Moving party? Let me know. We have a 16' stock trailer with covered top and sides which would protect larger plants from wind damage in transit. I have lots of 1 gallon and larger nursery pots too.

Oh you guys are so wonderful! I looked at this place and come to find out its a Duplex my landlord owns it and want me to have it .. I guess because I dont have kids. Its not as big as my place I presently live in but it could be cute ... one I am in there and start renovating without asking. LOL There is a back yard with trees and I am quite sure I could get most of my Hostas in the ground there. The front yard is big ... I could spread My texas natives all across the front ... and plant most all my trees ... Mitch you might have to take the Peach trees ;) My big problem is all my vines I just planted six recently... and I got more Clematis in the ground too. Mitch I will have to dig up all my daylillies that havent bloomed yet...:( Oh well I havent got the place yet, I should have taken a serious interest when she first told me about it. :( will keep you guys posted.
Pat I could see you driving up here in that Stock trailer! I love it! LOL

I am thinking about all the labeling and replanting more than the digging! LOL!! Sylvia, I have seen pictures, and you have a lot in that little yard!
When will you have to move? Do you have a separate backyard from the person on the other side?
I don't have any spare pots to offer, but I can haul quite a bit in my SUV as you know.

replanting... that will be the biggest issue - to keep the names with everything.

Hey guys I just want to get the plants over there in pots. The Fig, Orleander and my Vitex are the only ones I think will need to get in the ground asap
I got my Rose of Sharon too
All my Hostas are in pots.
I got a Poplar tree growing in a pot with a Clemitis hugging it. I sure hate to lose that!
I got two huge drums with my peach tress an herbs in it I wont be able to use the peach trees.
Everything else is in the ground Daylillies about eight important vine, all my Natives, two peonie, and Rusilla planted out front, perenials
SHEILA you bought up a good point! ...that woman on the other side. She is supposed to be into plants, but I dont see anything out front ... its just as bare out there. She has some kind of vine running through her screened window ... I dont know whats thats all about. loo I was thinking about asking her if I could plant my Natives all the way across her side too ... just to show some coheisiveness(sp?. Its will look really strange if she has nothing on her side.LOL

... this is great ... you guys are helping me think thing through.! Keep the questions coming! and the ideas!

Sylvia - I'm sorry that you don't think you will be able to make College Station. : (

The 11th would be fine for me. About what time? Besides pots, I can also bring a sharpshooter or two. And I have room in my SUV to transport plants.

Dallas, TX

Debbie ... the movers will be here on the first ... I will be off work on the first ... we could do this on 10/21 or 10/28. ... maybe I can still go to College Station on the 4th?
that is if I have any money left.
OK YOU GUYS HOW DOES 10/28 SOUND TO YOU? I WILL STILL HAVE A KITCHEN TO PREPARE FOOD!
I want to go to College Station too ... :(

My goodness, girl! I go to the bank & come back & look what you are doing!!!
I'm coming up the 20th to pick up a bdrm suite in FtW but will be in a F-150 that will be basically empty til we load the bd. lol
I have to come help you move b/c how else will I know where to find you????
Something was said about another thread or is this it?
Count on me! Reinforcements fr the South are coming in!
LMK

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

PS You have to go to CSRU! Who else will keep us entertained in your 'Special' fashion!!! lol

Dallas, TX

... you are not coming empty handed are you? ;) Linda thats sweet of you, but I cant move until the first ... now you can always make a special trip on the 28th. :) You are going to stop by anyway on the 20th ... yes? I will have wine ... chilled:) hey! thats this friday ... we cant go dancing ... my hip is not well yet. LOL

Dallas, TX

THE NEW AND FINAL DATE IS SATURDAY OCTOBER 28TH
EIGHT OR NINE WOULD BE A GREAT TIME TO START.

COFFEE ... JUICE AND PASTIRES TO START THE DAY.

BRUNCH IS A SURPRISE! ;)

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

I'll aim at 8:00 and be there before 9:00. I have the pickup and stock trailer (I will wash it out!), dolly, ramp, digging fork and sharpshooter, a pile of pots, and Robert's approval. lol He'll be at his cousin's birthday party in Irving most of the time, so he's happy. Plants to dig and pots to move! Gotta get this done so we can all go to College Station!

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Well, yea, I WAS coming empty so we could move plants. And since I haven't seen your new place, I can't pick a plant to bring as a house warming gift!
May have to beg out on the 28th & let the rest of Garden help. That is my only wkend @ home this month. I have been gone every wkend since Sept. And it is already dark when I get home fr the Farm every nite. Got to figure out what is going to CSRU b4 Sat morning of the 4th, like I usually do!
Chilled wine on Fri nite after a looooooooong wk @ the Farm sounds great to me. Sassy & Chris(Arlington) can go dancing & you & I can have cheese & crackers! I'll bring them!
Is this new place close? Can you move any plants b4 the 28th?
Is there something, other than the whole Farm, that you would like for me to bring up this wkend? Not a problem, I can do it. Just let me know.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Let me check but this sounds fine right now. I will take the trees that day with a root bag so you can use those pots too. Just give me directions on how to get there!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Smokette, She is wanting to get things potted up,so if you have extra pots you can bring this weekend, it would help.
Also, if we can all bring a bag or two of potting soil, that would really help, we can't take the whole yard with her. LOL!

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Sheila, you are reading my mind about the soil. I've been there & had the same thought. We must leave so dirt in the beds. She doesn't want to make the landlord mad, if she is only moving to another house & not getting a new landlord. lol
I have some of all sizes of pots. One yr I did a landscaper's taxes, & she paid me in pots fr her installations. Just need some kind of count on sizes. I have plenty.
Take the whole yard with her? Well, we know when we dig out trees, even small TREES, it is going to leave a hole. Shoot, that russella in the front yard, should need a 15g pot by now.
Moving quilts, tarps, tiedowns, & now, pots are on my list for this wkend. Anything els I need to bring?
LMK
PS. Smockette, has a 'c' in it! roflol

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm not thinking "city." I'll put some fill dirt in the trailer. Sandy loam from the ranch to take care of holes that might upset the landlord.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Sounds good Pat, we don't have extra landscape around here.
Smockette, sorry about the 'c', I said it right in my head but late at night it just didn't type right. LOL!

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

NP, It's just funny to me when you get to typing & leave out a letter.
Storytime!
I came back fr overseas & was supposed to pick up friend's cats (2) @ Love Field. Airport could not find them. These were full blood, registered Siamese. No cats for Prince (my last name), By the time I tracked them w/airway bill #, there were 6.
When they changed planes in Cal, the person typing my name, left out the 'n' AND transposed my phone #. So it always reminds me of what can happen when you leave out a letter of someone's name. 30 yrs later & I still laugh about that!

Dallas, TX

You are wonderful! dont worry about replacing dirt. this woman is not a gardener and she could care less.
When Mitch take those out those huge barrels there will b a lot of soil in there too.

you guys are great! I am going to a new doctor today to see about my Hip, I am told I might have a contusion. I am still n so much pain. I hate to sit down or lay down, its just too hard to get up.

Linda I will ask Haddis ( the landlord) about the 21st.

Pat if push come to shove I can always go get some of those guy who hang out on the
to get work.

Mitch you will need to be here so you can translate!

Nevada, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh no, Sylvia! The 28th I will be in Tyler for the "Smith County Master Gardener Conference and Heirloom Bulb Sale." They are offering up a rare crinum that I have been searching for and I don't want to miss my chance. Any possibility we could try for the 29th? Or the 21st?

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Okay, I'm coming in Fri evening. Need you to ck & tell me what size big pots to bring. As many as you need, as big as you need. Just let me know so I can bring them with me.
Note to self: Get cheese & crackers!

Dallas, TX

GOOD NEWS!! I can move in anytime I get ready I dont have to wait until the 1st.
so I guess I just need to know who is coming and when.
Pat since you got the vehicle ... I can just insure every thing is potted up then when you get here on the .28th
Linda those same size pots you brought my plants in is good
Mitch you can get these trees anytime because we probaly will need that soil in thos drums.
Oh you just dont realize how much I appreciate you, My hip is hurting so bad I hate to get up ... it just brings me to tears.

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

You folks just tell me where to be and when to be there. I gave away most of my empty pots at the RU, so all I can provide is the hard labor. And smiles.

Carla

EDIT: Well, no sooner do I write that then I look at my calendar and realize that the 28th is next weekend. And next weekend I'm going to be in Colorado City. I'm very sorry, Sylvia. I'll be with you in spirit.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Pots will be there Fri evening, the 20th. 1g, 5g, 10g, & a couple of 15g, just in case. I will bring my trusty light & Sylvia can point & I can pot!
Ya'll can move them the following wkend.
Sounds like a plan!

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

That'll be great, but we will still need plenty of muscles on the 28th. I'll bring some sturdy boxes that will hold 6 1-gallon pots, and we can stack two or three boxes on the dolly at a time. Sylvia, call up all your friends who owe you favors! Some of them have got to have teenage boys!! lol

Dallas, TX

I dont know those type people Pat. LOL I am serious about getting some of those guys of the cornner on Ross... they will do anything to get work. Do you speak Spanish?

Nevada, TX(Zone 8a)

Sylvia, Smockette,
If you are going to pot this Friday, I can swing by as well after work and lend a hand.

Dallas, TX

Deb that linda you hear talking. lol I work friday. she is talking about getting up early sat morning to help. would that work for you?

Nevada, TX(Zone 8a)

I can do Sat morning. What time?

Dallas, TX

eight or nine is good!:)

Nevada, TX(Zone 8a)

OK. Can you d-mail directions? (or just an address, I can look up directions from my place.)

Dallas, TX

omg Deb! I thought I gave it to you. DEB where is Nevada?

This message was edited Oct 18, 2006 9:38 PM

Nevada, TX(Zone 8a)

Nevada is northeast of Dallas. Not far, I work in Richardson.
(By the way, it's Dawn, not Deb, LOL.)

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Sylvia, should I bring mimosas for the digging crew? lol

Nevada, TX(Zone 8a)

now you're talking

Dallas, TX

where did I get Deb? LOL the reason I asked Dawn is I never heard of it before. You don work at Richland college do you?

Nevada, TX(Zone 8a)

No, actually I work for Fossil, the watch company. Their corporate headquarters is in Richardson.

Dallas, TX

FOSSIL!!! How cool is that? my favorite line! wait until you see my 200.00 black leather bag! and my watch I use it every day. I try to go without in the summer

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

I will be there on the 28th, I will take the trees bareroot/small amount of soil so they fit in the car and you will have the pots and soil to use in the rest of the garden.

This sounds like fun... cold drinks are always welcome.

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

I have spent the day trying to figure out the timing problem I have. Before when I thought we were digging and potting and hauling on the 28th, I figured I could dig a while and then take Robert to Irving and leave him at his cousin's party around 10:30 and be back in time for the first load. It's supposed to start at 11:00.

I could probably drop him off a bit earlier (and let them figure out what to do with him), but that would still put me around 10:00 getting to your place. I guess you could have the helpers move plants to the front near where we will park the trailer and then load when I get there? What do you think?

You take care of that hip so we don't have to move you with the dolly! lol but not lol

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Ok, I think I may have it right. Some are showing up at 8 or 9 this Sat. the 21st. Then next Sat. the 28th the remainder of the potting and the actual moving of the potted plants will happen?
Sylvia......is this right?

I have afternoon plans on both days, but can help pot up the plants whatever day that is happening.

Dallas, TX

You got that right I am trying to get some of my clients to help me out too ... and mitch will be there to translate. My Landlord say I can move in whenever i want to ... just pay the rent on first! lol
I want to be out of here on the 28th!
I am going to a new doctor in the morning ... Lord I hope he helps me out. ... then I can start thinking about CS! :)
