Loretta, No, I'm older than 47. Anita had said she was forty-one and Andy said he was 2 decades older (61). So my saying we had 40s,50s & 60s covered it put me in the fifties category.
Actually, today I'm 52.
Daily Musings Page 3
Dave......your 52 today? As in, it's your bitrthday??? If so......HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
(I'm the one closer to that 47 mark...really close) But feeling more like Andy, in the 90's after planting bulbs today.
Dave -
Happy #52 Birthday!!!
Didn't you know that you don't have to work on your birthday? There's some kind of law against it - so I've heard.
Kay
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVE!!!!!! OH WAIT - LET ME SING!!!!

Happy Birthday to you.........................
Happy Birthday dear DAVE.....
Happy Birthday to you....!!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday, Dave. (I thought you were born in 1947.)
Loretta
You guys are too much... few days that I dont' check and I feel like I am missing so much...
Gram I am glad you are a geek... right now I have database nighthmare... implementing this thing that by all means shouod be done by a geek... but my boss "lied" to me and gave me a project for few months he had the nerve to say that all I was going to do was to organize and schedule trainings etc... few weeks later, he told the entire agency that I was in the "go to" person for Octopi* (the name of this database) ... oh well, do I need help... for me excel was enough... I do a lot in excel... even a report with over 1000 people (that now HUD wants this report to be electronically exported)...I am so not happy!
Happy birthday Dave... from me, Lilly and the turtles,,, (I have named one of the turtles Hershey - she/he has markings that looks just like a Hershey Kiss) some flowes to celebrate this good day!
Happy Birthday from me, too. And many, many, many more.
Thank you everyone!
It has been an amazing week for me. Award on Friday, spoiled all weekend, Boss's day Monday (this must be the silliest holiday ever), my birthday Tues.. I'm telling people today is my anniversary just to keep the party going!
Kassia ~ Nice collage! To the right of the lily picture in the background..is that a pink geranium? It accents the lily perfectly!
Got a few things planted yesterday and then it started to rain. No....POUR is a better word. Found myself thinking of what I used to do w/the kids on rainy days to keep them occupied. So I went and dug out my "Rainy Day Fun Box" and found some inspiration to do something that wasn't gardening or reading.
Here is what I played with and made for my Grandaughters. They are CHOCOLATES!! YUM!! Now you know why it was fun but I had to go put sweatpants on after. A bit bloated but im not sure why. (big grin)
oh, my I completly forgot it was boss's day on monday... my poor boss might think I forgot him on purpose... I have to make it up to him....
Well Dave , I think Boss Day is the day when you make your boss fell good about being a boss and it gives everyone a chance to be a brown nose but not in a so obviouly way... and the challenge is for the boss to try to figure the brown noses out!!!!
Pixie, yes it's pink geraniums... these lilies were so pretty... the first ones I planted!!!
People, if you show chocolate you have to share... I will de d-mailing my address!!!!
They look good Pixie - if you need me to take them off your hand - I'll gladly oblige!
those look pretty good, Pixie. I used to have some of those chocolate molds, but just Xmas ones. I think I gave them away, though. you have my address LOL
Dave, I wish everybody could have a week like that for their birthday. glad you did. my boss was away at a conference Monday....too bad.
any dentist's in our little group? seems I must have a dry socket on one of the teeth I had extracted on Monday. can't get back to see the surgeon until tomorrow morning. I'm in so much pain I couldn't concentrate on work so I'm hanging out here taking pain pills that don't help. even bought some clove oil. doesn't help much, either, but I feel like I'm doing something.
Al practices amature dentistry!
Hey Dena's back......oh it's Dave, and your week was going so well.
I'll bite (pun intended) what is amature dentistry? I have to get my teeth cleaned tomorrow and I could still cancel.
What's with all the dentistry?? I had work done on Saturday and I still have a pain in the mouth!!!
I know I left myself open on that one - so be nice!!!
Who goes to the dentist in the summer? Better things to do. So everybodys probably catching up with things we 'should' be doing.
I don't think I practice anything mature.
Hi, people. Thanks everyone for being concerned about me. I put some pictures up on the "what's growing" thread if you want to see them. It's been a tough week for us. Thanks, gram, for keeping them informed on things. I did hear that there was little or no snow to the north, and to the south. It all just dumped on the city this time. I got power back today, but so many are still without it. On Sunday our neighbor got a generator and let us share it. We got our sump pump hooked up so there was no more baling, thank goodness. I really don't know how we managed to move as much water as we did. I guess you can do more than you think you can.
Dave, no, I wasn't at all offended, and hoped you weren't either. I am pretty serious about it though.
Oh, sorry I missed your birthday! I'm glad it was such a special time for you.
Great to see you back Nap!
CORRECTION: Al practices immature amateur dentistry. (Dena did let me download her spell-check)
Note to self. If immature and amateur are both formed from the same root word (mature), why do they have 2 diiferent ways of saying "not"?
Dave47 - in your defense - spell check wouldn't have caught that one. On the way to work this morning I had one of those "ah ha!' moments and realized I had just given Al another opportunity to be witty. Apologies all around.
you guys are so helpful... see if I was not fooling around here I was going to miss my dentist appointment today at noon... wow this is spooookkyyy...
Gram, hope you fell better...
Yankee - I hope you fell better too.
"fell better too"?
Nancy, so good to see you back. what a relief. it's easy to say not to worry... not so easy to do :-)
It was only a matter of time, there has been a large skunk in the neighborhood for a week or more.
Sidekick Sarah came in and the odor followed her. I started sniffing the air and she put on a guilty look. It must have been a small drop, but enough.
She just got a bath last week end, too.
Nancy, I'm glad you survived OK.
Not much for pics, only a wet Milkweed seed.
Andy P
Gram do you FEEL BETTER??? now is my turn to complain about the dentist.... I am so mad... he took an old filling out and it hurt so much... he told me my tooth is cracked and I have to to a crown soon... oh my ... I should have gone to the other dentist in the office... this is the second time this happens to me. And right now it really hurts... I just hope it doesn't break so I will have to go through another trauma...
oh, well,,, sorry for the whinninnnng.....
yes, thanks, I do feel better. dentist put some kind of temporary foaming seal/anesthetic on it...cool! plus a couple of alternating pain meds. it's ok...your turn to whine, I had mine.
Andy, you even make wet milkweed look good. did you get the skunk out of Sarah? have to resort to the tomato juice? we were once up in the Adirondacks with our beagle, Baggins (miss that little guy). the day we were to leave he had a close encounter with 'something' in the woods. don't think it was a skunk, never saw any up there and it wasn't really that kind of smell, but it was rank - maybe a muskrat. anyway he HAD to have a bath in the lake before we could put him in the car or it would have been a VERY long ride home.
Earlier in the thread someone mentioned snakes ... we occasionally get visitors in our yard ... here's some pictures of one that came in September ... I was out taking pictures and heard a racket in our split apple tree ... a bunch of chickadees ... so I went over to investigate ... I was under the tree canopy looking up for about 5 minutes trying to figure out what the chickadees were doing ... making noise and hopping around ... until one hopped lower and I looked down and saw this about 2 feet from me ... called the neighbors and took lots of pictures ... then it slowly made its way out of the yard ... this is my boyfriend standing behind it for proportion ...
I'd have a heart attack!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was freaked out with just the photo!!!!!
Thats a Timber Rattle Snake in yellow morph stage. They are on the threatened list.
Here's the link: http://www.bio.umass.edu/biology/conn.river/rattlesn.html
YUK YUK YUK!!! Glad that wasn't in my yard!!!!!!!
That's a bit too much for me, lol. Garter snakes are more my speed.
Years ago, I was told to be on the look out for these while hiking but never saw one.
Cool shots.
Andy P
ok..I'm still freaked out
