisconsin! roflma

Sylvia,

Fine time to take a vacation at a spa,,,,LOL,,,,,Glad to see you're home. Sounds like everything is going as planned. Hope you're feeking much better and on the mend now for real this time. I'll definitely be able to take some of those hostas off your hands with Marie next weekend. Susan, we'll pick you up on the way to Texas and share the bounty with you,,,,LOL

Take it easy on yourself Sylvia,,,,

Kelly

West Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Sylvia.....what great news that you are home and on the mend. Great news as well that you have so many fabulous DG Texans to help you out.

Kelly......should we take your pick-up (it's bigger than mine) or do you think that there is more room for plants in your van? We sure would hate to leave anything special behind when we head down to help Sylvia move plants next weekend. ;-}

Marie

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Marie,

Either one is fine. I have totes that we can use to put hostas in if we take the truck. If we take the van we could possibly get more in,,,we can take the back seat out and double stack totes. I guess it'll be the van. I'm thinking we'll need the room. I do believe Sylvia has done some hosta shopping this year,,,lol

I got a RX for a walking cane ... OMG ... can you imagine these hips that use to swing walking with a cane. lol? I had a inservice with the Physical Therepist yesterday. I always thought when you need a cane that you just took off with it. Not so! You put the pressure on the cane and you move the bad leg. he also told not to be holdin on to the walls and furniture ... I must have the cane at all times. ... and I have to watch out for the cat ... the cat will see that cane swinging and go after it. lol I dont need to tell you what happens next ... maybe I should take Sara to the Shelter ... she goes after everything that moves lol Also I have to walk up the steps with the cane ... now this is scary. Also everybody is telling me they got a Cane somewhere. The PT guy say the cane has to has to hit me at the top of my thigh ... I got friends who are 6ft tall and more who wants to give me a cane. I told them I cant use their cane ... Carter want to chop his off ... cant do that either ... It has to have a certain tip on it....He is afraid I am going to go out and buy a cane for 500.00 .... aint gonna do that either. .. Do you know how many Hostas that would buy? ;)

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

I got my pitchfork and shotgun! If them hostas git lifted, it ain't gunna be by nobody but a Southerner! Y'all, why do you think I am taking the 16' stock trailer? Now you jest stay up North and keep yur traps shut! Now, Sylvia, don't you be reading this! (Do you have any idea how hard it is for an old English teacher to write like this! lol)

Dallas, TX

You guys are not going to get my Hostas! LOL I just scoped out where I am going to be planting ... even back in the alley. I figured out where my vines will go... and my Fig Tree ... I am chopping down that darn Rose Bush and planting my Chinese Fringe.... Oh there is a lot of work and I think some of the ground is rocky. Greg my yard man is really excited .too .... he sees himself getting heavly into my pocket LOL.
